I have some favourite songs from Animals as leaders, Volumes, Meshuggah and Tesseract, that I dream of playing, but that's not going to happen ever. I'm just never going to be that good. I'm amazed by those drummers that just learn those songs effortless.
This Is a fantastic Video! No surprise there. I would love to see the same kind of detailed explanation on other groves from "Animals as Leaders" and "Periphery". Love your vids!
I was trying to figure this beat out by myself recently. It sounded doable until I tried it with the ghost notes, the main beat itself wasn't a problem but I couldn't figure out where the ghost notes went. The video really helped - took me like 15 minutes and now I'm able to play it :D Can't say the same about the rest of the song though :P
+ThunderHawk606 It costs money, can't afford it right now. Also why would I pay for drum lessons when I don't even have a drumset and a place to play right now? (I am aware of Matt's website and that he uploads lessons)
I'm happy because I actually have a stack now, haha. I'm excited to try this out! Great lesson Gabe :) Btw the other night I had a strange dream that I met you and got a personal lesson. Do dreams come true??? Lol!
I really like "Inner Assassins" or "Tooth and Claw" to be next. I really want to play drums, but I can't really find good drum tutors (except you) and even then, it's not like this is an easy beat. I still have yet to master my single to double exercises xD
Please, can anyone tell what cymbal is that? I see like too cymbals have been put together to get that particular sound. i am new at this. I know how to play drums, but i dont know to much about cymbals, drumheads, and all of that stuff. I am subscribing, this video helped me a lot.
+Frus77sh Thanks dude! It's actually probably the cheapest stack around. I have a super old 18" Zildjian Edge china and a 14" Peavy cymbal on top of it.
+Drum Beats Online he should cover to lead you to an overwhelming question. to this day I'm not sure it's been covered. definitely one of the most technical ones tosin's written.
You need to put a full count off before each tempo change so we dont start out different the editing is frustrating at times and trying to isolate one tempo is difficult without hearing another immediately before it
damn i usually have a lot of trouble learning songs from youtube videos but this one made it real easy for me somehow. great video. anyone know any other songs to learn with a similar feel to this beat?

I would recommend comming with your own beat with a drum machine and then trying to replicate it in real life.
Reverse engineering does wonders.

Dude, you need to audition for Guns n' roses. Trobadour show's drummer was nowhere near what they need and I bet you could do a better job. NOW! ;)
