Definitely. 💯 I don't think Maximilian should be included after his abysmal damp squib of a 'reaction'. I mean, sorry to sound a bit mean but if you cannot whip up at least one scream after that seismic event that hit Us and that We were all blessed to witness last week, you cannot be a proper Metroid fan! I _still_ cannot get over Beyond's looks for once , how on Earth is that even running on Switch above 20fps?? Retro deserve GOTY just for that alone! 😂
SuperMetalDave64 with that beautiful new Metroid Prime 4: BEYOND logo behind him... nice! My screensaver now is an image of that new forested area in the game!
My theories on what Sylux and Prime 4 could be about: I don't buy into the whole Samus being related by blood to Sylux or anything like that. Seems like a major stretch. What I can buy into: Sylux worked for the Galactic Federation at one point, left because he saw there were evil people in charge in some sort of hush-hush top secret confidential stuff going on regarding the true purpose of Metroid Prime and Metroid themselves. Sylux could have been high ranking and saw all of the confidential documents, didn't like what was going on and left to be his own "anti-hero bounty hunter" and because Samus helped them, he sees her as the enemy as well. So during the game Sylux follows Samus, watches what she is doing and gets into confrontations with her. I'm thinking reveals to her why he has been following her around and why she can't be trusted because of her connection with the GF. He reveals the truth on who is really running the show in the GF. Samus sees the evidence and perhaps/maybe joins with Sylux to bring down the person in charge and expose him/her for who they really are. In a far-fetched theory expounding on that, imagine it turns out a high ranking Space Pirate controlled the Galactic Federation all along? LOL joking but am I??? With ALL OF THAT BEING SAID, only question I have is why is Sylux clearly (at least based on the trailer) working with the Space Pirates... UNLESS there is a section of Space Pirates who are actually good and want to separate themselves from the rest of them? LOL again, far fetched but the question remains, why work with them? Edit: I just watched a bit more and you guys bring up Time Travel and I remember hearing that was going to be the original intention for Echoes before it was decided to be a light vs dark scenerio,... and now I have to put all of that into my brain figuring out what they will do with that and btw IT WOULD MAKE A TON OF SENSE based on the logo of Prime 4 itself... looks like a TIIIME MAAAAACHHIIINEEE... maybe that is one of the GF's secrets?? Could explain the warp point in the last section of the trailer... interesting, interesting, interesting....
The most epic crossover ever! Awesome discussion fellas! I think speaking for myself, it was so cathartic to see that trailer and to know immediately that holy crap, we are seeing Metroid Prime 4 after all these years of waiting. It was such a release and now we live in a world where we know it’s coming soon(ish) and we know it’s going to be great and now we get to enjoy the ride talking and speculating about the game until it comes out!! Cant wait to continue to watch all the great content you all put out surrounding this game
If nintendo made a Metroid theme park based on Metroid Prime 4s success, what things could they add? I think they could add a restaurant with Metroid theme foods and a gift shop, and they could add tallon overworld as a place to explore or add something else other than that Update: I thought of one metroid themed food I think would be a good idea, a metroid burger
21:35 The beams in MP Remastered do actually light up the surfaces that they fly past. The area of the light is just so small and near to the beam and the shot flies by so fast that you usually don't notice it. But if you shoot right next to a wall you can see the light travel on the surface of the wall.
Firstly, I have an opinion on when Metroid Prime 4: Beyond comes out in 2025. The part where they said "planned for 2025", the way I took it is, it's a way to throw you off track because I am in the same boat where I believe it will be a cross-gen title. Why does this matter? Well, The Switch 2 comes out next year, Prime 4 comes out next year but we don't know the exact month and day either the Switch 2 or Prime 4. If they were to tell us the exact same month and day Prime 4 comes out, Nintendo probably thought "the fans are also probably going to figure out the release date of the Switch 2 which we want to reveal in a separate live event later on". So there you have it, problem solved? As for some of the discussions from this video, a lot of exciting talks about predictions/theories on what this game's mechanics could be, the music etc The whole idea of having Samus use the grapple beam/lasso as a way to pull enemies/space pirates in and either meleeing them or shooting them in their mouths is such a good idea, it's making me smile ear to ear just thinking about it. SO YES, that would be EPIC if that was a mechanic in the game. Also wouldn't it be cool to have some quick time events too. Not a over abundance of it but a good taste of it here and there throughout the game. For example, a space pirate is able to pin Samus down to the ground while the pirate is breathing on the visor and you have to quickly mash "A" to punt them off of you! Also if a enemy is too close just use her other arm/elbow to punch enemies away from you would be super awesome! Maybe some run and slide mechanics. Kinda like most first person shooters these days. You see it in COD, Apex Legends, even Fortnite ( I know this one isn't 1st person mostly), You run and slide to dodge enemies or objects coming at you. As for the music. Yup. Sounds like Yamamoto for sure. Even if it is not him, it is for sure someone who mimicked his style well maybe Yamamoto became a sensei for a bit and taught his styles lol. I love the mix of Korg M1 syntheszizer sounds mixed with a symphony and some choirs, that's why it sounds like Metroid Prime 3: Corruption's music and I love it.
