Yes, David Phelps is a professional singer and graduated at the top of his class from Baylor University with a major in opera. they wanted him to sing opera but he wanted to do gospel. he has been singing professional now for over 30 years. One of my favorite David Phelps covers is the song UNCHAINED MELODY. It was an audio only but every time I listen to it I am so much delighted and mersmerized by the beauty of the song and David Phelps' voice. Please make a reaction of it too.... Thanks.
David does not do any song halfway!! He is awesome… anything he sings!
David rarely uses his head voice. He's still in his chest voice when you were thinking he was switching so effortlessly back and forth. He belts and sustains in his chest voice. He's phenomenal. I've seen him hit an F5 like its nothing. The high note he sustained here was D5. He regularly hits C5 and he's mid 50's now. His voice gets better with age. He's classically trained and writes alot of his own songs and lyrics. He's known for rewriting old songs where you can still recognize them but puts his own little nuances to it. His fans say he "Phelpsed" it. We're a very devoted PHAN base. You'll find us showing up when you do a reaction to him. Thank you for appreciating our David Phelps.
David Phelps takes you out of yourself then drops you down to earth once it's over. It's a roller-coaster ride. I love everything he does.

@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee Actually he has done quite a bit of stage acting and singing in his life and has tremendous vocal power without a mic, his college vocal professor begged him and argued with him to go opera/classical route but he refused. Don't confuse what does with microphone as lack of ability without one, I've seen video of him breaking sound systems and I've heard him sing inconcert without a mic and we were deeper then 4th row and heard him easily above the other 4 singers with him not inly heard but understood everything he said.

To the maker of this video (MB Reacts) :Could you please do a comparison video between David Phelps singing his cover of I have nothing vs Gabriel Henriquez also singing his cover of I have nothing ? However, instead of reacting to them separately, this time could you please combine the two performances together in one video and compare and contrast the different techniques used and styles of singing between these two singers explaining the similarities and differences in their singing styles and note choices. I think this should be really fun. Please try it out?
Comparing artists renditions of songs always leads to arguments on who is better. I am so tired of that. Of course, someone will throw in Dimash too. Each one is a gifted singer. I like to leave it at that. Let each of us choose the one we like the most to listen and not compare apples and oranges.
Just a suggestion...stop less and combine your all your great comments into less breaks so the video is not as broken up.
I commented on a video that was basically saying no one should even try to sing Whitney songs because no one can hold a candle to her. I commented that the closest I’ve heard is David Phelps with this song & posted the video. I was verbally ATTACKED by a black woman scolding me for saying anyone could hold a candle to Whitney and a WHITE MAN at that. I doubt she listened to his cover.
