tbh long range sniping is the most effective kind of sniping in my opinion... the point of the sniper is to take out tactical targets (such as mg gunners, vehicle pilots, soldiers in vantage points) not to take out every S.O.B who you see...

Actually realistically that is not 100% true, snipers take out HVT's yes but their main objective is also providing recon and info about things.

My first time long range sniping. Using M40A5. Got a few kills on a 300-1000 meter distance. Feels freakin awesome to get those headshot

You know, I love what your doing. Teaching people to actually snipe. In every battle there should be balance. The snipers providing covering fire, the assault going in on the head on charge providing med kits, the support laying back proving suppressing fire and throwing ammo up, and the engineer either riding with vehicles or flanking with there pdws. It shouldn't all be 10 m quickscopers who came straight from cod, I hate when that happens. And yes you paid money for the game so you can do what you want, but at least be a team player. Sniping can clear an objective so that your team can capture it, you don't have to be right in the middle of the action

1) Give it time. My channel isn't huge.
2) I usually take whatever maps come up in long range sniping specific servers. Altai Range, Golmud Railway, and Paracel Storm are the most popular.

when i played golmud railway there were very les snipers so how do you do this??
My longest headshot was on Paracel Storm at 1664 meters using the SRR-61 with the 14x/40x scope and straight pull bolt

I have to tell you i was a Sniper in military (Portuguese special forces) left the military 9 years ago...As far as i can see the game requests some real knowledge of shooting...offcourse its still a game! Im glad battlefield make it this far never played 3 or 4, i used to play battlefield 2 lolll I played alot of COD (when it was good lol) and the snipers the r WTF is this lol nice vid ;)
Pro Tip: Don't have a range finder? Use checkpoints, teammates, etc., and use their distance from you to figure the distance from you to the target.
For Example: The Enemy is at point B. Point B is 500m away from me. Thus, the enemy is 500m away.
This is VERY helpful. I am a first-time player (Originally from CoD) and I love snipers, so this video explains everything in such a great depth.
Your video has helped me tremendously. Ive been playing since BF3 but have always sucked at sniping until only recently (well, I still suck, but alot less than I used to). id say almost but the best or rather the worst is when you both take shots at exactly the same time over a 1k distance and kill each other at the same instance

PICK_6_TOUCHDOWN Great video. I've been using the SRR-61 and I love it. Usually with the straight pull bolt, 8x, and 14x variable but I just unlocked the range finder so I've been using that instead of the variable zoom. I can hit targets up to about 500 or 600meters almost every time, but I'm having trouble hitting moving targets. Could you please give me some pointers on hitting moving targets or make a video on it? It would help alot.
I am just not joining the Battlefield 4 community. Slightly tired of CoD quickscope sniping. I thought I was a BEAST with the Sniper rifle In CoD. Came to BF4 was a complete noob!

I got to say two things one straight pull is for people that spam a sniper it's not skill the other sniper can't focus because of suppression two range finder is for noobs your not a sniper if you can't tell distance

My longest distance shot was only about 336m using the L96A1 x8 scope, straight bolt pull and variable zoom. :'(
I was feeling sweet then got smiled by someone using Srr (dunno what, its the last rifle and I haven't unlocked it). Their kill cam showed them at some kinda garbage distance tiny orange speck and only using a x8 scope. I was like, bullsh!t!!
I tried the m98b, but if someone gets within 200m you are screwed if you miss.
Would you use the L96A1 for long range? I have the x40 now, but can't hit anything, which is why I'm here.

