Keep up the great videos bill, not too much talking or too much messing around, perfect balance. Very entertaining and educational, I've sat and watched video after video and enjoyed everyone of them. I'll keep an eye out for more new videos from ya
Very interesting lock. I really enjoy watching what lock makers come up with to counter the lengths that people will goto to break into things. Nice job!
How right you are. I think as long as locks are mechanical, there will be vulnerabilities. Then again, have you seen some of the digital ones? Enough said, I think! I am sure I am not the only one to declare that we just cannot wait for your appropriately named "naughty bucket". Heck, we are salivating. Thanks again!
I just spent 75.00 at Sparrows and ordered a standard window lock with a couple top of the keyway wrenches and their repining kit. I can hardly wait for their arrival. Maybe I can become as good as you using these learning tools.
Thanks for making the video. It's the first lock video I've watched on youtube. For future reference. If it's been made in the UK it'll be metric so that 5/32" bolt is actually 4mm but they're close enough to make no difference. And yes, engineers in the UK use metric.
Well, if it was that easy to get the shackle removed from the body, wouldn't it be just as easy to get the lock opened as a Master #3? Or can you only do it when the lock's open/picked?
Very nice padlock bill! Would love to do a review of one some day. I think the Mul T Lock is a good choice to go for. I have never seen the Mul T Lock with 7 pins, nice!
I finally got the German corona lock picked my problem was the keyway my picks wouldn't fit in it but when I did pick it that spring loaded pin stumped me till I watched your video
thats a really nice padlock, seems theft in the high seas from the crew was a big problem for shipping containers. the only way to brute force the lock would be from the bottom with power tools or manually on a very long voyage.
wipes drool off keyboard What a beautiful lock and an amazing pick. That bottom warding is a real PITA from the looks of it. Now that the GEGE is out make sure you get people to sign a waiver stating you are not responsible for their sanity if you send it to them :P
seeing the rotating body gives an idea... what if the inner cylinder with the pins was made of 2 or 3 independent cylinders? what if you cut the core cylinder in 2 and put a spacer to compensate for the thickness of the blade used to cut it? That way you can't apply any torque to the back portion of a lock... very cheap... but how effective? You would end up picking the front one and rotating the front... or not even that much..?.
Tomas Sab ah, but then, you would really be picking 2 seperate locks with 3 pins each, or 3 with 2, It might actually make getting into the lock easier, as there would be less binding pins for each section.
+Powered By Redstone What he is saying is how are you ever going to put a tension wrench into the second half of the lock that is mounted deep in behind the 1st one. When you tensioned the outer face there would be no tension to allow you to set the inner pins.
@Navir202 @Power By Redstone - good points there. If you'd keep cutting the core into smaller segments you would end up with 6 segments, one pin each. To pick this type of lock you would need to apply tension on each section individually (similar to a rotating disc lock?). Rather true that picking 2 cylinders of 3 pins can be easier than 1 cylinder with 6 pins, all it takes is a twisted tip on a tension wrench. Should get more tricky as the number of pinned segments increases, but as that requires to reduce the number of pins per section, each section becomes easier to pick individually. Probably one could even pop them all in a row, by keeping the popped ones under tension while working on the further ones... bad idea... very bad.
Tomas Sab I believe you're still missing the point. How're ya gonna keep multiple tension wrenches in the keyway under tension simultaneously like you said? If you make a custom wrench that has the depth to reach the back half that's gonna be another thing in the way of the pick. Furthermore as I think of what you said, OK it's two 3-pin locks, so you make it such that if either part is turned before the other a bar drops in and jams the second from being able to move.
SPP = Single Pin Pick. Meaning each pin in individually manipulated with a pick of some kind. Asking questions is how you learn new stuff, so no forgiveness necessary - ask any time. b
I'm pretty observant that way, it pisses my friends off when I spot things when they don't too, it's an annoying habit (for my friends) I might have to shake off. It was a great video though.
Kit Bear He is in his work shed, which I believe it is another building that is detached from the house. Probably one of those storage sheds you can buy to set up in your back yard. Of course in a shed in the back yards, bugs would be a common thing.
if the spool type pins were made more like a cone, point side facing the other pins they push against, would that make the lock harder to pic, or maybe even impossible to pic. If you are understanding my meaning here it would be impossible to set the pins with out setting all of them at exactly the same time
A similar functionality is achieved with T-pins. But no, it's not that simple. If you want to stick with the de-facto standard pin tumbler lock, your options include serrations, threads and ultimately the bar with holes that provides a false shearline. That's the best one.
I think it would be suitable if you made a half yourself from any 30/30 Euro cylinder (by breaking it half and smoothing the middle bridge part with a file). It should hold together if you leave the C-cli on. Though I'm not entirely sure about possible problems with the cam & acutuating mechanism.
They make epoxy resins designed to bond to steel that you can purchase from MSC and Grainger among other commercial suppliers. They are strong enough to glue a pipe cap on a piece of 2" pipe so well that a pipe wrench can't break it off...
That's a very Cool Lock Bill and it's from England one of the best lock makers in the world saying that I am biased because I'm am from the UK. :D LOL Great Video Bill keep them coming. :D N.
You probably also believe your mains plugs are the best. They are a kludge of afterthoughts that the German plug has solved all in a neater way. And I'm not a German!
Thanks for the reply BB. I am still working on the master I mentioned.. frustration by the buucketfulls. Its gonna be a while before I am ready for a rotolock! LoL!! When you pick a pin.. How much pressure are you applying to the pin with the pick? I mean are you "forcing" it" ? your picks look "bent" like mine are. and...... I see that you place your tension wrench on the pin side. is there a reason that you do this? Cheers! R.
I noticed you didn't put this up for a give away, there price is over 200.00 US, Dollars used. I have found some new ones for around or close to 600.00 US Dollars . you need to watch where you buy them not to spend to much. I would loved to have that lock.
that is a shame that would have been a great give away, o well I understand I would won't it back too , it is a sweet lock. thanks for the reply . take care.
Question: Would someone not be able to just take out that screw with an allan wrench and then move the lock upwards to an angle and slide out the pin keeping the shackle in while it's locked?
Cool Padlock Bill never seen one like it before! About excahnging the cores: clear that the gege was ripe for a cahge, but do you think the 7x7 is a better lock than the gege? I always found geges incredibly good (=evil in picking).
+Alexander Weinstein I'm pretty confident the lock would stay locked even if you took out the screw and pin. The ball bearings would still hold the shackle in place. Once the lock is opened though, the shackle would fall out I think.
I was also surprised to see these parts exposed. But the locking bars (or blocks, cylinders, balls, whatever) which secure the shackle on both sides are immovable (locked in place) until the main cylinder is rotated (unlocked). The pin just stops the loose (unlocked) shackle from falling off, the screw just stops the pin from falling off.
Hey bill great channel you have and Skill ofc, I was looking for an equivalent chain to go with this lock? And, have you seen this "Security Maxx" Padlock, they also make chain, unless you can recommend a brand? and I cant seem to buy a Rotalok on the internet in USA? Thank you sir for some entertainment thats not mush.
wayne winton highly reccomends the security max chain and lock. it looks like a pretty good alternative if you cant get pewag chain and dont want to spend 255$ on a mt5+ shutter lock. peerless make some pretty good hex security chain too from what ive seen. e rigging dot com sells, a scc lock, peerless chain 5ft with nylon cover in a bag for 90 + shipping. its what im going to get for my next lock up kit. i think you can get rotalocks but you have to order from the manufacturer in england and they start at like 500ish. unless you are living in nyc or detroit you can probably get by with one of the chains above with a good lock. again wayne winton is a good source for this. he offers a stanley security 24/7 lock rekeyed with the core they use in the lock that keeps the devil in hell and the chain they lock it to all for about what you can get a rotalock for. somewhere close tp that at least. there are cheaper ways to go it just depends on what you are locking up and where and what the likely threat level is.
Hi Bill, i have the same rotalok which is wearing slightly, wandering where i can get a new MT5 or other core to replace it with, any advice would be great i.e what i need to buy, lockwood type etc etc, i live in the UK
+DailyLifeNY The pin in there only prevents the shackle from falling out when the lock is open. The actual locking mechanism that keeps the lock closed consist of two ball bearings. Unscrewing the screw and taking the pin out wouldn't do anything if the lock is locked.

