I will never understand the hate this game received.
I think the people who loved the combat in the older games are disappointed with the combat in this game.
I can see why, I think this game would have gotten far less negativity if it was not named Prince Of Persia and something else.. nevertheless, this game is one of my favorites

As a fan of old DMC I hated reboot version, even though it has overwhelmingly positive review on steam.
Mainly there wasn't enough enemy to fight, so you only walking, jumping until you reach to the boss so that was kind of lame experience compare to the other pop games. But in my opinion the game was an epic journey. Shame they didn't make a sequel
The Sands of Time trilogy was very combat orientated, so I can see how someone that started playing the games at that point was expecting more combat gameplay. Quite unlike the 3 games before them, where combat was usually best avoided, as enemies were like mini bosses.
This game is more of a throwback to the old Prince of Persia games: less enemies, stronger enemies.

"The healing" 4:15 is absolutely beautiful. This game has to have the most beautiful soundtrack.

I know, right? This game felt huge! And that was one of the best things about it, was that it really let you see how immense everything was. Look at The Two Thrones, for contrast. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING happens in tight, closed, environs. Even the gardens felt like there was only one path. In this one, there's at least two paths to everywhere. And barring a couple places, the entire thing happens outside, or near enough to it to make you feel the space around you.

Ikr. For me. The feeling of isolation in the gameplay was so tranquil. Especially the music.
For me it was peaceful. As in 2008, Internet wasn't a thing and Tv, radio and newspaper were the only source of information(unaffordable Internet with 56kbps) I read about this game in newspaper. It was only like 2-3 lines about this game. I was excited that pop t2t had sequel(it wasn't I know). Then I got it through nearby pirated cd seller and I played it. The familiar theme played for 6-7 seconds and it changed. I was disappointed. But the tittle theme was the first thing I was listening. For straight 15 mins. The game was peaceful. I was 14 back then and I still have the full soundtrack in mp3 format since 2010(affordable internet service started). Sometimes I fly away from adult responsibilities and find peace with this soundtrack. It's perfect for my solitude.

I played this game when I was 15 during holidays. It brought me into another world for two weeks. It was really enchanting. I spent so much time on it by day that I was dreaming about it during the night !

As an old Prince of Persia fan, I can say that POP2008 left a sour taste in my mouth. Maybe I'm biased by the older games.

I personally believe this game was outstanding by itself. No need to compare it with the other trilogy. Yes it has weaknesses, but even now I still enjoy just walking, climbing and jumping around in this game for it's ambiance and story development.

I tried to think this game was something completely separate from the previous games. Maybe that's why it's also easier to accept it for what it is - a re-imagining.
it's not bad as a stand alone exept for the story( the prince randomly meets elika ,helps her to seal a god than rewakens him) but not what the fans wanted

I think the prince would be someone who'd fall from one adventure into another judging from his talks with Elika throughout the game.
The ending was a bit disappointed so yes, you're right at that. Guess it made a full circle and the writers thought that it worked out in their favor. I don't see the prince wanting any land or being a ruler of people when the only thing he actually wanted was to have Elika return.
sweetangel0467 Back then when it came out, i was disappointed because i wanted more of the old prince. But when the story developed more and more, i was more indulged into completing the arc and saving the day, and forgot about what i wanted in the first place.
And after i finished the game, although i didn't like the game play much, i realized how deep and heart quenching the ending is, and how much it had so much meanings! It touched upon human selfishness in love. A very controversial subject if you ask me.
Right at this moment, i started to see the whole experience, when it settled in with all the story arc. I started to see the whole message, the ego and selfishness of humans even in their emotions. It was a very nice ending, although depressing.

Not till Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite did we get another NPC escort quest that didn't feel like a chore. Elika honestly felt like she almost didn't need you, which was actually really refreshing.

I played it in 2009, 2010 , 2012,2013 , 2014 , 2019 just bought it on Xbox backwards compatible games.... I'll play it even if i complete it 20x times..... Best game according to me , there is something in these old games , they just touch your heart..... Which these new games with graphics can't do ☺️

I don't get why so many people hate this game. I loved playing it, it was a calm story to play, and the music was amazing. The characters were likable and funny. I get that it was so different from the other PoP games, story and game play wise, but I think the risk taken with this game and it's ending was amazing. I loved it, and I was satisfied with the whole thing.
My favorite Prince of Persia of all time. They could totally write a brilliant sequel. I remember the screen going black with the Prince carrying Elika in his arms... There's totally room for a come-back... :D

5:10-6:38 touched my heart, parents will never understand gaming. They always think its mindless killing but deep down they are pieces of art. Many say they regret playing video games during their childhood, but for me I'll never regret it. I love video games and soon one day I'm going to have to drop the controller and store it all away which makes me cry even when I think about it.

2020 and i am still listening . This game is one of my favorites ever , liked it so much on every aspect almost . We really need a sequel of sorts , Ubisoft should return to PoP universe , enough of Assasins creeds over and over , get Stuart Chatwood , Inon Zur back and create magic again .

I think it's better without a sequel you know that's what the story is about(finding your own way, following your own will) and the game does that by itself. Either you could have saved the world just by leaving the trees as they were or do what each one of us did.
@@sohampramanik5790 I get what are you saying but i still want one , it tehnically already has one , that was made for the nindento 3dx i think , so a full blown 3d one is much awaited . They need to take a break from the Assassins games and PoP is the perfect universe to return to and hopefully they will if the Sands of Time remake will be sucessful maybe they will decide to return to this one too .

