    Those safety cans are the opposite of safe for many reasons.

    I have on of the rather expensive VP Racing SureCans. They come in 2.2 gallons and 5 gallons sizes. I have a 2.2 gallon and it has been great. Perfect seal. Easy to pour and no leaks for 4 years now :)

    Don't waste your money on No-Spill brand products. Their can blew out at the seam, and they won't warranty it.

    How often do u need to open up the lid so that the pressure doesn’t explode?? I’m confused

    • @vanontom
      @vanontom Рік тому +1

      It should never explode or burst the container (assuming the container is properly manufactured and not seriously damaged). The plastic material of the container is designed to withstand the pressure. If worried, go ahead and manually open to vent, just be sure to use a fuel stabilizer (immediately after initial filling) to help with the oxidation and loss of shelf life, and the gas should burn fine for 6-12 months. You can also add a super-duper-illegal little vent with cap that will help with this, and pouring as well.

    I was hoping for you to give an idea of how to re-expand the tank once folded in. One of mine popped in, and won't pop out, even when full of gas.

    So if I have a plastic gas can that's 95% full, but noticeably swollen, and I want to use it to fill my car, it's best (and safe) to just tip the can up so the fume/air-space transfers to the physical bottom of the can (which becomes the "top" as it goes skyward), and just fill my car up with it?
    And since it's still under pressure, do those fumes in the "back" of the can forcefully squirt the gasoline out, similar to how the air behind the cream in a whipped cream can shoots it out at a high rate of speed?
    And I guess another question would be, if I do it this way and empty the gas can into my car in one shot, do those light-ends really end up in my car's gas tank, or will they stay floating around in the empty gas can? Not really important, but I was just wondering.
    Basically, I'm MOST nervous/scared that this thing is going to explode/rupture in my hands if I try to use it, but I also want to keep the efficacy of the gasoline.
    That said, if I were to make sure I'm in a safe area, put a plastic bag over the spout and vent out the pressure, will that one time of doing so ruin the gasoline, or is that just after many times of doing that?
    Sorry to bombard you with questions, it's just that I don't want to end up engulfed in a fire ball, haha!
    Thanks for the video!

      For what it's worth, I left the gas cans outside and the temperature dropped that night, and even though they still appeared swollen the next day, I just poured them into the car without trying to vent them first, and nothing bad happened. I didn't even hear a whoosh of air or anything.

    • @wittylens909
      @wittylens909 Рік тому +1

      Thanks or the follow up comment. I’m in the exact same situation right now. I’ll leave it overnight for temperature to drop, then fill my tank.

    • @MattBurosh
      @MattBurosh Рік тому

      @@wittylens909 Yup, I can almost guarantee you'll be fine. My gas cans haven't been filled back up since I empties them into my car's gas tank on that day, and yet they still appear somewhat "swollen," even empty.
      So basically what I'm saying is that there may not even be that much pressure built up in your gas can right now--it could just be that it stretched at some point recently and now that's its new shape, even after the pressure released.

      I undo the nozzle abit to let excess out as in Australia we don’t have those style of nozzles that you get in the states but I just take the pressure out and vent it because max I keep fuel in a jerry can would be for afew weeks as I’m using every week for line trimmer, chainsaws mowers but if I’m not using it I’ll just keep it tight

      Same reason you poke a hole in a beer can to chug it. Replaces air behind it. When the fluid goes the same amount of air is left but it now has to occupy the same (now bigger void) space. This creates a suction.
