Yo Todd thanks for loving some of the greatest movies of all time! Gonna watch Joe Black and Scent of a Woman! Out of all of them Barney Stinson and Joey Tribani inspired me. I'm not a movie guy, I'm more of a rock 'n' roll man. But rock 'n' roll actually taught me exactly what you're talking about. Listen to Motörhead, Thin Lizzy, 74-77 Kiss, AC/DC to some extent... these bands pack blue-collar, masculine attitudes that nobody teaches these days. Thin Lizzy is actually a more down-to-Earth approach on how men fall in love. Not that crybaby shit.
Hey Todd. Take a look at Hit Man (2023 film). Real life story of a guy who pretends to be different types of hitman, one of which is a badass James Bond type. It is a good one for a breakdown cause he is usually shy and uncalibrated but transforms himself when playing the cool hitman guy (seductive/confident).
Todd I have a good one:Suntan. From Greece, life and sex for an introvert doctor on a Greek island during the summer. He makes lots of mistakes and he fall in a hippie girl. Then tries to do game with tourists.I found it very realistic and portrayed how the average guy out there reacts with younger women and why women are eventually afraid for such guys.In short:what a man should not do if he wants to have women.
Know your skin type and optimize it with investments lads, neglect of personal care counts for 70% of aging for dudes and only 30% genetic. This also involves discipline and little to no harmful drugs
I like ryan gosling in Fall guy, nonchalantly flirting with Emily Blunt character after not seeing her for years. I think Glen Powell would be a good fit for movies like you’re talking about, he was great in Everybody wants some
As a guy that was a teenager during the 80's I agree with Todd's assessment. There are no movies made for men anymore. Could be why they suck and don't make money
@DanielW-m9d Is it really the dinamic different? The environment, media and communication technology has changed, but intrinsically woman are still attracted to confident masculine man like they were 20-40 years. Behavioral evolution cues do not change that fast. Because the doctrine of feminization of man is happening by the media, there is no surprise that young man are struggling more than prior generations
I never saw the post with the movie recommendations, but I'll add a few more (sorry these are also a bit old but you're pretty spot on with this phenomenon): Swingers 1995 (Personal favorite of mine. Plenty of scenes to break down for both good AND bad examples of game. Also a fantastic movie about the importance of Wingmen) Vicky Christina Barcelona 2008 (Woody Allen does an excellent job depicting the dichotomous nature of Women's dating priorities with the 2 main female characters. Most people analyze the "cold approach" scene because it's so refreshing to see a male character cold approach someone, but I really think more should be said about the dialogue between the two leads.) Out of Sight 1998 (George Clooney has an infectious charm and should be studied with a microscope. The approach is fine, but really it's his presentation and his tonality. Even the early scene where he robs a bank while complimenting the clerk displays this.) I'm confident these were probably already mentioned in the comment section of your poll but just wanted to toss them out in case. Cheers mate!
You could try series on streaming services like you mentioned - Queen's Gambit is a great show that has interesting dynamics between the main character Beth Harmon and three other love interests Harry, Townes and Benny. Harry has low confidence and screws up his opportunities while she falls for the other two. Your analysis of the three characters would be really interesting
We've still had movies like 'The Beekeeper,' 'Rebel Ridge,' 'Nobody,' 'Plane,' 'John Wick 4,' 'The Killer,' '65,' 'Top Gun Maverick,' 'The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,' 'In the Land of Saints and Sinners,' 'Samaritan,' 'The Bikeriders,' 'Horizon,' 'Dragged Across Concrete,' 'Wanted Man,' 'Equalizer 3,' 'One Fast Move,' 'Road House,' 'Fast Charlie,' 'Wrath of Man,' 'Wolfs,' 'Trigger Point,' 'The Bricklayer,' 'Oppenheimer,' 'Dead Reckoning,' 'The Pope's Exorcist,' 'Werewolves,' 'Greyhound' and 'The Silent Hour' as well as shows like 'Reacher,' 'Tulsa King,' 'The Old Man,' 'The Agency,' 'The Night Agent' and the upcoming movies 'Riddick: Furya,' 'Heat 2,' 'The Bookie and the Bruiser,' 'The Passion: Resurrection,' 'The Battle of Baktan Cross,' 'F1,' '28 Years Later,' 'Den of Thieves 2,' 'Nobody 2' and 'Play Dirty' to help balance things out.