👍😋
First I became addicted to your videos. Now I’m picking locks. Gotta say it gets rid of a lot of stress.
Keep up the great videos bill, not too much talking or too much messing around, perfect balance. Very entertaining and educational, I've sat and watched video after video and enjoyed everyone of them. I'll keep an eye out for more new videos from ya
The Rotalock as dual use: Lock your stuff or throw it at the thief^^
Better yet, the thief has no choice but to get rid of the lock. He can't run fast with something so heavy.
I think I have a question that everyone would love an answer to! What the heck are you always printing with that 3D printer? Enlighten us!
I love how every one of your videos starts with a new beginning it's nice in a different introduction to every video
That Rotalok with the new 7pin cylinder is now fabulously-formidable!👍💯
i see a bug breakdancing in the back there 5:50
Lol, I saw it too
deez bugz
+MyUAJerk holy shit mate! how did you notice that ?!:P
Some people's attention span wanders lol
theres a bug flipping out in the background at 5:53
Very interesting lock. I really enjoy watching what lock makers come up with to counter the lengths that people will goto to break into things. Nice job!
Thank You for Your efford to show us how to be more safe. All the best my UA-cam friend. 😊

What a clever design with that floating outer shroud. That's awesome Bill.
Wow ! Bill you are amazing ! Awesome job again !!
Thank you Bill! Got the American locks for mine. Much appreciated
I just spent 75.00 at Sparrows and ordered a standard window lock with a couple top of the keyway wrenches and their repining kit. I can hardly wait for their arrival. Maybe I can become as good as you using these learning tools.
Wow! That ended up pretty wicked!
Enjoyed that as always Bill. Thank you.
That's a bad ass lock now with a multilock core
That's a beast of a padlock!
My gaaaaaad maaaaan! These videos are amazing, I cannot stop watching.
Thanks for making the video. It's the first lock video I've watched on youtube.

