Shawn, Alex, and Brett, it was awesome seeing the KD vlog. Can’t thank yall enough for allowing me to hang out that day, each of you were kind and gracious. Entire day was a joy but two things will always stick with me: 1) While waiting for a maintenance issue, Alex leading everyone on the platform in a sing-a-long of Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up! hahaha 2) Shawn and Brett giving out a serious WOAH WOAH WOAH to a couple of teens who tried to jump into the back cars of the Grizzly while you two were putting your bags in the platform storage boxes. Again, to the 3 of you, thanks for an amazing day and thanks for being such top shelf gents. Hope our paths cross again.
I'm so glad I watched the WHOLE vlog! I was pretty bummed with your initial I305 review, but then watching the day just keep getting better and better, and then concluding the way it did; this had better build-up than a lot of movies. One of the best vlogs of this trip IMO.

Glad you enjoyed Dominator. It's was my number 1 coaster since I rode it at Geauga Lake, but was only recently knocked down to number 2 by Steel Vengeance. I love the massive loop, the fast turns, the perfectly profiled cobra roll, and the pop of air off the mid course. It was better over the water at Geauga Lake but I'm just glad that we all still get to ride it.
The Theme Park Guides came here to second this unpopular opinion, dominator is so underrated and overlooked most of the time and I think it deserves more love. But I grew up with it, I lived 10 minutes from geauga lake and I may be a little biased 😉
I miss this place so much. I was there in summer of 2007 when I was 13. I was on a school trip to the USA for a whole month and I visited this place, lost my Manchester United hat on the Italian Job ride! I’ll never forget it, wonderful experience.

I forgot to say in the last post sorry to hear that Alex wasn't feeling too well, that humidity in Virginia can really get the best of you. It got to me the first time I was at Kings Dominion. That was so cool that Taylor from Coaster Studios joined you guys and that Grand Carnivale was really neat! It was going on when I was there, but since I was there also for Kings Fest the concerts were going on during the Carnivale. The best view of the fireworks are right next to Dominator.
Kings dominion is the park I have been to the most out of any other. I think it is one of the most underrated parks in the world right up there with Dorney Park in Pennsylvania. i305, Twisted Timbers, Flight of Fear, Dominator, and Rebell Yell are as good as it gets... On top of that the flat ride collection is amazing, the food is above average, and they do actually have some high quality shows that are really awesome as well! It may still be a corporate amusement park in terms of atmosphere but it's ran really well and I'm glad you guys enjoyed your visit!
Another great US road trip vlog. Glad Taylor was able to come along for a few and give you guys an energy bump. Poor Alex looks bear dead in some parts of this vlog
Actually, Intimidator has had some work done on it, since it's opening season. The coaster was "too intense" and they had to completely remove and adjust the second hill to control the speeds a bit. So yes, your experiencing something completely different from what used to be.
Hi shawn, Alex and Brett really enjoyed this vlog great to see Taylor with you again. I have really enjoyed the way you have met up with people on this trip .Fun vlog . Love Brett xxx
What, they weren't impressed with i305, I'm thinking it had to be because it wasn't warmed up yet. Glad Shawn and gang liked this amazing coaster in the end. Riding it at night is incredible. Glad to see everyone ended up having a great time at Kings Dominion.
Glad you had a good trip to kings dominion. Makes me realize how unfair of a shot you had at kings island. Being sister parks they're quite similar in what they deliver. I was super disappointed you were telling people to stay away from KI if traveling from far away. You had what amounted to a bad day from a weather and lack of rest aspect. Hopefully you will give kings island another shot on a good weather day in the future.
Fur Gulley. He actually said stay away from KI all because he had a bad day of weather there and lack of rest? Him being a fan of amusement/theme parks he should know not to judge a park like that.... Makes me kind of question his judgments of other things in videos. Everyone should go to KI, it is a great park.
We're always very honest in our videos and sadly we were put off Kings Island with the lack of communication at the end. We had an awesome day here, great operations and entertainment!
Too much travelling has spoiled this trip for you guys for sure. I did think when you announced the trip it looked incredibly optimistic. Okay you've managed to get from park to park in time but you've not been your usual selves due to fatigue. I'm sure if you could do it all again you'd change the itinerary.
Reason why some smaller parks shut early on bad weather days with super low crowds is because they're losing money keeping the machines running with not near the number of guests they need to make money. Sucks but that's the way it goes sometimes. A ride operator on I-305 told me that back in May 👍
To be honest, my reaction is the exact same as you when I rode i305 for the first time earlier this year. I thought it wasn't quite intense as it was hyped up to be. However, the night ride on that thing is on a whole another level, the fact that it is pitch black just makes the ride that much more intense. In the dark, you cannot see the whippy turns coming, it just throws you from side to side and it felt much snappier than it does in daylight. Still, I'm glad that you had a good time, and I can't wait to see the upcoming vlog from Six Flags Great Adventure (my home park)!
Mulin Huan they are going to go on a Saturday and complain about operations and then say El Toro isn’t that good and then it will probably rain and they will blame it on six flags. IMO the combination of Toro, Nitro, Ka, and the drop ride can’t be top by any other park and if we ever got another world class coaster it wouldn’t be an argument and I’ve been to all of the Major parks in the US.

