- Hey whatup guys OSG here and continuing with the kickass series and today it’s the C64s turn to kick its 16bit brother’s ass as we look at 10 games where the c64 kicked the amigas as
There’s no doubt that both of these commodore machines were great, but some games were just that little bit better on the 8bit. Obviously, we aren’t talking graphics here as the Amiga wiped the floor with the C64 in that respect but as I have found through my 35 years of gaming that a game isn’t all about looks…. You need good gameplay and great music too when you have those two things the graphics aren’t as important as you think.
So without more delay let’s take a look at 10 c64 games that kicked the amigas ass….well maybe not kicked…arrrh you know what I mean

Intro/Outro music - Myth History in the Making (Jereon Tel) Remix by Marton Bencze - Ігри
I've just started developing on C64, what the developers got out of it back in the day is incredible.
Best of luck, its a wonderful machine to develop for. Once you get the hang of irq interrupts, sprites, scrolling and coding multicolour raster bars you won't look back. 6502 rocks!!
@@marksims3904 Been developing for Atari, Intellivision and NES mostly (I'm a hobby Dev). But I want to develop for these machines too!
Apart from the gameplay, the sid chip music also brings something to the overall experience in so many c64 titles that no other system can match
true that mate
Totally agree. Even as far back as Treasure Island Dizzy... Give me the C64 versions of the Dizzy games over the Spectrum any day of the week, purely because of the fantastic sound track.
@@C64_Mat Crystal Dizzy remake on ZX Spectrum has better soundtrack than the C64 version of the game. Lot more variation in music and not just that single song all over again like on the C64 version.
I prefer the c64 synth audio to the sampled amiga audio.
I was expecting possible Mission Impossible 2 and especially Neuromancer to be on this list as the music alone on both simply blows the Amiga versions out of the ocean.
WIzball, like many early Amiga games was just a crappy ST port. Such a missed opportunity.
Oh I remember back in day, all the amiga owners were so annoyed about loads of games that were just ported from the ST. lazy developers
@@icemanxtreme1981 not quite as simple as being lazy.
They were often working under strict deadlines or in cases of working for likes of Probe, Tiertex etc, were paid exactly the same to port ST code as they were to code for the Amiga from the ground up.
Great video. In retrospect I think I got rid of my C64 far too quickly for my new Amiga and so never got to play the same games on both systems. Only to realise years later, just like in this video, some of the games played better on the older system.
One of the things that surprised me about the Amiga when I bought one was how jerky sprites in games could be, as if the screen was only updating every other frame. Meanwhile the supposedly more primitive c64 almost always delivered silky smooth movement.
maybe the early Amiga games were like that but once the devs got to grips with it they churned out some great games...same with the C64 games really when you look at some of the early 1982 games compared to the late 80's early 90's games
Often C64 games could muster a better frame rate, that makes them move more fluidly. A lot of Amiga games, even by top developers like the Bitmap Brothers, seem to have on average sub 25 FPS or even lower... like Gods and even the Chaos Engine. Now of course, this is also due to the Amiga having to move more pixels and colours around the screen etc. and I'm not technically savvy enough to explain this any better.
If you watch an episode of Battle of the Ports and see all of the versions on screen at once in the end, it is quite often the case that of the 8 and even 16 bit micros, the C64 clearly has a frame rate closer to the Arcade and appears to move considerably smoother. If it's a 2D game with smallish sprites and scrolling that is.
A lot of the early games were ports from the Atari ST, written in such time contraints that they simply couldn’t utilize the Amiga’s hardware properly. Later on, when the ST started to die out, Amiga games improved considerably.
I started out with a Spectrum before moving to an Amiga, so can't do the same comparisons, but the Amiga was definitely disappointing when it came to many conversions that it should have knocked out the park.
I’d only say this was true for early Amiga games. Once the software houses got to grips with it the Amiga was as capable or more so than the Megadrive/Genesis or SNES.
