This would be a perfect replacement for my Z Cam E2 that I've been using for over 4 years now. And I don't know why people are complaining about M43? With a Speedbooster XL, my Canon EF 24-105mm f4 becomes a 31-135mm f2.5 lens. Such a great range, and more than Super 35. Then with 16 stops of dynamic range, the global shutter and high frame rates, this thing's a winner. Great work Kinson!
The frame rates spoken about aren't that high - the Cion had Global Shutter and does Uncompressed Raw DCI4K at 120fps in 2014. The big improvement since then has been the speed of the recording media - Where the Cion had you dragging around a PC or Mac Pro with a Kona4 card and raid array, the newer cameras can access media that will record those rates internally, albeit still in Compressed Raw. The M4/3 sensor enables smaller bodies, add a classic film era prime lens that might be 7cm diameter and 5cm deep, like a Nikkor, Pentax or Contax-Yashica, and that makes this much more useable inside a vehicle in an action sequence, or half the size and mass of a RED under a Drone.
That was a very pleasant conversation. I appreciated the quality of the interaction there. Though I generally don't film fast moving subjects or move the camera around a lot - mainly due to the limitations of having a rolling shutter - given the option I would always prefer a global shutter over a rolling shutter, and more dynamic range is always very welcome.

True that that F6 Pro has the LF look whereas on this camera you'd have to choose between a focal reducer and the insertable END. I think the biggest selling point of the F6 Pro is the better I/O though.
Is the f6 pro same sensor as f6? Or is it an improved sensor . Because that sensor have been used by many cameras already (recently new ff Blackmagic) and it’s limited in terms of dr (12stops via cine D testing )
@@chicobraz4335 IIRC from zcam's communications is that it's the same sensor, with a slight improvement in DR compared to the F6. I wouldn't expect a large difference in the benchmarks, maybe the F6 Pro just has better noise reduction or amplifiers compared to the F6 model.

@@raquetamalvada it sure is! Not sure what you mean by the form factor sensor? The form factor of Z Cams is fabulous. You can build them out or strip them down, so flexible. After a couple of years with an E2F6 I now dislike shooting with mirrorless body cameras ;-)
@@raquetamalvada no worries, yes, I understand re sensor size ;-) I use the z-cam mainly for documentaries, promotional shorts, educational content and snow sports (mainly ski racing). The M5G *might* be interesting for ski racing, though I've actually found in 6k 2.4:1 and 5k 60p, plus even 4k 24p lo jello, the F6's rolling shutter is fine. At 60p and above it's barely noticeable, and with the new 4k 4:3 anamorphic too even at 24p it's hard to spot, which surprised me. Less sensor height used so quicker scan I guess. So maybe no need for a global shutter cam for me. Often smaller sensor sizes are easier for tracking focus on high speed objects so that might be a positive for the M5G, but I just love the image the F6 creates. Let's see how the DR of the new cam stacks up...
Global shutter + m43 is a bad combo tbh, so either you use speedbooster to shoot high frame rate but you will need lidar for focus since the auto focus will get slower with speedbooster. Or you dont use speed booster also dont have enough light for shooting in high frame rate.
You don't use cinema cameras for auto-focus and you can still use lidar with a speedbooster or just have a focus puller. They say it has the highest DR of all their cameras and will also be dual native ISO. The Z Cams have a Low Noise mode, if this model has it as well then just shoot in the 2nd native iso in low noise mode with a fast lens on a speedbooster and actually light your scenes and you'll be good to go
@potatorigs2155 that's literally every camera company except ARRI. If the sensor is even close to 16 stops that would still be an achievement for a global shutter with DGO and dual native ISO
No this is not the highest Global Shutter camera. For example the Freefly Wave, Freefly Ember and Chronos 1.4 and 2.0 are global shutter and can do 1000+ fps.
And they still have that useless postage-stamp size screen on the top of the camera. It’s clear to me that they aren’t listening to customer demand. They have great potential but, they continue to half-azz it with their finished products.
Unfortunate that it's using non-standard framerates. 94fps instead of 96fps. 116fps instead of 120fps. Means that on most displays & in most standard workflows it's gonna exhibit dropped frames. Basically makes the entire camera non-functional for professional use cases. Such an absolutely weird decision.
Only the RED Komodo/X line is global shutter. It's not as common as you think. Not even ARRI cameras are global shutter. There's a couple older Sony cams(like the F55) and some lesser used Black Magic cams.

@@alzibaba maybe your are right; i didn´t though at frame rates, neither i thought about the Komodo X. For sure, adding GS to a 4/3 sensor are great news, but the form factor sensor, seems a little bit dissapointing. I have this sensation that the prosumer market is a battlefield those days...
@@raquetamalvada it sure is!
Not sure what you mean by the form factor sensor? The form factor of Z Cams is fabulous. You can build them out or strip them down, so flexible. After a couple of years with an E2F6 I now dislike shooting with mirrorless body cameras ;-)
@@alzibaba ím sorry! I mean to say sensor size!, btw i love what z-cam doing! What do you use you z-cam for? What kind of projects?
The price is too high for a m43 camera
It’s a dual gain output global shutter. It’s not for you.
10:11 $3999
Global shutter + m43 is a bad combo tbh, so either you use speedbooster to shoot high frame rate but you will need lidar for focus since the auto focus will get slower with speedbooster. Or you dont use speed booster also dont have enough light for shooting in high frame rate.
You don't use cinema cameras for auto-focus and you can still use lidar with a speedbooster or just have a focus puller.
They say it has the highest DR of all their cameras and will also be dual native ISO.
The Z Cams have a Low Noise mode, if this model has it as well then just shoot in the 2nd native iso in low noise mode with a fast lens on a speedbooster and actually light your scenes and you'll be good to go
@@phoenixfunny4517 zcam claim high dr but underdeliver
@potatorigs2155 that's literally every camera company except ARRI.
If the sensor is even close to 16 stops that would still be an achievement for a global shutter with DGO and dual native ISO
drone camera for 1.... global is so much better on fpv etc for cinema etc
No this is not the highest Global Shutter camera. For example the Freefly Wave, Freefly Ember and Chronos 1.4 and 2.0 are global shutter and can do 1000+ fps.
Realise date 2024
Just so anyone who was interested in this is aware they cancelled this camera's development
And they still have that useless postage-stamp size screen on the top of the camera. It’s clear to me that they aren’t listening to customer demand. They have great potential but, they continue to half-azz it with their finished products.
Dead on arrival most mft have very low rolling shutter and shot 5.7k
productions will destroy them faster than Z cam can produce them
👍🏾🙏🏾
meh still same body the io is lacking upgrade in location
4k$ !!! meh pass
All looks nice, but,... CFast Media??? Come on, over priced and way slower the NVMe based media. CFast needs to be kicked to the curb.
It'll most likely get those extra frames squeezed out later
immediately sold it, horrible system & workflow, dont fall for it
Wow
Every red is global shuttee goofball..theres quite a few most cimera cmaers are global shutter and they have higher frame rates..ghe question is price
Only the RED Komodo/X line is global shutter. It's not as common as you think. Not even ARRI cameras are global shutter. There's a couple older Sony cams(like the F55) and some lesser used Black Magic cams.
It says sdi right on the msrketing behind him...this guy is adumny im sorry i love cheap cine cmaeras like ecams and more competition is great but they need competent interviewers man..cuz this guys kneos nothjng about the camera hes showing
What are you talking about? That marketing is for the E2F6 Pro, not the M5G - you can see it's a different camera body with vents on the upper image in the marketing. That's the F6 Pro with SDI, not the camera he's introducing here. Please check your facts before making such disparaging comments about others.