37:25 the woman screaming i don't want this...hahhahaha..too late now my dear..hehe. I think after done so many coasters it is difficult to impress you with a coaster maybe? I dunno. For me having done a few coasters almost everything is intens for me haha. I'm wondering when all the vids of the America trip are done are you two gonna do a recap vid and talk about the trip or no?
@@ThemeParkWorldwide oh awesome. But first a whole lot of america vlogs and Netherlands vlogs. Can't wait for those as you where in my hometown Tilburg and "my" park Efteling..It was me the big black lady in purple when it was so darn hot that day. Greetings to your lovely "wife" Charlotte 😉
About the hype thing, this is something that I noticed in the eurotrip that ovc, koaster kids and coaster studios did last year. Some of their most anticipated coasters or parks where a bit disapointing for them, as it happened to you. Conclusion: don't hype anything too much and don't let the opinion of other people change your opinion. Even your disapontment with I305, for me is one of my most anticipated rides, one day... As always great job, I'm enjoying your American trip a lot.
@Dillon Sykes It was only an example and even if he "times dispatch of trains", his opinion is as respectful as other one. Also dispatch times can ruin your day on a park, believe me, my home park is Port Aventura.
Intimidator definitely provides that blackout experience with that first drop. I think everyone has their own opinion I love Intimidator. It’s meant to be like a race car 🏎 with the turns and stuff in memory of Dale Earnhardt Sr.
I wonder whether some of the people criticising Shawn have watched the whole vlog? He is always honest and will always give credit to the things that make his park days better. I don’t think it’s fair to say he hated this park at all, in fact, there was a lot he really enjoyed about it. One thing I wonder about is why the guys keep riding the big beast coasters first thing when they know they will be better later on? I’d definitely visit this park, based on this vlog.
Just to say honestly if Volcano was still around it would still be closed. It was closed for all of last year. So at least you knew and now you have a reason to comeback.
The Grizzly at night is top ten life experience for me, and I've had *many*. Of course, that opinion is flavored by KD being a home park, a park I first went to thirty or so years ago.... plus there's other factors -like the time it qualified as top ten life was during an exhilarating ten ride back or second to back seat marathon to close out the night.... yeah. Can't beat that kind of fun in the last moments of the park day. You hide out on the benches in the woods chilling letting everyone leave and then you walk - the long way back towards the midway and the old lake - through the park leisurely as everything winds down, people are closing things up, but everything is still brightly lit and flashing.... it's a good thirty minute stroll "Oh, I know which way I'm going! Thanks" The park closed at 10, your last coaster trip started just after then and now you're out the front entrance past the beautiful brightly lit fountains at like eleven fifteen.... the place seemingly to yourself. Wonderful.
After watching the Southport Pleasureland vlog it seems like Shawn is much less critical of the local parks even though some things are atrocious. I'm sure though with all that money spent on the road trip expectations are high and can only imagine how overhyped everything has been!
Confuses me as to why you’ve been so critical of almost everything this trip. Seems to me that the tiredness/illness has got in the way of enjoying the rides
Completely disagree with your opinion on i305. Easily my second favorite coaster and I rode it 27 times in a day, and I live for crazy transitions. Everything up to the trim is perfection but the ending is still better than any B&M hyper after the MCBR.
Dillon Sykes not joking, my body didn’t like me for doing that. I got about 17 of those rides while it was mid day and very hot. It got to the point where I was grayed out past the first airtime hill and almost to the quick turns. Took a large break and rode the less intense coasters and had a 10 lap marathon in the night and had no problems. I rode in every seat at least once with 9 laps on front and the 5 or so in the back. And then throw 7 rides on TT and Dominator each. I went to BGW the next day and my shoulders were bruised cuz of the restraints. Also got 23 rides on Fury in a day 2 years ago
Dillon Sykes the park is dead 90% of their days. I rode Avalanche 12 times without getting off(cuz it opened before everything else after the rain) then we went to I305
Glen Clough All but Nitro In NA. Only one that comes close is Mako. The rest deliver next to no airtime or just meander around like Raging Bull after the mid brakes. Hypers with no MCBR are top tier like Goliath, doesn’t have the best first half by far but has great pacing until the end