I always thought that CREATURES looked better and had more charm on the C64. The Amiga version just felt overdone.
Great vidy as always, mate.
Creatures 1 & 2 will always be C64 masterpieces. That's where their true home lies, just like Mayhem in Monsterland, Impossible Mission and Armalyte.
@@C64_Mat Hear, Hear.
John and Steve Rowlands were prolific programmers. If someone told me they were from the future, I wouldn't dismiss it.
Ah, my favourite C64 channel returns!
I still play Myth and Supremacy on the guitar today. Jeroen Tel is awesome :-)
Agree with all of your choices especially Wizball, it's my favourite game on the 64 and it's perfection. The nearest anyone got to it was the updated PC version.
Excellent list, excellent choices.
thanks mate, are you Denny from Facebook? if so happy birthday for yesterday :-)
@@oldstylegaming I am Paul and thank you 👍
Yes. The PC / Mac version was fantastic!
Another high quality vid and very interesting, great job!
SWEET it's always awesome to see a new OSG video.
Thanks mate
I'd suggest that well over 50% of C64 games had better playability than their Amiga counterparts.
The majority of the best Amiga games tended to originate on the 16-bit platform.
Great compilation as always mate 👊
That's true 😉👍
The Amiga suffered so much with the idiocy of trying to force more complex games onto a single button control setup. It almost never worked, and hurt the platform in the longer term.
@The Fat Actors Podcast Well yeah... U.S. Gold et al...
@@Yukatoshi the Amiga was not a single button control setup, it could (and did sometimes when the devs were not asses) support two button sticks. Now most games were designed targeting the ST and just ported to the Amiga hence the lack of two button support, and because of that most users were only using single button setups which caused devs to still be programming for single button joysticks and so on and so forth. Desert Strike (if memory serves me) supported two button controls as well as a bunch of other games
@The Fat Actors Podcast the Amiga did not tend to have piss poor arcade ports. It had many, but it also had many good ones. Silkworm, rainbow islands, bubble bobble, toki, ghosts and goblins (almost arcade perfect apart from the fact you couldn't face backwards midair when jumping in one direction), pang, rodland, liquid kids, snowbros (I know it remained unreleased until we hit the 2000s+ but it was coded back in the day) and many many more
Brilliant list, nice work!
Thanks for the great work Sir
Yooo OSG wassssup my man you always pop up on my notifications at the perfect time. Had my first pro match lost 3-1 but it was so much fun 💪
Pro Match?
@@oldstylegaming ah I thought I'd said before lol it was armwrestling 😁
No mate i dont recall that...im shit at arm wrestling...my wife would probably beat me hahahaha
@@oldstylegaming haha 🤣🤣🤣 creased lol we had an Australian commentator and a Canadian guy i Armwrestled flown over for it didn't at Whitby livestream too much fun 😁
Great vid! for the most part they went to the extra mile to make the games more fun on the C64 and you could use your imagination to fill in any blanks. On the amiga it was a case of 'hey this looks nice, but it sucks, play it'
Man i got to this a bit late didn't i 😂😂 Man am so with you on Defender of the Crown i loved it on both but the C64 was that bit better and that intro music on Myth on the C64 is pure class. As always buddy great video and i will try not to be so late seeing the next one, take it easy 🙂
The only one I think that you missed off the list was Power Drift. Whoever programmed the C64 version knew they would never be able to make it anything like the arcade version and instead decided to program a really great racer that was fun to play, while the Amiga version tried to replicate the graphics of the arcade, failed on that count and also forgot the gameplay while they were at it.
Nice vid, I would have included ghouls'n'ghosts which I literally loved on c64 but I was really disappointed when I finally got it on my amiga.
Awesome video thanks once again for making it, i still love my C64 :)
Thanks for watching!
Battle Valley on C64 is another example, glad I never tried the Amiga version at the time or I'd have been super disappointed.
