In the mid-90’s I worked an event at my college in LA with Tom Arnold. The next day my relatives were in town from Illinois and wanted to go to PH… when we walked in NOT only was Tom Arnold actually eating there BUT he pointed at me and say “Hey, I know you!” The family was suitably impressed 🤣

We had one in Zurich, which didn't last long. Mediocre, overpriced food, a compulsory 20 minute wait at the bar, while your table "is readied", only to be shown into an empty, cavernous restaurant. People went once just to see what it was like. No one ever went back. It was horrible!

Something I find interesting is that Planet Hollywood jackets have became pretty trendy over the last few years. Urban Outfitters have started remaking and selling them, plus they’ve been referenced on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia too.

It's a bit obscure, but you might want to talk about Dive!, which was a submarine themed restaurant that Jeffrey Katzenburg and Steven Spielberg worked together to make a place that combined high quality sandwiches with an immersive experience for audiences. There were two locations in Los Angeles and Las Vegas in the early 90s.

At one point, Harborplace here in Baltimore had a Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe and an ESPN Zone, all at the same time. Only Hard Rock is still there. I visited PH once just to check out the memorabilia (we had one of the Beauty School Dropout costumes from Grease that I wanted to see). The place was crowded, loud, and too expensive to eat at, but it was kind of fun.

I got a chance to visit the restaurant in Las Vegas last year, and it’s pretty excellent. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is nice, and the memorabilia is cool. I even got a t-shirt from the gift shop after we eat. It’s kinda sad that Planet Hollywood has been falling from relevancy after the novel fell off, but good thing the brand is not going away forever, and heck I even visit Buca di Beppo and Earl of Sandwich, in which they both own. You made a great video man, can’t wait to see your future videos soon, and I would love to see a video on The Official All Star Cafe one day. Keep up the excellent work!

The first time I ever went to PH was in the summer 1998. It was my tenth birthday and we drove from Ocean Isle Beach to Myrtle Beach to go to the Pavilion and Ripleys museum, and stopped to eat at PH on the way back up north. When we were leaving, we saw an area that was being closed off with tall curtains with the logo on them. I was able to peak through and it was Kevin Bacon and his brother doing promos for their show at House of Blues. That’s as exciting of a time I think anyone could realistically expect at a PH location.

I lived in moscow at the time and me and my parents visited the place a few times. I had some merch like the piggy bank, and some children books bought for me there, which i sadly no longer have. Its still mesmerising when i remember it. You were greeted witha huge Terminator life size statue spinning at the entrance, flashy interrior and movie music. It was unlike anything i’ve seen back in day and since. The restaurant was split in three sections, the shop which was a trip downstairs, and then the two sections of the restaurant. We always liked to sit in the second area where the lighting was dim, the walls were painted in a dark cosmic colour pallete with planets, stars and glowing moons, sprinkled with space movie memorabilia. I don’t remember the food but nothing to complain about as a 5y.o. kid. I kinda want to get some merch from ebay now lol

When I was about 13 and went to Orlando I really thought Planet Hollywood was a Space themed restaurant, their gift shop was all space-themed with space ice cream and since its a dome I thought it was like eating in a planetarium. I was so excited to eat there and when we went inside the restaurant I believed they had a batman suit at the entrance and I thought "Huh, that's a weird thing to have at a space-themed restaurant." I felt so disappointed when we actually went inside only to hear music that was so loud we had to scream to order and to talk. "At least the food must be good, this is Guy Fieri's menu!" I thought to myself, but nope we had hamburgers that were way overseasoned I felt I was biting into pepper instead of meat and I felt so bad since I was the one who wanted to eat there in the first place!!

I worked at PH in Reno, Nv. In the mid/late 90’s. The training for that job was no joke - so much memorizing! And at that time the food may have been overpriced but not horrible, the Chicken Crunch was definitely the most popular item. It started out with a bang but definitely crashed and burned.

I have some great memories of the Planet Hollywood in my city of Phoenix, AZ. Some friends and I went to grand opening and got to see a lot of celebs walk the red carpet. I saw Bruce Willis and his band perform. We went every day for the first week of its opening and saw lots of stars. Ate Captain Crunch chicken tenders a table over from John Goodman. Shook Sly Stallone’s hand. Adult me realizes those appearances were a marketing gimmick but for 14 year old me it was incredible.

I worked at the PH location,in melbourne Australia, loved it,met heaps of overseas stars, and local celebrities, and enjoyed the food,it was a great experience, and we had the All star cafe next to us,which was cool.
But never knew of the stuff behind the scenes, untill we were told,we were all going to be jobless, and, then they shut her down,so,this video is interesting.

I remember going to one of these about 20 years ago as part of a high school trip. Cool place at the time (this was around 1996/7.. of course the food was another thing that had little to be desired). Of course, back then while in high school, us kids didn't care.

I worked at the nashville planet Hollywood in the mid/late 90s. The training to be a server was brutal! We had to memorize so much stuff. We mad lots of money- there was an auto gratuity on parties. Most didnt notice it on their checks, so 80% of the time we were double tipped. The money was so good, before a shift, there were always servers in the breakroom who were willing to buy your shift for around 40$. But theyd make a couple 100 working :)
All that being said, i hated that job!

I was a cooperate server trainer for PH 1993-96. I got to travel and open new restaurants and teach others to serve the “stars”. 🤪. It was the heyday of PH and a fabulous time. I’ve got stories.

I’ve never been to Planet Hollywood mainly because everything was over priced and it didn’t seem appealing to go. I’ve been to a few Hard Rock Cafes but they seemed more upscale and clean. Where as Planet Hollywood looked like a smelly old arcade or Chuck E. Cheese intended to bring in adults.

I heard about Planet Hollywood through the Turner Home Entertainment promos for Johnny Quest Videos with Space Ghost on the Laffalympic tapes. Wish I would had gone to the themed restaurant, even if the food quality will be less exciting. Glad I've been to Hard Rock Cafe at the Paramount Theater.