I left a message back in May on one of Rob's videos predicting that the "one more thing" at this Direct was Metroid Prime 4. So I guess that makes me the most legitimate Nintendo leaker at the moment.
I would love to see new skins and sets for Samus' suit as a new mechanic (a color palette such as the new gunship would be neat), more survival mechanics and crafting, and also improved combat. Maybe some elements thar we find in Doom but without loss what make prime special.
I agree!! I've been thinking about this for a long time. One of my favorite things about Metroid is to see all the different suits; especially in the Prime games. I would LOVE if we could customize our suit with different colors, equipment etc.
If they plan on remastering Prime 2, THE ammo fix would be to implement ammo recovery from enemies and caches and make it dynamic. Depending on how many ammo expansions you have, how hard of an enemy to take out was, what your health and missile count looks like. That sorta thing.
I've been following you guys for 7 years. Metroid is such an important game to me, in so many aspects. Seeing you all now finally discussing Prime 4 is a really exciting event! Thanks Andres for gathering everyone on this show, I'm looking forward to see what the future holds for Metroid!
18:52 ...absolutely Andres... Retro Studios is not going to prioritize the Switch 2 version over the Switch 1 version like what the Zelda team did for BOTW, as they scrapped the gamepad integration of the map in the Wii U version of BOTW and dumbed it down to focus on the Switch version... Retro Studios will make the Switch 1 version of Prime 4 as polished as possible and running as good as it can...
I think what a lot of people don't undrerstand about Prime is that its a beautiful trnaslation from side scroller to 3d. So, to have things being an interconnected section of rooms, it still follows the metroid formula. Metroid should never have the BoTW treatment, to be completely honest, Zelda should've never gotten an open world treatment either because it really broke what amde Zelda, Zelda.
In discussing whether MP4 Beyond is a cross gen game, one fact was overlooked. The Switch 2 release was pushed back. Nintendo was supposed to be concerned with number of games in the launch window of the new system.
Prime 3 and Other M suffered with the Wii controls layout, but the gameplay ideas were really good. If Prime 4 just reuse the concepts of their predecessors it would be already amazing, once they would finally have convencional controls to be played with. Imagine then what new ideas they will come out, this game will be ridiculous good.
If you want to know how MP4 would look on the Switch 2, I recommend looking at games that released both on the PS3 and the PS4. For example "MGS V: The Phantom Pain" and "Destiny". I definitely expect MP4's texture resolution (which includes the resolution for normal/bump maps) to go up. Because the version from the trailer has blurry textures.
Prime 4 was announced too early because of Federation Force's backlash and to prevent the same hate going towards Samus Returns that was later announced in that same direct on June 13 2017. Usually Nintendo never announces a game that is just starting development.
Prime hunters also had ammo for the alternative weapons, but evemies dropped ammo regularly. I enjoyed, using the other guns to open certain doors, but we'll see what happens if that mechanic returns.
I could see the reason they put the cosmic year at the beginning of the game is for when you travel into the "wormhole" and exit for I would think the full game it will tell you the new time travel cosmic year. Just a thought.
Wait a second, Dread did nothing to enhance Samus as a woman/individual? It showed more of who she is than any game besides Fusion. We hear her speak, we see her body language. That’s a bad take.
I think MP4 will launch next to Switch 2's Mario game because the N64 and Wii U launched with a Mario game that did not move enough units. The gamecube launched with Luigi's Mansion and also did not move enough consoles. Nintendo may not put all their eggs in one basket this time and launch with two big games. I also think there won't be a generic launch game anymore like "1-2 Switch" or "NintendoLand" because Nintendo understands now that Wii Sports was an anomaly. So, long story short: instead of 1 big game + shovelware, we get 2 big games with less shovelware.
Something I'd like to mention: If this game happens after Dread, that would mean that Samus HERSELF would be Metroid Prime, since she is a Metroid and the most powerful one in the galaxy.
I’d hope the time travel aspect, (if there is any to begin with) would remain relatively inconsequential to the story. For example; I’d be interesting if the game took place on a single planet, except you travel in different points of time, AKA you travel to the planet’s distant past/future and use it to solve puzzles or get to new locations.
I still don't believe it'll be cross generational, however, with the amount of time they are taking with this, I can somewhat buy into the idea that they may be preparing a next gen version alongside this one. There is that.
Kind of how Metroids will no longer be the focal point of the future 2D games, it will still be called Metroid. So the name Metroid Prime will just be the title of first person Metroid regardless of the existence of the Metroid prime
What if you don't lose your powers, you lose YOUR ENTIRE SUIT. Then must go "Beyond" to faraway worlds with your backup suit that has no powers to claim power ups to confront Sylux in the end.
I don’t think the first attempt necessarily needed to be bad to cause a cancellation. It could’ve been a Doom 3 type situation where it would be a half-decent or even really good game on its own, but was seen as too different from what Prime is that it just wouldn’t have been good for Prime 4. In this scenario, I definitely hope they get to repurpose their works for another projects.
@@MageBurger yeah.. I'd love to see how far they got. I'm more of a 2D Metroid fan but do think the Prime series is about as close as one can get jumping to 3D.