These movies were part of the dreaded so called “social conditioning” - Things are so bad now people could actually benefit by being conditioned by them
Honestly, I've always found the romcoms "She's Way Out of My League" and "Plus One" pretty good. The former is more unrealistic in my opinion, but worth looking in to.
Todd, as someone (me) who is no game expert but has had a couple of very loving and fulfilling relationships, why would you say you had some of the best experiences with women? What was it (beyond sex) that made them so great and memorable for you?
There was no apps during the time of these movies. Women have too many options nowadays. I would advise any young man starting out to not worry about women at all and just worry about making money. If something falls in your lap fine but do not settle and do not get married ever. The reality is most women are just not worth the effort and the majority of it comes down to your looks and your money. Of course you need social skills in life but you can have the best social skills ever if you do not have looks and money nothing else matters.
Do a breakdown of the D.E.N.N.I.S system on it's always sunny in Philadelphia. Yeah it's mostly just a joke, but I feel like there's some truth to it and it was made to make fun of the rising popularity of pick up artists at that time
I'd argue that all those movies are extremely blue-pilled. Andy in The 40 Year Old Virgin didn't get any better at game, he just got some used up grandma who had him sell off his million dollar collectables. The only red pilled movie I've seen about dating is The Last American Virgin.
Also the answer to why those movies aren't being made anymore, a certain strain of Puritan Calvinism. In the past one episode of this was the " Hays Code".
Strange, I find most movies unrealistic for flirt and love, and as the expression goes, very "blue pill", lots of chasing and needy behavior by men. And in movies, the actual "game" part was often non-verbal, just quick cut scenes of the actors in different settings cut to cheesy music, and voila, it was done ha ha. Your specialty is that you demystify those parts. In fact, I'd say these movies did a LOT of harm. Most gals that jump from one relationship to the next are only into the flirt phase, the limerence phase shown. In movies and stories, it's only focused on that, and then the quick mention or implied "they lived happily forever after". While in the real world. the "after", that's the longest part, by far. I'd even say that you, Todd, are into the flirt part, and not into the rest of the relationship. As men, we admire action heroes, strong fearless characters and so on, but we don't think we can do the same and start gunning down bad guys. Women actually want to find the Perfect Mister Millionaire Prince Charming as in their dumb love movies.
The ugly truth up until the sappy Hollywood ending. Some of what women want is useful. Also, up until the Hollywood ending, you can add Down with Love. And in the non-romantic comedy movies, you can't beat RDJ in Iron Man.
@@phontomz I'll answer with characters instead. John McLain(tough) Indiana Jones(adventurous) Rocky Balboa(relentless) Han Solo(street smarts) And for dominance the best example I can think of is Dwayne Johnson in the movie Faster(2010)
I don’t think Todd is in touch with reality! Those movies are hurtful to men today. Ever since Feminist and woke gain more power! Masculine movies were less produced. for modern day examples check out all the reality dating tv shows. Many good interactions amongst the awkward/funny ones. Shows like love island, love is blind, ultimatum, too hot to handle, bachelor in paradise, temptation island, etc
I might be Todd's biggest fan but because of the cost of living crisis + climate change , 80 % of people are in too much trouble to think about dating in 2024.
There was that towers incident in NY, the Ozon hole, y2k,... Media always find some more or less serious story to sell. Housing affordability as a percentage of disposable income has been equally expensive until around 2001 - people just spend less money in other spent less money on other shit (there's a good quote in another 90s movie called fight club). Crying and making excuses has never worked for men - so go out and take the initiative.
