    I may or may not have gotten really excited to be finished, and forgotten to put in a couple pieces of baseboard 😉 Just ignore that..
    Also, to address a few of the common comments:
    1. The electrical box above the vanity is actually in the attic space, and fully accessible.
    2. The shower door is reversible, but I made it so that I can reach in to turn on the shower without getting sprayed in the face. it also has a clear piece of weather stripping on it to stop water from coming out where the door meets the fixed panel.
    3. It's ok if you don't like the paint colors or tile we chose, it's not your bathroom 🙂

      I Like To Make Stuff you should place a protective coating on your shower glass door, I hear that even the durable glass can crack at any time. The protective coating helps so that if it ever shatters the glass won’t go everywhere. (I think it’s called safety film)

    • @sashalag4555
      @sashalag4555 5 років тому +5

      3. I find your bathroom gorgeous! However, I find unfortunately not attractive how you choose to place your tiles at the bottoms of the walls...
      I know it's hard to match the different heights inside and outside shower space in you bathroom... But as everybody can see at @24:20... The last round of tiles on top of the shower has roughly the same height of the first round of tiles at the bottom of walls outside the shower space... To me, it would be vastly better to switch that round of tile from the top of the shower to the bottom. Outside the shower your tile would end up a little bit higher, this way.. You may still have to cut the bottom round of tiles outside shower space, but half tile height looks way better to me than less than 1/4 tile height...

      @JasGawera 5 років тому +9

      @@sashalag4555 I noticed this too, much respect for tackling this project, but it does stand out to me. Also, what's with the different tile size where the shower door fits?
      I had a bathroom tiled recently by a pro tiler, it was very interesting how he spent a long time laying out tiles so that there were no or very few skinny strips. Each wall was centered left to right, or centered around a window etc. Impressive job.
      Once again, great job, just pointing out the bits that I noticed :)

    Bob - I'm sure it's a huge weight off of your back to have that bathroom finally done. thank you for the countless tips, tricks, install hints and gotchas that you pointed out over the course of the two videos. My favorite features are the shelf in the shower with the floor penny rounds on the "wall", the transition steps used as shelves, and the difference between the hex tile and the penny rounds in the shower. amazing job!

    One thing that stands out for me is how much wiring there is - especially seeing a socket above the sinks. In the UK, you can't even have a light-switch in your bathroom (unless is a pull-chord one hanging from the ceiling) and the only socket allowed is one for an electric shaver.
    The other thing that stands out is how good the whole thing looked and how well you put it together. Love your work, man

    I think this is my favorite video you've ever done. Partly cause we are in the process of redoing our bathroom but also because there's so much great info all packed into one video.
    Also, we've always been a Home Depot family but we are definitely moving to Lowes. First and foremost, I love to see them supporting your videos. Second, I really like the look of their products.
    So, thanks again Bob for another great video. Oh, and I wanted to let you know, my hubby LOVES your hoody I bought him for Christmas. I think what he liked most was the quality of the material. I don't know where you get these made, but he said the material feels great..

    Is that blue paint color on the vanity called Painter's Tape Blue?

    • @c-nads
      @c-nads 5 років тому +41

      I was thinking the same thing (I even thought it was covered in tape for a second). It's a bit too bright to go with everything else that's in the room. I would have gone with like a charcoal color that goes with the black fittings or (if it had to be blue) a much less saturated, darker blue, almost like a cool gray.

    • @scrivenq2762
      @scrivenq2762 5 років тому +1

      I literally thought it was just a huge thing of stick on plastic sheet to keep the vanity safe when he was installing it. Looks exactly the same color as the painters tape he has on the floor while installing it. That being said, there is nothing wrong with the color. I think it goes well with the bathroom once its all finished. Plus its just the vanity not something more permanent like the tile, so if they ever sell, its easy for the next person to cover up if they dont like it.

    More tips here!
    If you’re tiling onto a wooden surface dampen the surface with a moist sponge before applying the adhesive, otherwise the adhesive can dry out too quickly and not bond properly.
    When mixing your adhesive, you want it to be able to hold a decent peak. Not wet enough will make it hard to apply, but too wet and it will be weak.

    When working construction over the summer I used the Schluter products on a couple of shower remodels and found that a standard hand saw for cutting wood worked well for cutting the foam boards and step. Just figured I'd share this to help out anyone who might want to use this product :) Great remodeling work, Bob!!

    Fantastic job, I love the white colouring, the bathtub, and all the other little details. Even though it is alot of work, learning how to do stuff yourself is a great experience. I love this channel.

    Make Stuff, your page is such an inspiration! I used to post a lot of how to videos on my page before I went deaf. Because of creators like you i recently decided to start uploading content again even though my audio may not be up to par like it used to be. Just like you I love to teach people new things! Thank you!