those assa twin combi are awesome lock

Nice lock. Keep up the good work. Enjoying your channel.
it sounds like a 3dprinter is in the backround...
+Jason Alexander It is.
Cool, I have one, which one is that?
yea I thought my 3D printer was going
Great video mate!! Very well done, love the lock!!
Very generous gr8 lock Jims a good guy thanks for the vid enjoy my viewing as always

Great picking and very good of Jimbo to send it mate :o))))
Was that a 3D printer in the background?
+Techommentary Yes.
I would buy that... Could u give links to the lock itself and the core you replaced it with?
wipes drool off keyboard

Great lock Made Better, Nicely explained Bill, I've yet to pick a mul-t-loc (keep trying though )
Beautiful lock. thanks JDJOJODA!
Where can you get one of those rotalok lock?
I've had my storage locker broken into a few times and I think that would be a great replacement!
J.L Hoffy 380$ plus a good 7 pin mul-t lock should be worth the price if you really care about your valuables
Thanks!
super nice padlock Bill
nice job on the remake
Awesome Job Man !

cool lock, always looking for one!
I picked my fist 5 pin lock today on the front door of my apartment
ƃɹǝquǝʇʇnɹ ɯıɐɹɥdǝ dont pick a lock that you use. Especially when you are learning. Incase you break it. Just buy one from the internet to practise on
😱 the roach he just wiped it away 😨
Pickersgil Kay make this lock now.

Good eye mate.

It's been a couple years, but you should pick the new and improved version if you still have it.

I wish I'd had that on my locker in high school !
Lockers require thin shackles.
a soda can lock that is awesome I will have to try to find one.
nice job man!
Greetings from Mexico city!
great video Bill
Can't you just remove the shackle with the allen wrench like you did or does it have to be unlocked?

bosnianbill what if you take the set screw that holds the shackle on out while it's locked
Nice lock. I bet it would be hell to lose that key.
Very strong

Hi Bill, i have the same rotalok which is wearing slightly, wandering where i can get a new MT5 or other core to replace it with, any advice would be great i.e what i need to buy, lockwood type etc etc, i live in the UK
lol put that thing on a end of a bike chain and you got a flail
Can you open the lock with the electric pick gun?
That grundmen key over there my company builds and cuts the keys and locks !!
Really cool lock. Too bad they're so hard to find.
Are you talking about that two part epoxy that comes in a plastic injector?
at 7:41 i was so tempted to say: That's what she said.
You need a pair of snap ring pliers.
so all that holds the lock together its an allan head screw?
looks like torx
still a bit unsettling.
+DailyLifeNY well I presume it's designed so that you can only remove that pin when it's been unlocked, so it shouldn't be a security flaw.
+DailyLifeNY The pin in there only prevents the shackle from falling out when the lock is open. The actual locking mechanism that keeps the lock closed consist of two ball bearings. Unscrewing the screw and taking the pin out wouldn't do anything if the lock is locked.
18 minutes having to sand down a pick, and having seen the key. I say this lock provides adequate security for the job at hand.
Is that a 3d printer I hear going in the background?
I'm trying not to take it out of the camera but it's so big! That's what she said when we made our movie...
So Where do I get this kind of Lock nowadays?
EDIT: couldn't find any on Ebay either...
Can I ask was this masterkeyed ? Several shear lines ?
Do you have a lock shop somewhere? If so is love to take a look at it when I have time xD Great video as always man
Ahhhh. Thanks glad you could get back
sounds like you have a 3d printer running in the background??

Tomas Icks I heard he was the person that all the "kill bill" movies were modeled after...
His name is Bill Johnson. See if that gets you anywhere with the Google. There is stuff out there, even stuff with his face in it, but you have to be good with the searching to find it.
I know he works for a country's department of defense.
That will be one mean lock
Judging by how nice that lock looks, if I were a thief and I were gonna steal something, I'd probably just steal the lock itself!
I have a question: Is the shackle hardened steel, or the new boron alloy? As I can't tell, as it looks "Semi-shiny".
The point is you wouldn't be able to pick it.
Ta Baron
I know that, but not every thief picks locks, they sometimes try to cut the shackle or destroy the hole or whatever it's locked around.
forgive the noob questions but what does SPP'ed mean? thanks!
whats the half cylinder that you used in this lock bill?
bosnianbill Seems like a good way to design a lock. If I wanted to buy a whole lot of high security locks, that is the type I would want. Seems completely customizable. Are the combinations of security features high or almost endless?
would you ever think of selling locks that you u do stuff like this too if so how much would you ucharge
How does one go about buying a rotalok like this one?
why not create a lock with and X type hook?
that why they made hydraulic clamps 4. smart man they will turn even weld pipe.