This was the best prince of persia game. I bought my PS3 to play it. And it still leaves a mark on my art taste for games. It was a beautiful game and especially in music and tone.

This is the only game I know that threatens you with death, but you cannot die. It is also the only game I know that has what I call a "second-person" perspective; during the last segment of the game, right before the final cutscene, the game adopts the perspective of Arhiman. I call it second-person because you take the perspective of the enemy, the "you", whereas the character's perspective is usually either first or third person.

I would say that you can very much die. The game just handles it so smoothly that you hardly notice.
Compare, for example, with the Arkham games. If you die, the game will have a nice long gloat about it (which, in all honesty, I found to be rage inducing at some points in the game) before dropping you back into the same fight. In this game, on the other hand, if you "die" you'll get pulled out of combat, everything will reset, and you have to fight the same fight again.
Same result, just a slightly different way of doing it.
that's an incredibly fleshed out score for a game. over 200 minutes of music.. quite a job for the composer(s)

Back when UbiSoft was actually a really good large company....I feel Assassin's Creed made them lose sight on what they truly were. As a large company, they brought out truly niche, eccentric, and artistic games that were unique and were an example of what a large AAA game developer and publisher should be. Now, they're an Assassin's Creed factory. The game series is fantastic, but that's all they're doing. Outland and Child of Light are beautiful gems that should have gotten more recognition. Rayman Origins and Legends was a chance for them to return to their artistic roots.

Trilogy was nice. But for me this is the best game in terms of story, characters, setting and music. I like how cool the protagonist at the same time silly and i like elika character shes sweet strong willed and pure :-)

i played prince of persia only part ,and feel myself totally into tha game , outstanding game and magical soundtrack...👌🤩
One of my favorite games. Always seen it as a different kind of PoP, not connected to the other and so i was fine with it unlike all the other fanboys. This game had everything: story, characters, good chemistry, beautiful art, an ai companion that wasnt actually worthless. Loved the dialogs, the little details (like that you could catch Elika by standing where she would jump to) showed that the developers cared, absolutely loved the artsy, acrobatical combat. The only thing that i disliked was how easy the game was.
Makes me sad when i compare this great game to Forgotten Sands. Probably won't see a game that i like so much in a long while.
I love the little thing they do when you're on a narrow beam. Turn around, and they'll clasp hands, and switch places. The fact that they have those kind of things programmed in, says a lot about how much care went into this game.

Simply put one of the best soundtracks for a game ever and for me personally the best game in the entire series. I just completed it again yesterday after playing it eight years ago and it was just as mesmerizing as the first time I played it. I wish Ubi would put Assassin's Creed on ice for a bit and resurrect this instead. AC could do with a bit of time off.
The game definitely falls into my top 50 games of all time.

This game was basically a mix of Prince of Persia and ICO/Shadow of the Colossus in my opinion. A good one, and a great game, but not what people expected from Prince of Persia.

Absolutely love this game. No microtransactions, no need to grind, no toxic community in the multiplayer section which don't even exist. Just think, learn, play, and experience. It was beautiful. Still is, and will be. Today we need more games like this.

I played this game probably 50 times start to finish as a kid
I liked how you didn't or can't die in this game, every time you try to die or die Elika would say you making it seem as if you didn't die. It made the game quite immersive instead of your standard dying and re-spawning back at the last check point, it made it felt like Elika saved you.

2008 The world was not ready for such a bold move from the developers back then. It is such a good game and better than it's predecessors in many ways. Loved the main character and Elika's conversations , the story , exploration etc. The stylised choice for the game graphics makes the game look decent even today . God i wish they would bring this back from the dead.
The references to Zoroastrian mythology were fascinating, was hoping to see Ohrmazd appear in a sequel.

Why even compare this to the SOT trilogy? They're just different games that are great in their own ways
It's a different game, but it's still named PoP. Because that's how big companies work. Ubisoft could have gone and let go of the whole "prince/princess" theme. But they knew that having more creative and daring project was risky and probably would generate less income. That's why we have this completely unneeded "reboot" few years after last game of the series came out. That's also why we have movie series reboots (i.e. Spiderman), or call of duty every god damn year.
Comparing comes only natural when the games bears the same title, and should be done as a way of calling out on the developer/publisher in hopes of stopping of this torrent of mediocrity.
polityka nazw Except it was a great game and a brilliant change of pace from the older games which can and have been easily compared to any other action exploring genre out there, save for the more intellectually involved aspects. The downfall of this game is that I fear they held back in some aspects... If they would have put more investment and time..risk into it (I know that they did put a TON of work, effort and intention into this), I believe it would have been more than a revolution in the field. :/
Koudtah Maple This game was a piece of shit. The mechanics were clunky, the combat was just a boring QTE, and the story sucks.

The mechanics were fluid if you had a crumb of general cognition, a shred of hand-eye coordination and a hint of conscious involvement in what you were doing (aka playing the game and making decisions on your own, not just story sequence-wise) you'd be able to see that. I won't even talk about the story since it's mainly a matter of opinion especially when you consider the SOT trilogy's story. It's no better. I loved it.

i miss the game all those years ago i played it and i stand by that it was amazing story sounds and combat was fantastic and it deserved so much greater than it got ill die on the hill that this should of been what prince of persia should of been moving forward lost crown doesn't have the same feel as the original ones and this was a perfect game to help continue a legendary legacy
