It's about an inch. It doesn't bother me at all, the bottom only about a 1/4" gives a good spot to rest your hand. It really matches the look of the truck, the dash is curved so it needs to be recessed in the middle.
Is there any way to get the tire pressure data supported on the Tacoma with the external sensor add on? Also the gas level and mileage indications are there additional sensors we could install? Haven’t had much luck getting a response done AU Car
You can use external sensors and a usb dongle to get the TPMS sensors to read. I had this before and it works ok. You download an app and it connects to the dongle and sensors. There is no way to get the gas level and mileage on the radio. On the tacoma the gas and mileage are not reported to the computer so no way to get it. Some cars you can read it over canbus but the Tacoma is very limited on canbus. Also the radio is not connected to the trucks canbus system anyway. You could use a OBDII dongle and connect that to the radio using an app like torque. This will give you OBDII data, most sensors show up. You can also use it for TPMS the Tacoma is read through the K line protocol so I think you can only do either or, K line or OBDII. You would need to switch between the two. I use an OBDlink MX+ to connect to mine, you can reset the check engine light and run diagnostics from the radio.
So ,mine had n still have issues with the program, the ac didn't work, then they sent me an updated version, but now the heater starts heating at the 78 degrees setting and barely heats and starts cooling at the 68 degrees setting.
I installed this same screen but for a 2012 ford f150, but the climate controls fail, the compressor turns on and off all the time, therefore it cannot cool down, will you have an answer to this?
Thx for making the investment and sharing with the planet. I am on my 2nd Joying and considering jumping to this. I have a few questions: 1 - Does the climate control retain the last used settings on restart? 2 - How well does Netflix work? For Joying they had to send a specific apk - I couldn’t use the one in the US App Store. 3 - Can you change the climate values to Fahrenheit? Lastly, what do you think is the biggest flaw? Thank for answering if you find the time to do so! (They should give you a fresh promo code and early access to any future updates/insight :¬)
Yes, the climate control stays on the last setting you put it on. I haven't tried Netflix but I do use UA-cam all the time and it works perfect. yes you can change the climate controls to Fahrenheit, mine are in F and not C. So far this is a big improvement over the last unit. I would say the biggest flaw would be not having more video inputs like the last unit for front and side cameras. Also the ability to program the steering wheel controls yourself. Right now they are preset, they are programed like the stock radio but I like to make some custom changes like my other android radios.
No, all the apps that are on the radio work without payment. You can download paid apps if you want, the only one I have is the OBDlink add on apps for diagnostics.
Hello Jon I just bought this unit installed using provided harnesses and powered up but i GET NO AUDIO OUT OF MY SPEAKERS . i HAVE 2012 TACOMA WITH ENTUNE PREMIUM JBL AUDIO FROM FACTORY ? pLEASE HELP DID i MISS SOMETHING ?
Is there a way to run a cable for an original Ipod to this unit? How about a USB C as well? I know it has wireless Android auto but I would like to run it wired. Thank you!
no usb C currently, but you can connect a usb a. So Ann older iPod should connect fine. It comes with 2 usb extension cords that I leave in the glove box. You should be able to use these with android auto as well.
Yeah, I am out in Kapolei. I have a thread on Tacomaworld.com where we talk about the unit. www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tesla-style-head-unit.737247/ Updates and issues are all posted there.
I've got a different android head unit that connects via bluetooth but doesn't have a dedicated bluetooth connection screen like there is for wifi at 7:06 of this video, can you confirm this headunit has a similar page for connection of bluetooth devices?
This radio uses the android bluetooth setting page to connect to a bluetooth device. This has several apps (bluetooth music, phone) when you click on the connection icon in the apps it takes you straight to the android bluetooth connection settings.
not sure on the model number but this is the link aucarauto.com/product/pre-order-aucar-tesla-android-11-12-1-car-radio-gps-navigation-for-toyota-tacoma-2005-2015-car-multimedia-stereo-player-car-video/
It can work without an internet connection but you will only have radio, gps, and on board music/videos. You can connect it to the internet in several different ways to get all the features. 1. You can use Wi-Fi. Ether a hot spot from your phone or other device. 2. You can get a SIM card for it and give it cellular service. 3. You can use CarPlay/android auto to get music and maps. Note: when using CarPlay the internet is not shared with other apps only CarPlay. If you give it internet. It can use sirius xm radio through the internet along with other things.
thanks for going through each setting option!
Thanks for testing out this unit and making this video. I’ve been holding out for a review before deciding to buy one myself. Would you recommend it?
Definitely, the gen2 has been flawless.
Does the gap from plastic to screen bother you? Like how deep in the screen is. Looks like a good inch+ in the middle

AC wouldnt turn off because you were in LO temp mode....change it to a degree setting and then you will be able to toggle the AC on and off
I did not know that, I'll give it a try. In Hawaii we always have the AC on anyway.
I tried and you are correct. Ac button does work.
@@jonm8975 ok good to know! I was curious why 1 of only 8 buttons would be completely worthless 🙂

Ok sounds good is there any kind of tutorial on how to do it anywhere?
Is there an software update for the original stereo? The new UI looks nice compared to the old version.
Last I heard they are working on an update. Not sure when it will be out.

Hi Jon, do you know where I can find update if I want to install on a usb drive and update my old unit
I post all the updates I get from Aucar on the tacoma world forum.

Where did you find the code for your vehicle to set 'car model/ac' in your settings/system?
I got the code from the manufacturer.
How is the GPS loading and navigate?

hello this screen support hdmi? and if can be use with apple ?👍🏼
It does not have HDMI input or output. It does support wireless apple CarPlay.
