I just ordered one of these arms over the weekend and I hope it's a revised version with the knob on the upper arm. I'd hate for me to strip that Allen hole if it's an older version.

I’m planning to release a video of my setup so far for them because I’m trying to keep it simple. But, once they’re ready to step up, I’ll set up multiple mics and cameras for them. :)
I'm using the standard Elgato Wave Mic Arm...Great experience there. Steady when I attached my SM7B on it...nearly 800g without any need to use the add-on weight gig. Cool stuff.
I use this for my teleprompter with a camera and motorized tilt and pan, and the LP arm just holds up. I thought I wanted the boom arm version at first, but this low profile works well. I eventually got the boom arm version for my overhead camera and microphone - that only holds 1KG (2.2 pounds) versus 2KG (4.4 pounds) of the LP. I don't have a plastic knob on the lower joint though - instead it has the flushed Allen screw. A con for the LP arm is that the end does not maintain the horizontal orientation when you operate the arm like in the boom version.
I love everything about it that I bought 3! The only thing I don't like is that if you want to raise the arm, you have to raise it much higher than you want it to go for it to sit in place. I'm not sure why they have this extra wiggle room when raising it, but it's quite cumbersome and not intuitive for my podcast guests.
I got 2 of these from BestBuy and both couldn’t hold an RE320 which is surprising considering the weight of the RE320 is half of their max rated weight. Both sagged really badly so I had to return them. So just be aware that there is a sag issue. People on Reddit have complained about it as well. I’ve tightened the tension knob as much as I could but it still just drops to my desk.

Mr. Judd....would you trust this arm to mount a U87......I have one for my Shure SM7B.......and I'm currently "on the fence" about using it for my Neumann U87ai.......lots of $$$$ difference the Elgato and the O.C. White Ultima. Your thoughts? Thank you.
Worth it just to see it holding up an SM7B. I'm thinking about upgrading to that mic and arm. Good to know it's strong enough to hold it up. Disappointed that Elgato didn't use the same style levers that it uses on the keylight mounts. Much stronger. Might have to Mcgyver it.
The upper arm kept sagging down with my SM7B despite tightening the knob as hard as I could without breaking it. I am supposed to receive a replacement soon. Hopefully it was a one-off issue, but as Curtis noted the height adjustment on this arm is more of a set it once and not touch it type of deal.
@@ZioComposite Elgato sent me an older version of the arm that is only adjustable with the Allen key. It did hold the mic fine but I ended up selling the arm eventually as the height was effectively locked and not adjustable.

I've been using the Blue Compass, which I love, but I changed my setup a lot and now have to mount it next to me, so it's not as easy to get the microphone do face me the way I want, and the arm is between me and my vertically placed mixer. But this would place the microphone exactly where I want it, and it won't be in the way of me seeing and reaching the mixer. Might just go for this one. I've also been looking for a good solution for a camera mount where I can move it around a bit and have the camera point straight down as well, but not be mounted to the desk, but have it mounted to the wall and have the camera float over the desk. This looks like it could do that as well if I make something for it to mount to on the wall. My camera and lens is usually below 1kg, so it should be light enough for this to handle it.
Great...I've been waiting for this arm to come In stock for like a month. Now that this video has been released...It's going to be at least 6 more months before I've got a shot at getting one...
Did you find that this will support the weight of heavier microphones, like the SM7B? Do the knuckles tighten enough that this arm can hold up that might without drooping?

Hi Lee, that Mount came with the RODE PSA1+. Each arm has a different diameter so you’ll want to check with Elgato to see if they have drill-through mounts. I don’t remember seeing those as an option on their site.

Always wonder why they need to use all metal for the arm material. Even the cable slot cover is metal, seriously? But plastic nob for the most important part to hold the arm in angle. Also no one seems to use counter weight design to balance a heavy microphone instead of letting the locking mechanism do all the hard work keep it not sagging. Wonder when Peak design or iFootage will do a microphone arm.
I'd be wary of Elgato's product. It looks like some of their product line has gone poorly; say their capture cards for windows being overpriced and causing a bluescreen fairly regularly. In that Elgato doesnt seem to reply to support tickets about this defect. Sure this a very different product and not a lot to screw up on compared to a capture card. Yet their commitment to customers is my concern.
It's a great arm but it has a plastic ball head and adapters...boo. The picture on their site shows brass adaptors, but that wasn't what I received, Also the magnetic channel plates pop off way too easily. But the action is fantastic in every way for all of my mics, and it is reasonably priced.

On my copy, the middle knob can be pretty tight, but I haven't had major issues loosening it. Might want to get in touch with Elgato tech support to confirm your copy is ok.

Wide shots; no mics. I guess they must be wearing lavs but I don't hear any obvious lav artifacts. The voices are natural and full. There's no rustling or wind noise. The voices sound on-axis even when they turn their heads. Thoughts?
If it were me, I'd have lavaliers hidden in their hats. No clothing rustle and follows when they turn their heads. But most importantly, usually sounds really good.
Interesting that they added a knob for the upper arm- my LP just has an allen key slot. This just needs 5 or 6 large logos to be perfect 😉

Depends on budget and mic and desk setup. But my favorite is the OC White ultima low profile.

Just be careful adjusting the lift. It can crash down and that wouldn’t be good for such an expensive microphone.

Hmm, that would depend on the pop filter's mount. The arm has some girth so many would NOT work.

Did you notice the magnets being a problem? Did they keep lifting when trying to adjust the position?
Not an issue if I left enough slack in the cable at the joint.

Yes, looks like at Amazon they boosted the price. Try Elgato directly. The extension tube is called the SHURE A26x and is linked in the description.

I’m not sure, I don’t know how the Triad Orbit head connects.
The M2-R head can be added to any stand using 5/8-inch thread. Is the plastic knob part perhaps attached this way?

Probably because of space - not a lot of room for counter-balancing in most studios.
