You need a white hair bucktail jig with just a hint of mylar flash usually the best to throw on the beach. Sometimes you gotta go small too like crappie jig size. Slam shady is a great beach color too. Also if they're following but not committing change up your retrieve, start with same speed but single twitch then slow it down a hair. The color might be right but your retrieve is wrong, the fish will always tell you.
I was at blind pass today and could see some snook right off the beach. Was using bait fish and they weren't interested at all. Beach Bum gotta come back next year when the water is warmer! Snook bite is crazy here in the Summer.
Hey Bum. Love your vids. I'm David and I live here in Gulf Shores. If I could make a suggestion....maybe you could mention if you're fishing on the outgoing or incoming tide and how temps and the moon affects the bite. When are the best conditions and such? I grew up along the Mississippi River and have only been down here for about a year. You do a great job of explaining tackle and bait; but, you know that environmental conditions have as much if not more influence on the bite. Just trying to learn a new environment and tactics. Looking to you for that Info. Thanks and keep up the good work.
You could have caught the snook a hour ago bum, you kept talking yourself out of switching back to the paddle tail. Just think how many were left untaught lol…love your videos man, thanks!!!
Hey, Bum. Coming to Fla in late January to a place on one of the Gulf canals. Fishing off the dock there and maybe some surf casting. What one reel will cover both?
David hearell, i would recommend a 4000 side reel especially if wanting to catch some jacks and monster snook. I would use a penn slammer or spin fisher
I never catch fish like that on the surf of Galveston though some people have luck. We don’t get or see any fish standing in the sand have to go chest deep to about 3rd sandbar
The grass is not always greener on the other side of the hill I guess BB. We in Tx think that in Florida all you need to do is cast a bait and they all jump out the water. Ive only ever fished down in the Keys and it was pretty similar to that to be fair. I do wish we had more snook. I only catch a few thru the year. And all on lures. Hope you get some more.
Nah Florida definitely got it easier than us! There’s no debating that! Like i said in a comment of my own. People will look at you stupid if you’re trying to fish the beach off the first sandbar in Galveston
@@Dirtydom I fish the beach mainly in Corpus Christi. And fish whichever sandbar or gully looks best. Its not my fave way to fish but I do enjoy it. Had some nice big whiting and pomps. Last week had some reds upto 43" and nice jacks on cut ladyfish. But so many small shark.
Hey, Bummy...Just being on the beach at sunrise, fishin' with you is relaxing and exciting , all at once. Your chest-cam is delivering excellent clarity and is very stable (or is that you being Mr. Steadycam !!!) Except for the snook opportunities, I bet you're missing home about now.... good trip,...you guys have a safe return...
Here in southwest Florida Tampa Bay Area …. Out of the 3 big game in shore species being speckled trout , red fish , and snook . Snook are my favorite . Been tough to catch as it gets colder . Just caught my PB Red fish last night . Bull Red 30+ in stud . They were schooled up at my honey hole . I wish I could post the picture here in the comments like on Facebook comment threads
Hi I've just seen this vid . Very informative , however would it be possible to fish as if you have just visited for a holiday. Where to purchase rod reel tackle etc. And where to get a licence. You know the type of thing. Then how to find a beach to fish what to fish with and how to fish it. I personally would find that ad a video very helpful. Especially if you could do different locations. Oh by the way I'm english and would like to understand so no slang please . Thanks for taking time to read this . Good luck in the future I wish you every success.
Literally the only time to use spoons on a swivel is the catch bait. Hence all the bait you’re catching . Like in every video. I don’t think I’ve seen you catch a real fish because you show up with a spoon on a tarpon rod. That rig on the beech would catch nothing but ladies is June, much less December. Tie a 2 1/2 foot leader straight to 10lb braid on a 7” mid action rod. Get some plastics and suspending hard baits and hit the mangroves. Snook are in the mud trying to stay warm. They aren’t stripers. No joke that’s the rig I use when I was seven. Because my mom went to the tackle shop and asked the cashier to show me how to fish.
I'm a subscriber and I really do enjoy your show. I had occasion to look at some of your older shows. Son, you're losing your southern accent. You must have way too many Yankee customers. It's not completely gone. There is hope yet.
So I am looking at the stats here guys and for over 100000 subscribers a few 8549 views with only 945 of us liking this video? a bit sad you guys can't support a channel you watch so much.
Great video👍👍 Liked the simple fishing just walking the beach casting a lure and whatever bites is good.

