The reason I want to do that is so that I can pass something to my kids and my kids kids and hence forth for generations, a guide for my family long after I’m gone, to show a piece of me that may help them in the journey of life.

Writing a book is certainly one way to share ideas, but it is not the only way. Another way is to make a UA-cam video. And the UA-cam video doesn't have to be a documentary or fact-based video. It doesn't have to be about the news or current events or politics. It's doesn't have to be about lifestyles, travels, foods, whatever. It can just be a place where you publish your stories in a visual format.

Yeah I do agree with this but I also believe that you should be enjoying what you're doing as well and not necessarily all the time but it's definitely true that you should write something on your own terms and when you write don't worry about grammar or punctuation or second-guessing every sentence just let those things go and if you could write without an outline it's a really powerful way of helping you become a stronger writer outlines are great and for most writers I know they use them but try not using it once and having everything just come off the top of your head in a continual thought and I guarantee you you will notice improvements in certain parts of your writing
