It can be difficult to find Neutral on Harleys . I changed to Amsoil and never had that problem since . He actually could have shut the bike down and put it in Neutral much easier . I'm surprised that he doesn't have a toe heel shifter .

I have a 2014 Road King and it's hard to get into neutral as well. But not that hard. You need to put it in neutral while it's still rolling. Then it just slides right in.
Road Glide here ,changed to Amsoil ,shifting is much easier . With those boots a toe heel shifter would make it easier .