One of the most glaring examples, Hawkeye, is missing.
true
Haha. Ey up! I just saw it's you and are 10th in Ikara Warriors on Antsream Arcade! I managed 3rd place after about a few hundred tries! Lol
the controls are wank on Antstream for that game. The rotation is a nightmare for me or I would get much further lol
Loved this! Thank you. I agree on every game except Defender of The Crown. 👌👌👌
I know mate...although the C64 has much more gameplay features (and so did the ST) the Amiga version is always the one I think of when it comes DotC as it was the one I played with my mates
@@oldstylegaming yes, I think its the nostalgia which kicks in here for me. I will not let go of this! 🤭😉☺️
Looks cool with the side by side monitors and alternating music m8. Couple here I didn't know had a C64 version like Armalyte, Katakis and escpecially DOTC! I'll have to check em out. Yeah Bionic Commando was shite on Amiga for sure! I remember looking forward to Amiga Wizball as I was a big fan of the C64 and being disapointed....Great vid m8
The music for the c64 version of wizball was unreal.
Alot of great history behind those Commodore lines. The 20, 64 and Amiga all had great games, still fun today.
So many budget Amiga games look like early Flash Games!
I have to admit I absolutely loved the Amiga version of Arnie back in the day. I never played the C64 version so I cannot compare. It does look more versatile and playable though.
Another great video, when comparing Amiga and C64 the good news is we are all winners!
so true mate, tbh i would play all of these on either of them and be happy...maybe not Katakis though
More, more, more!! I love these comparisons, especially when the c64 is the hero! What about Cybernoid, Outrun, Powerdrift?
Yeah all better on the c64 i could have probably doubled this list
Golden Axe
@The Fat Actors Podcast Super Hang-On on the C64 was absolute dog shit compared to the Amiga version!
@The Fat Actors Podcast Cisco Heat as well. As far as Hard Drivin' is concerned, they should never even attempted it, but I digress.
'Sid Meier's Pirates!'
Commodore 64 games were meant to be played with joystick and while some games play better with a mouse, like 'Populous,'
fighting moves were better executed with a joystick. I'll say, joystick was the only way to go when fighting with sword, bare hands, or in platform games (which I don't prefer).
The trusty old C=64 could not compare with the Amiga when we're talking about games specifically designed for the Amgiga.
Like 'Populous,' 'Syndicate,' and of course 'Midwinter.'
Your videos r great and they give good retrospective. But, does anyone know one space shoot em up. Havent seen it after i have had my C64. It was sold on multigame package. Fly in space with astronaut, similiar things almost as in first game on this video.I would like everyone to try it out.
I was like Last Ninja II before i watched the video System 3 were great on the C64 but sucked on the Amiga.
One of my favourite Devs and Last Ninja II Remix was my favourite game the music was awesome.
What a great idea for a video 😉
Before I even pressed play on the video, I said to myself "Defender of the Crown". I remember starting up the Amiga version for the first time, and being thrown off by the music. The graphics were much better of course, but the game didn't feel as fun as the C64.
4:40 Also going to add Last Ninja 3, and once more primarily because of the music. The Ninja games will always be C64 games for me, the SID Chip is just the big difference maker.
Some of the titles on that list suffered on the Amiga because it got a lot of ST ports. Games like Bionic Commando, Untouchables & Wizball were essentially ST games with slightly better graphics & sound.
I heard Tony Crowther's strange 1989 shmup "Phobia" was better on the C64 than the Amiga, too. I think what most of these games have in common is that they were early Amiga titles (first couple of years) and date from a time when devs had 7+ years of experience getting the best out of the C64 but mostly just ported Atari ST code to the Amiga, making no use of its custom hardware.
I haven’t played all these games on both systems. But those that I have , I agree 100%. Except Defender of the crown. That one I actually prefered onnthe Amiga. Otherwise you’re spot on mate.
Flimbos Quest was better on the c64,the colours and parallax scrolling just popped where on the amiga it felt a bit drab.