So impressed! You sir, are at one with nature
I love it when its all glass its only glass at low tide at the butt crack of dawn here in NC

Good to see you finally catch a beach snook on a lure gotta love it.

You guys are really pumping em out, good job buddy. I've seen Ron's and Brant's, now just looking for Brads next one.
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
In Brazil we fish for snook with artificial shrimp, you can try it 😉
Come on back to Wetumpka and let’s go to Jordan Dam. Stripers, Hybrids, and Spots hitting hard right now.
That sounds pretty dang tempting!
Nice beach snook bigger than my pb witch is 0 😂😆😂😆😂😆😂
Love the Salt Strong "slam shady" advertisement thrown in there
What a great way to spend an afternoon! Cheers!
Nice job on the Snook. My favorite fish to go for when I’m in Florida. And a great eating fish when in season.
Grassflats and mangrove shorelines are where they’re at. Monsters right now.
Dude these vids are fire
Thanks man
fun! A lot of times the snook will literally just turn on right when the tide changes. all about timing,.
Ah...fishing till dark! Love it.
Good job bro my father always used to tell me use big bait to catch big fish it will take little longer but it will be worth it ❤️🙏🏻
Slam shady strikes again!

@@BamaBeachBum when you do please let me know! I know a couple spots for bull reds
Looking good Matt. So cool to see that 100k
You need to come to the east coast and fish Sebastian inlet during the mullet run. You'll catch yourself a 40" snook and 40" redfish in the same day.

Yeah fishing is pretty similar in most areas. You get those insane days, but most days you’ve got to work for it.
Nah Florida definitely got it easier than us! There’s no debating that! Like i said in a comment of my own. People will look at you stupid if you’re trying to fish the beach off the first sandbar in Galveston
Just because you can see the fish, doesn’t mean it’s always easy. Those are typically the hardest to catch. Pros and cons.

So cool your vidéos 👍 what is the best technique to catch fish on the beach ?
Surf casting or spining
Just depends on where, conditions, and target.

Thanks, finally starting to get better now.
Hey Bummy, what was the small rod you went to?
Great fishing video hopefully next time you go down there the fish will bite better
Bro your feet must be made of steal 😂
Let's Go Slim Shaddy!😏
Too bad the fish didn't cooperate this trip...Enjoyed the South Fla videos regardless of how many snook you caught...keep em coming BamaBB!
Looks like an awesome trip!

Why not use a small Lady Fish for Snook bait?
Does anyone know what rod he was using when he switched to the paddle tail. Looks like a Penn Battalion Inshore, but curious on the specs ... Thanks!!
That was a little Guy . Snook
See Ya Dude 🤗
Let’s Go !!! 🐊🐊🐊
Hey Beach Bum when was the last time you did a sheep head catch and cook
Been a minute. My least favorite fish to target.
@@BamaBeachBum ok as always great video
Wow...the best👍👍👍💪💪

Man I just was in sanibel island Oct 9 thru 16 best fishing of my life man I would have loved to bump in to the click baiterz
I'm detecting some low energy.🤔
Get some rest Bama.😏
I had a cold this whole trip. This was a rough day. I had to edit out all my coughing between sentences.
Still not getting Notifications when you post. Come on YT!
Thanks for checking in still!
What size hook and weight jig were you using??
The jig was a 1/4oz
You need bigger lures in the winter, fish want to work less in cold water
hey mat where can i get one of the bummie? surf rods
We don’t currently have any left in stock. Should have more this spring.
So glad you caught that snook. It sure did look nice on the beach. Keep'em coming.
Wish you guys had better luck but it’s like that sometimes. Good video
This is real fishing. Especially when fishing a new area, take what you can get.
Where is this?
"Don’t listen to what they say. Go see."
Ru staying at Castaways?
No
