- I was out in the deep woods metal detecting and exploring still trying to find the old loggers workers camps from the early 1900s. It is drawn on the old top map for this area and I am really starting to question if the map is correct. I have now walked every bit of this river where it was to be located and nothing ! So I stopped off at the wagon wheel site and did some metal detecting and found a nice 200 year old metal button. I then did some more exploring down the old wagon trails and sections of the forest I had not seen until I got to the back of the old deserted farm. I figured I would swing my Fisher F19 up the cart path to the cellar hole and BAM ! a silver coin.

Silver out here ? I was on my way out from exploring the woods
An old button and a 110 year old silver make a good day!
Congratulations on the Canadian silver! King George the 5th I believe. Love the button!!! Well done. Great adventure as well!
That round disk that you found is the back end of a 12 gauge shotgun slug. The stud is actually a screw that attaches the wad to the back of the slug.
Well played, you certainly earned that coin… love those old Canadian silvers
As long as you find something its a win. Thanks for the hike Charlie. Loved the video 😊
So a button and to put a bow this episode on it a 100 year old silver. Nice way to start the week of Not Thursday
Nice one young man keep finding them fines .from raining Cornwall uk
A great reward at the end of your journey. Nice find. Thanks for sharing.
Hello from Nova Scotia. Love your digs because the land here in NS is much the same. I have a harder time finding good finds as the Eastern shore was not as populated as some harbour ports were. I do use old maps to see where old building were in the 1800's , watching you explain sites helps me when I am looking for old sites. Keep Digging.
I would fully expect to find Canadian coins in or around old logging camps. Mon dieu !
Good Morning Charlie 😊
A silver George V that’s awesome!
Nice work Charlie!!!
Gotta love that surprise silver
Awesome video and nice coin
I THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN A DRAPE BUST, STILL A GOOD FIND! HAPPY SWINGIN N DIGGIN. THANKS FOR A GREAT ADVENTURE.👍😊
Good find Charlie
Thank you Charlie for the adventure , seeing beautiful scenery and some nice finds even if there was only a few of them !
Nice adventure Charlie!
Makes sense. Riding horseback or even in wagons folks got bounced around. Stuff was bound to fall out of their pockets.
That's a really cool dime! Me being from NH with Canadian bloodline, it's perfect. Lol
The, "History Mystery" lives on!
Really nice video, Charlie! Thanks for taking us along.
If your map is to scale you can use google earth and overlay your map on google earth using roads, streams and ponds to locate. Then you will be able to get lat/long location of the structures you are looking for commonly known as a way point.
How ironic....I just found the same dime (1913 King George) about a week ago...but I live in Canada...lol.
Way to go Charlie! I always say that you just never know what is hiding in the ground....👍
Fun adventure with a great keeper
I wonder if some of those roads disappearing into swamp were winter access. Roads used to haul out wood only accessible in winter. Many cedar lots were only cut when the ground froze. Just my two cents. Thanks for the hike and taking us with you.
I believe you are correct. May even find some Corderoy roads in areas like that. The book Tall trees and tough men is a great read on the history of logging in New England…hh
Awesome hunt 👌
Round bit a lantern wick adjuster?
great adventure Charlie, i am hooked on your vids .... informational ,pleasent, nice hikes and inspirational to hunt the forgetten lands. I been finding some buttons(not as many as you) and I did find a 1782 1Reale in the woods of Jersey. keep up the great work and finds !!! GL HH Brutha
Lidar terrain mapping most always shows cellar holes. Compare to old historic maps with approximate home sites and no floundering in woods....
That first thing looks like the foot to a chair leg.
Skip to 11:54 for detecting content
No thank you ! I enjoy seeing the beautiful scenery around there ! With my disability and age I don't get to travel as much as I use to ! But thank you for the information ! Have a good day !
Canadian Loggers?....Good Job !
That Canadian was dropped in 1913!! Nice!!
I leave it to you to decide about possible land use. The area you believe has become swampy due to logging is quite interesting.
21:18 Gorgeous Boring King George V
weather , work schedule since 3rd shift guy quit and life in general plus hunting season is killing my detecting oppportunities in the old woods in pennsylvania .
What a beautiful dime! Did you figure out if that was actually a button?
❤❤❤❤❤😊
Excelente video, saludos cordiales desde chile 🙋♂️🇨🇱👏👍😊
Do you ever Overlay the 'Plat' maps over the current maps to acquire GPS coordinates for sites?
Have you used lidar imagery of this area? If you haven't or need assistance in doing so I can pull the images and send you them. These images can help find cat paths, flat areas typical of old structures or cellar holes and I've used them for finding old wells also.
A couple near Pemaquid we just find -0- signs of other than what the map says.
No road just near the water and 1800s map.
Bet it was temp and moved as they did with structures back then.
How come no census from the 1800s for todays detectorersessessess?
its a creek, a tiny creek
I wonder if a drone would help you in your scouting explorations.
Was the first buttony thing a typewriter or cash register button/key?
Did anyone see at 2:48 the bigfoot tree upside down.
Charlie, with the map indicating the structures were on one side of the river and you suspecting differently; could the river have shifted its route over the past 100 years? Naturally or intentionally done by loggers?
I found one small leaf (500$) and there large leaf (27500$) 1913 canadien dime.woooo hooo
Have you in your detecting ever found trade silver I noticed some coins with a hole in them. I was just curious
Imagine using a real detector and not a kids toy, youd find a whole lot 🤣
75 years old here. Been swinging right at 50 years. True it is a mid level Fisher (around $500) and if you have watched these guys for the last many years you would know they have several high end detectors they've used. My $2000 detector finds metal. Strangely enought so does the $49 detector I bought in 1981. Spending more money does'nt insure you will find more stuff. That F-19 (I think that is what he is using) Is a very decent model for the conditions he is searching in.
@@deadman4553 Well said and thank you ! It's like fixing something that's not really broken !