Had both when I was young and although I loved my Amiga, I had a C64 (several times) far longer and I still prefer it’s amazing SID chip to the Amiga’s! It’s unique sound is still amazing to this day. Graphics wise, I agree with the comments about scrolling and sprite movement seeming faster and smoother on the C64 the majority of the time. My favourite computer/console ever! ❤
I can't disagree with any of these. Next for me would be Buggy Boy - the Amiga's port wasn't bad, but the C64's was amazing.
Agree. I love playing on the C64. The amiga is nice for some eye candy, but gameplay is not there.
2:52 Somebody made the C64 sound like a TB-303.
I don't know if I'm the only one but for me it's International Karate before all the others .
Sensible software didn't handle the port of Wizball for the Amiga, possibly a reason why it was so hit and miss. Still Wizball was one of the first games I finished on the C64 and Amiga back in the day, such a beautiful game...as long as you don't take a look at the IBM-PC version...oh boy!! You will have nightmares.
So many Amiga games were just shovelware, usually platformers or shoot-em-ups which were clones of other ones with very basic gameplay or just no attention to detail, great comparison as usual.
Maybe you can help me find a game - here is a description of the C64 game: Attract mode you see a Blue knight fighting some creatures and stabbing them with a sword. When you use the sword it makes a strange sound. You get health from picking up Gold and each screen the game changes like a Resident Evil Game. Game had Puzzles like Legend of Zelda and some interesting game design too it. Also has a Trap part where you come across a Castle with Teeth that will eat you. Game is pretty much silent until an Enemy Appears on the Screen. Any Ideas on what game that is? Thanks if you can help It had a strange name for the game as well.
oh myth ..great soundtrack
Definetly KATAKIS, my favourite C64 game. I could't even recognize it on the AMIGA.
Love my Commodore 64 wouldnt part with it for love or money. Flimbo's quest is a great game and plays slighty better than Amiga, even tho the Amiga as great graphics and fantastic music.
The untouchables on the c64, played that 100s of times. That was a good game
So what about those sports games by Epyx? I assume their better on the Commdore 64, right?
I would argue that C64's Arnie is more an equivalent to Amiga's Arnie II rather than Arnie.
I'd cast a vote for Cinemaware's "Sinbad and the Throne of the Falcon" as well. The C64 not only plays better but looks and sounds far more cinematic, whereas the Amiga version, while having the hardware to create something stunning, looks and sounds kind of a mess and didn't really come through on a lot of the mini-games. The C64 version still has its issues, sure, but it's a significant improvement.
Wizball just had an aura of "Wrong" on the Amiga. Possibly being much of an ST port and not a 64 port. Zynaps is another port that doesn't give good vibes.
Hmm I have a feeling that a lot of Amiga games were just rushed insanely. Especially arcade, platform games, generally games that were ported from other (arcade, gamepad-controlled) platforms.
I loved Amiga strategy games (Championship Manager, Mega-lo-mania, Battle Isle, Deuteros, K240, Reunion, Utopia), economical (Detroit, Transarctica, ports of call), RPG (ishar, dreamweb, elvira, perihelion), Point n Click games - generally games that required mouse - I think that these are the games that truly shine on Amiga - this is something no other system had and that's the real beauty of having Amiga computer. Not rushed arcade / joystick controlled games. (of course there are some good ones too xD)
ps. I would even argue that some games even look better on C64 (Platoon ? Last Ninja 2 ?) which is truly crazy xD
You know how much of a C64 fanboy I am OSG so I'm kinda duty bound to give this a like. hehe 🤣
lol, hope all is well mate long time no see
@@oldstylegaming All is good just been working my A$$ off all summer. 😀
i had both consoles loved them both is it me or does Arnie on Amiga 500 look identical to Fire Force, i feel stupid for selling both C64 and Amiga 500
Thanks OSG. Totally agree. And Last Ninja 2 was such a disappointment. Got it as a birthday present back in the days. It would have been awesome, if its development would have been done by the same team who did Last Ninja Remix on Amiga, which is just great.
