I've got a pair of Athearn Genesis FP45s in the BNSF "Legendary Liveries" scheme and I'm really wanting to consist these two together, this video was a big help, thanks for sharing!
I know your demonstrating how to consist the locomotives by setting up the CV's in the decoder, but I found a way which might be useful. I use NCE powercab, the same as in your demonstration. It is easy to use the Consist button and enter the engine numbers to set up your consist. Then using the recall button the NCE handset will add "Con" to the front of any engines in the recall menu that are now part of the consist, but you can still use the horn, lights and bell as if the locomotive wasn't part of the consist. Just a tip..............and I know your demonstrating the real intricacies of setting up the Tsunami2, which is brilliant by the way, I have 6 fitted so far, just two left to do!
Thankyou for your reply George, I have noticed the NCE system sometimes doesn't always clear a consist properly as you described above. So I will look into your set up in more depth. Thank you again for your reply.
No. At that point, since you are changing loco parameters, you would have to address the locos and change the CVs for volumes individually. But, remember the alternate volume mixer feature we have where the volumes can be adjusted as you desire, but are defaulted to about ½ volume. If you enable this on a F# command on all locos, then add it to the consist functions, then you can enable the alternate mixer on all locos with a single F# command. But you would be setting this up in advance. You can see this video here ua-cam.com/video/h_6wIzp6h_k/v-deo.html on how I used the alternate volume mixer to simulate hauling ‘dead’ locos.

I tried putting it on the programming track and set cv8 to 8 but nothing happened even after power off and back on. still says cons , any idea? thanks!
You can always rewrite the consist address in CV 19 if you have set that part in the past. All CVs are re-writable, so just overwrite a CV and then go back to the main and select that consist address. Now, if you used the DCC system to build the consist (Likely as indicated by the con:### listing.) then you may need to reset the DCC system, or find a way to remove the loco in question our of the consist. This will be a DCC system issue and you will need to refer tot he MRC User's Guide. Following the true Advanced consist info in this tutorial (And our YT Webinar 14) then the system is none the wiser since you're setting CVs and not building consists in the system. Now I'm confused. You said the consist address must be a number between 1 and 127 yet you set the consist address for the third loco at 20+128 and that is 148.
Entering a value from 1 to 127 will set the consist address from 1 to 127 for the normal direction. Entering a value from 129 to 255 will set the consist address from 1 to 127 for the inverted direction. Setting CV 19 to 0 or 128 will disable the consist address. When CV 19 is set to a non-zero value, the decoder will ignore throttle commands sent to the decoder’s primary or extended address. Hi, we are glad that you are getting into DCC! In this video we talk about default function assignments and these are the function keys that certain effects on the decoder are set to be triggered by when they leave our factory. For example when you press the F1 on any aftermarket Tsunami2 decoder the bell will play. With an advanced consist you can choose which of these fictions are active on each of the locomotives in your consist. This is what George walks you through in this video. He does not show you step-by-step how to change each CV he is changing because this method varies based on your command station. Knowing how to adjust CVs on your command station is an important skill you will need to learn. If you need more information on setting up our features like advanced consisting you can refer to our Tsunami2 Diesel User's Guide: www.soundtraxx.com/manuals.php. These videos are a big help and I'd like to add a couple notes to make this even EASIER for NCE advanced consisting: On your NCE, enable the system setting for "send function to consist". After completing this, you can permanently set all of your locomotives CV21 and 22 (functions to respond in consist mode) and forget about them. Use the NCE system to set up (and break down) your consist and operate your lead loco using it's own address (not the alias). Using this method, commands such as horn will ONLY go to the lead loco, while dynamic brakes will go to ALL locos in the consist. You won't need to change CV21 and 22 every time you change a lead loco. When you select up the rear loco, only its horn and lights will operate and "forward" will be the direction the rear loco faces. Let the system interpret the commands instead of using the "alias" and remembering that rear loco "forward" actually = alias Reverse. You will need to clear this consist when moving from home to the club, etc. because each NCE "brain" needs to know which units are in a given consist.
Hi George, nicely explained, thank you. Q: some Modellers’ say that the locomotives should be speed matched for a consist, should they? If so, what is the best way or method? Regards Gary 😊🇦🇺

Hello, i had a question about the 21 pin TSU 2, i have a scaletrains ET44AC the documentation says it is optimized for Loksound, what does that mean and will the 21 pin tsu work fine?
Hi, yes you can still use a Tsunami2 TSU-21PNEM. 'Optimized for Loksound' basically means that in this model ScaleTrains has strayed away from using the NMRA recommended practices. Therefore, by simply plugging our TSU-21PNEM decoder into the motherboard you will not be able to access all of our lighting functions as our decoders DO FOLLOW the NMRA recommended practices.