It is entirely possible to use the L96 for longer range, but it wouldn't be my preference. You'd have to account for more bullet drop than the SRR-61, so instead of 200-250m per like on the 40x scope, it would be around 120m per line. If a target is about, say, 1500m away and you've zeroed to 1000m, you'd be about 4 lines down.
My longest headshot (in bf3 I know this video is about bf4 but I think sniping in bf3 is more difficult than in bf4)
So my record is only 1009m (Gulf of Oman USA team m98b with 12x and bipod :D)
My longest was 354 meters with the SRR-61 with the 40X scope and straight pull, on Altai range!
My longest hs was 1431 meter with 40X scope on the ssr-61
***** in all fairness the longest range sniper confirmed kill until 2002 was with an m2 browning .50 cal machinegun so dont feel too derpy

i have a lot of questions:
1: what is a sniper specific server?
2: how the hell do you find enemy snipers on that range cause thats the hardest thing for me.
3: there is one thing i totally dont get and thats the horisontal crosshair thing, cause i you wanna snipe someone you eed to know how much you have to compensate for the bullet and you said that once you go one horisontal stripe lower, your compensating for 100 metres, but there are the long or big crosshair stripes, and the short ones, so my question is do you have to use the long stripes or just the first ones cause i wanted to snipe somebody on 800 metres so i put it on 500 metres and i compensated the first 3 crosshair stripes, and the 3 big or long crosshair stripes but by both cases the bullet didnt even come close, so plz help me!
you find sniper / pistol severs by going to multiplayer and clicking on sever browser and type in sniper it works on all consoles and pc
i did that but i only found team death match servers and domination servers with too small maps

oh you can if you are looking for long range sniper battles you can look for sniper only conquest games no one plays objective and you get easy 1000 meter kills :D hope I helped

BF4 is so realistic that the sniper bullets defy gravity and travel much faster than in real life.

actually, it is, each weapon uses the REAL distance that the bullet travel before gravity starts droping them, and the drop is just like in real life, the only diference is that they didn't add the wind factor, cause it would make sniping just impossible

Hey thanks for the help. I was having trouble, but I realized I was trying to make 150ish yd shots, but today I started trying to make 300 yd+ shots(tough without a rangefinders) with a 14x zoom I used the cs-lr4 for a 446 and a 599 in a match. Keep up the good tutorials

Nice video covers everything you need to know. I used to play battlefield 4 on ps4, I got so many long range kills, longest headshot was 1500m, (didn't had premium maps) and I used to get 1200m shots all the time. It's an amazing game.
Just started playing Battlefield 4 today and I watched a lot of sniping videos and I'm into that so I bought the game. I was really good at it at battlefield 3 so this should be easy to get used to by the weekend

This was a great guide. I like how you gave mathematical connections to the horizontal lines on the 40x scope because I was used to doing it by feel and sometimes miscalculating and missing a vital shot.

+PICK_SIX sorry for appearing out of nowhere but I just wanted to say that destiny sniping is really easy compared to battlefield because of the high aim assist on snipers.
I haven't found that to be the case, actually. Granted, there are dozens of conceivable factors (i.e. Different aim assist values, server lag, my internet lag, inexperience, etc.) for why I'm inconsistent, but aim assist isn't the reason why the great players are great.
Since everyone has the same weapons, and everyone deals with aim assist, the skill isn't automatically eliminated from the equation BECAUSE of aim assist. That's a fallacious argument. I'd contribute inconsistency to one or more of the above listed variables.

I really enjoyed this video. You're long range sniping montage is my FAVORITE BF4 video since long range sniping has been my favorite part of BF since I first played 1942 on my friends computer.
You are completely correct in the fact that LR sniping in BF4 is incredibly easy compared to BF3. For BF3 I actually created a to scale reticle for the 12x scope in paint and transferred it to paper. With that I would mark where my bullets were hitting either with test shots but mainly confirmed kill shots. I would also use note cards along side my reticle notes to keep track of ranges to certain points on the map from my favorite sniping spots based on the map and which side I spawned on. This gave me a huge advantage, especially since I was playing on Xbox 360 and certain targets passed about 900 - 1000 meters would disappear due to graphic limitations. After a couple weeks of using this tactic, I was getting over 1100 meter kills all of the time. My record so far is 1180 but that is from the 360 so since I just got a new PC and have BF4 on a better platform I will definitely be shooting for at least 1200+.
Either way I really enjoyed the video and I appreciate you giving range estimations on the 40x scope, which is what I really needed. I know this video was made a few years ago but keep up the good work dude. Maybe I'll see you on the other end of my SRR-61 one of these days. ;)

PICK_SIX I want to thank you for this excellent video. The advice at 11:20 sounds basic as hell but this was actually something I was doing wrong!!! I was actually trying to align a imaginary center of the reticule on the target but realistically if the vertical parts aren't on target first then it's game over to begin with. Thinking about vertical alignment first just worked much better for me. Great advice. Great video. My accuracy has gone up a ton.