Last Ninja 2 they really screwed up the jump. The ninja goes from a standing to a tight somersault then literally just stands up on the spot and the movement is completely wrong. And the music is dire compared to the C64
Great list....
Personal experiences; every Boulderdash game just plays best on a Commodore 64...also I love playing Rick Dangerous games over the Amiga ones...
And nowadays we even have Eye on the Beholder to compete against the Amiga lol...
I love these formats of yours with the various differences of games between systems.
However when I think of a game that came out better on the C64 than on the Amiga, Great Gianna Sister comes to mind (although the problem is not that the Amiga version is worse, rather it must have been much better..) but especially LED Storm.
LED Storm on the Amiga I remember it slow and jerky, while on the C64 it was faster and smoother with even paralactic scrolling..
Out Run was also better on the C64, but that's because the Amiga version I think is one of the worst conversions ever made....
Couldn't agree more..... these games where much better on the C64 👍
c64 last ninja was uncontrollable IMO
you get used to them, i have completed it many times now
@@oldstylegaming love the sound and feeling of this game, but the controls have always been a weak point for sure..but thats so long ago for me sadly 🙏
There were times when I could nearly play Katakis blindfolded....
Same with rtype on c64
I only ever played Arnie on the amiga and was so disappointed so look forward to playing the c64 version, ive never played defender of the crown 😳 katacus looks awesome I need to play that, I never ever got into the last ninja think it was the controls for me but I do appreciate how good it was for the time, ive just picked up Myth in my Amstrad bundle looking forward to playing that fingers crossed it plays as good as the c64, platoon is a game that I enjoyed so much bitd on my mates c64 another bunch of games here to add to my c64 maxi mate
Myth on the Amstrad is a totally different game mate, like the Spectrum I think... its not a bad game but its not really Myth in my eyes
@@oldstylegaming damn it myth is another speccy port on the Amstrad then I will have to get the rom for my c64 maxi
Katakis?!! That blew me away when I got this on my Amiga - Factor5 buttery smooth throughout. Not sure how the c64 version could ever beat this! (I'd ditched the C64 a couple of years earlier via the Atari ST, tho was duped when my uncle showed me Goldrunner on it with the most amazing smooth insanely fast vertical scrolling - never to be repeated on that system. Most were jerk fests)
One of my personal C64 favourites was Airborne Ranger and I found the Amiga version to be nowhere near as good.
Not sure if you've covered these topics before... Ever conciderd doing a best of music or best intro sequence on the C64?
Ill take a look mate
@@oldstylegaming cheers m8 and keep up the good work with the channel. Last ninja 3 has a great intro and carnage has excellent music on title screen
@@oldstylegaming cheers m8 and cheers for a great channel 👍
@@matthewchakera8366 and x-out does too
@@oldstylegaming il sure check that one out 👍
Arkanoid - Even though the Amiga version had two sets of levels, I preferred playing the C64 version for the simple fact that I could use Atari paddle controllers. I'll never forgive the developers of Arkanoid 2 for removing the paddle option in favor of a mouse.
Buggy Boy/Speed Buggy - The C64 version had a better sense of speed.
Elite - While the 3D graphics on the Amiga version were fast and smooth, the game felt empty. There was only one type of space station. Enemies were immediately marked as such, allowing you to snipe them from a distance, rather than having to wait to see if they would attack. Thargoids would attack beside normal pirates. And if a Thargoid follows you inside the safe zone and you shoot at it, the police will come out and kill YOU.
Paradroid - The Amiga version only scrolls vertically, making the levels smaller. The "busy" background graphics make enemy shots harder to see and the different robot designs, while a nice idea, make it harder to tell what type of robot you're challenging, if you haven't memorized what all the robots look like.