I guess because 305 is themed after a NASCAR legend it probably does simulate just going around in circles.
I get that this is named after Dale Earnhardt.... but why 305..... his number was just 03....why add the 05?
LadyDragonsblood Because 305 is the height of the coaster itself.
@@Metalhead_Coaster_Fan Okay, that makes sense then.... just kind of confusing for a NASCAR fan LOL. Thanks for the info!

IMO the combination of Toro, Nitro, Ka, and the drop ride can’t be top by any other park and if we ever got another world class coaster it wouldn’t be an argument and I’ve been to all of the Major parks in the US.
blackjblck Once again: that is an o p i n i o n
We'll always be honest in our videos! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I'm glad your enjoying your trip to the Netherlands with Charlotte
That park looks really nice. I might have to make a visit there.
Hope you post the Kennywood vlog tomorrow, I may be visiting the park on Monday and was hoping for you to help me decide :P thanks for the quality content!
You will go on Steel curtain but they didn’t get the chance to
I305 is my 2nd favorite coaster behind El Toro
37:25 the woman screaming i don't want this...hahhahaha..too late now my dear..hehe.
I think after done so many coasters it is difficult to impress you with a coaster maybe? I dunno. For me having done a few coasters almost everything is intens for me haha.
I'm wondering when all the vids of the America trip are done are you two gonna do a recap vid and talk about the trip or no?
We will indeed be filming a recap video!
Very nice video and glad to see you visiting in the United States. Have a nice day now.
I absolutely love i305 but I completely respect your opinion 👌🏼
At night it was epic!
Yeah it really is!
I love grizzly too! I like twisted Timbers and i305 more, but it's a solid number 3 along with flight of fear and dominator.
Wonderful.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I've been waiting so long for this video! This is my home park.
Great vlog Shawn!! So glad you guys enjoyed the parks from my home state!!
Kings Dominion looks an interesting park with some interesting coasters. Shame Volcano closed though.
After watching the Southport Pleasureland vlog it seems like Shawn is much less critical of the local parks even though some things are atrocious. I'm sure though with all that money spent on the road trip expectations are high and can only imagine how overhyped everything has been!
Fuzzy Tabby It’s because there’s no hype for places like Southport as opposed to these parks
We'll always be honest and share our opinions!
Parades that aren't Disney are hard to watch.
Ew
The Hansa Park Parade is brilliant though.
Twisted Timbers would be perfect for any UK park *cough*Drayton Manor*cough* or even Thorpe/Alton.
Looks like a nice park overall.
The layout that you’re looking at on the diagram is the old lay before they modified it.
Confuses me as to why you’ve been so critical of almost everything this trip. Seems to me that the tiredness/illness has got in the way of enjoying the rides
Most of his reviews at the end of each vlog have been positive.
If you watch until the end you'll know we had a great time here and loved I305 at night!
Neat seeing I park I vist frequently through a vlog🤣
Completely disagree with your opinion on i305. Easily my second favorite coaster and I rode it 27 times in a day, and I live for crazy transitions. Everything up to the trim is perfection but the ending is still better than any B&M hyper after the MCBR.
Yes totally agree
How many B&M hypers have you ridden as a comparison though?
Dillon Sykes the park is dead 90% of their days. I rode Avalanche 12 times without getting off(cuz it opened before everything else after the rain) then we went to I305
Glen Clough All but Nitro In NA. Only one that comes close is Mako. The rest deliver next to no airtime or just meander around like Raging Bull after the mid brakes. Hypers with no MCBR are top tier like Goliath, doesn’t have the best first half by far but has great pacing until the end
it takes a lot to impress Brett. lol
Take a shot every time Taylor says “Absolutely”!
Love your videos and love your hat (go vols).
Cheers
I found i305 to be incredible, please don't form an opinion on it because of what Shawn and Alex said about it.
Fishul i agree you can’t seem make them happy
Stuart Whlting Nah, i305 is just a snooze fest. Fury is great, Shawn and Alex agreed
To be fair he changed his mind at the end of the vlog.
You didn’t watch the full vlog, go back and watch it again and then comment
Fishul Clearly you didn’t watch the whole vlog
Such a shame they took down the volcano coaster, from other people's povs it looked like it was a lot of fun