Altai Range seems to have (and it set up to have) a ton of snipers per match. Especially if you look up sniping specific servers.

I am seeing this video 2 years after you produced it. I started out using the SRR-61 until they nerfed the distance on it. Now I use the M98B exclusively. Love sniping. and now that I am getting better, I love it even more. Oh, I forgot to add - I was nervous about using a suppressor on my sniper rifle. But, I got tired of people always knowing where I was shooting from. Today, I put the suppressor designed for the M98B on, and when I was doping my scope, was amazed to see that it adjusts for the suppressor. For example: Say I am setting my scope for 100m, I noticed that when I dope it, it is set for 75m. Therefore, now I trust my scope. I no longer compensate for the suppressor. If it is set for 200m, I know the bullet will hit the 200m mark. Thought you would like to know that. Try it some time. Sure stop you from being spotted now.

Another great video I don't snipe very often but I have unlocked all but the fy rifle only time I pull them out is when I get picked off by another sniper then it's game on till I get him back lol but I do think there is a place for long range snipers and find them very useful exspesially if you got one in your squad covering you when your trying to move up on objectives
Very useful tips. I'm a medium to long range sniper usually. Extreme isn't my forte, but I think I may give it a go with the recent unlock of the GOLMagnum, just waiting on the 40x scope to have a go!

I am not gunna lie, I came straight out of COD BO3 and didn't know that Battlefield 4 was a strategic game. At first I was just running out of my team on my own like COD style (With a sniper quick scoping) now that I know I will play the strategic style.
these videos have been a great help in my sniping abilities, my longest so far has been 1,430 meters with the CS-LR4 with 40x scope and variable range finder, i'm gonna have to try the SRR-61 to see what it can do ..but i'm still going for longer, thanks again for the videos.

+PICK_SIX Is the SR-661 still your choice for long range sniping? A friend of mine said it got nerfed in the past.
I haven't played BF4 for a bit now, and haven't sniped at longer ranges in even longer, but a quick trip to Symthic tells me that the SRR would still have one of the better velocities and the least bullet drop.
Honestly, most of the rifles in the game have such little overall variability that you can succeed with any rifle. Just aim slightly higher with any non-SRR weapon.

Thanks for the advice it's really help, i'm now hitting the shots after watching vid.
I got my Straight Pull Bold, 40x Scope, and Range Finder within 2 hours on TDM using the 4x Scope followed by the 3.4x Scope when it unlocked. I was able to hit people at all ranges with the 3.4x Scope with no problem and i loved the reticule it had. Out of all the snipers i've used in TDM i was 5x better with the SRR-61 i was averaging 14 kills a round where as with the M40A5 i was barely averaging 8 kills a round. The SRR-61's fast muzzle velocity, semi large magazine, and semi fast reload speed made all the difference.
My preferred loadout is M98B with 40x scope, either bipod or straight pull, 14x variable zoom, and no muzzle attachmend. For gadget i only need the PLD.
I pick my spot and range different areas on the map with the PLD so i don't need the range finder attachment. I just remember the ranges and adjust on the fly. I'll use the 14x zoom to find targets, zero to what I ranged with the PLD, then switch to 40x and take the shot. If i can't find any targets just looking, i'll use the PLD. The reason use the M98B over the SR-61 is that I can usually pick up some hits on moving targets under 400 meters. The high bullet velocity really helps. I have enough practice at ranges over 500 meters to make this a really versatile loadout for designated sniping. (unlike most, i can use this to actually take out some infantry on the objectives, not just for getting into a sniper battle with other guys doing the same thing.