Amiga never had paddle support to my knowledge
I was thinking wizball that whole video then it came up last
I liked Batman the Movie on C-64 much more than on Amiga. The almost monochromatic graphics had a better style than Amiga and overall it seemed more playable somehow (I can be mistaken on the second one, I never played them back to back).
5:24 Someone get James Rolf in here... THIS is Conan on NES... seems that game had even less to do with the movie than he thought.
Hawkeye was nice too!
Emlyn hughes cosmos , anothe C64 game that kicked Amiga ass
Sacrilege!, but true.
I loved the tune on C64 Untouchables.
The Amiga music of lot of 8 bit game conversions show how musicians didn't know Paula at the time. Publishers were telling them "I want you to take part of the Amiga sound capabilities, no matter the cost". But it was of course difficult to convert soundchip music using little PCM samples available on the first Soundtracker. There are lot of other examples IMO like Cybernoid, Cybernoid 2, Exolon, Batman, Rambo 3, Robocop. Just for that, I will always prefer to play these games on Atari ST, C64 or CPC, just because the music on Amiga is completely broken.
Good list and agree with all of them. For me, the C64 version of Wicked is more atmospheric than the Amiga.
I think thats the first time you've ever totally agreed with me lol
Two computers I did not own, although I did use the C64. Didn't play any of the games though.
Creatures , hawkeye , power drift , robocop , total recall .so many better on the 8 bit system
Nice list, But you missed off Power Drift & Creatures. Power Drift C64 was far superior to the naff arcade version IMO and Creatures C64 just beats the Amiga port hands down.
I agree. The Original Power Drift arcade was shite, which is probably one of the main reasons the Amiga version sucked, was that it tried to copy the terrible arcade game. To be honest, I also prefer the C64 version of Buggy Boy to the original arcade as well.
there are loads of better versions of games on c64 ,hawkeye ,airborne ranger ,turrican 2 ,california games ,world games ,winter games , into the eagles nest ,football manager ,the last ninja ,microprose soccer ,out run ,power drift ,creatures ,cybernoid 2 ,vixen ,army moves ,battle valley ,bangkok knights ,fernandez must die.
that should keep you going for a video or two.
I'm not sure any C64 game has better music than Platoon. Maybe The Last Ninja.
yeah its a close one between Platoon, Last Ninja 2 and Myth for me...although Myth has no in game music
Golden Axe C64 music for me...too bad for the gameplay
I always like the Code Masters' Dizzy games better on Commodore 64 instead of the (graphically superior and more accurate gameplay) Amiga versions...
Theres just something about these C64 versions that make it irresistable to me...
Love both the C64 and Amiga. Gonna be tough to comment on this one as its mixed feelings here. Ive always preffered the Amiga version of Myth as it was the first one I played after playing a Demo on Cover Disk. Not saying C64 version is bad, I just played it extremely late, and the change in Controls took some getting used to, like that forward Jump being Down and Fire. Great Music, but there just isn't enough of it.
Armalyte on Amiga I love, but I cannot get past Level 2, but C64 version, again I played late, is superb. Katakis/Denaris I love both versions. If both versions are different, not a bad thing as your getting an extra Game. Music is much better on C64, I agree.
Wizball, I agree 100 percent, C64 is the ultimate here. Only played Amiga version a few times and I get to Level 2, but nowhere near to the C64 Version.
a lot of games will get the nostalgia factor if you played the Amiga one first I think. I personally dont like Armalyte or katakis at all on the Amiga, Myth is a good game but I dont like that they changed the main character ...just doesnt feel like the game should control wise, the C64 is much more floaty in the jumps.....but really no one is right or wrong when it comes to retro games, people will always like what they like especially if it has some kind of link to their childhood
Gianna Sisters. I know it has bugs on the C64 but the Gameplay and Feeling is much better on the C64.
so most of these are the common, it is more like a remake of the original instead of being an enhanced port.
It was an era of no automatic ports through software tools, so developers had to work really hard to port a game as it was almost entirely from scratch. Thus we see those huge gaps between various versions - sometimes it goes as far as looking at a different game altogether. For a well-made game for 8-bit there was absolutely no guarantee that the devs porting it to 16-bit would work hard enough. Too many lazy ports for that matter. In many cases, also, it was an entirely different company that ported it.
I think to call the developers given the ports "lazy" isn't completely accurate. Sure, you're going to get some people who just want to make a quick buck, but a lot of the people responsible for porting games were young men in their twenties, trying to break into the scene. They'd sometimes be given just a few weeks to do a conversion by the publisher, so did what they could with the time.
@@C64_Mat Not the devs literally. I was just using the "lazy port" term as it is often being used even today in order to describe a very poorly-made port, rather than describe the specific individuals as "lazy" literally. Given the huge superiority the Amiga had compared to all other systems (especially when compared to 8-bit), some ports really look unforgivable. There is absolutely no technical excuses for a game to look better on a C64 when compared to A500.
ragtime isnt exactly the music i think of when i think gangsters 😅
C 64 kick Amiga in music department. Amiga have quality music but C 64 have many many masterpieces.
You missed Power Drift. The C64 is probably the best racer on the system, the Amiga is a complete Turkey.... And another one , Stunt Car Racer.. still a great Amiga game, but for me it runs smoother on the C64..
You forgot Eliminator!!!!! Much better on the C64. The best music ever!!!!!
And Led Storm
I would like to add to the list California games, Summer games 1 and 2, One on One basketball, GBA Two on Two Baskeball, and Exolon. Much better games on the C64.
The title of the video should be: 10 games that the developers were morons and didnt know how to work with the Amiga.
Arnie looks really cool, just like you say, it looks like Who dares wins 2, which was one of my favorites on the ZX.
Paradroid. I love that game and still play it to this day. When Paradroid 90 came out on the Amiga, I was super excited, until I played it. What a letdown.
BTW, there is a great port/remake/clone for the Android phones - Freedroid. I'm not affiliated in any way, just a fan of the original and the port is very good, though a couple of aspects around how quickly damage accumulates and how the mini-game plays via on screen controls still means for me that my favourite is still the C64 version.
Ill have a look for that on android
@@oldstylegaming oh wow, a reply from the legend himself! You've made my day!
I hope you enjoy the freedoid clone. If you search for it, the guy who made it is listed in the app store as Reinhard Prix (I'm not trolling - that's really what he goes by. Must be foreign or something). I'd love to know what you think.
Maybe do an episode of 'awesome c64 games ported to android' - there are some great boulderdash clones, too. Wish there was a way to add a joystick to my phone. Any ideas, anyone?
10 times C64 kicked MS-DOS ass too.
Pirates! From microprose was also much better on the C64.
I'm sure the C64 Commando is unofficial rather than movie tie in
None of the Commandos were tied into the movie
@@oldstylegaming good game on the C64 though
I think North and South was better on the C64. After playing the C64 version first, the running parts on the Amiga version felt... wrong. They moved too fast.
You should do a video on the C64 games that kicked the PC ass! After all PC just had beeps and 4 colours at the time, and even EGA only had the same amount of colours as the C64!
Ill look into that
EGA has palette of 64 colours vs palette of 16 colours on C64. While EGA can only display 16 colours on the screen, you still have lot more colours to choose from.
@@timoheinonen9570 While that's true, most of the early DOS games suffered from poor controls and gameplay, as well as beeper speaker only support. Didn't help much that joysticks/gamepads for the PC didn't really get good until around 92-93
Niiiice
The problem is, a lot of those Amiga versions are Atari ST ports, because the programmers for the Amiga couldn't be bothered to learn the custom chipset, so you, Old Style Gaming, are TECHNICALLY comparing C64 to Atari ST. Don't you agree?
Which ones are you saying are ST ports?