I think it would be SO cool (but probably way too much for the dev team to make happen) to be able to play the second play through in 3rd person as a reward for beating the game the first time around
I generally don’t like the prime soundtrack. The space pirate music is like listening to a chalkboard. The whiny high pitch whistle is annoying. But there is some excellent songs to phendrana, the chozo region. I prefer konji kondo
Mario & Metroid on Day 1 please. Give people the options. The Switch library is too vast to pretend 2 otherwise very different games directly effects each other, especially under the enthusiasm of a new hardware sku to play ANYthing on

I saw this comment immediately on loading the video and doubted they had all the horseman, then I saw Rule of 2 Review and went “wait, holy crap!”
The boys are back in town! 🙌❤️
The dream team 🤘🏻
Old school people can relate the song to this comment.
You beat me to it!
Sylux is Anthony Higgs. After you beat him, his mask falls off and he says: "Remember me Princess?"
😂😂
OH SHIT.

The Logo that can be _so_ many things. A (type of) portal? An 'eye'? It ''looks'' very cryptic and mysterious as can be.
I grew up not knowing a single person that had any idea what Metroid was. So glad Prime 2002 and the internet came along and showed me I wasn't alone.
Oh, look, it's the 4 metroid dudes I follow coming together!

If they're still releasing a game like Metroid Prime 4 in 2025, then the Switch will 100% be the best selling console of all time.

Great video Andres! I enjoy the discussions and I’m very excited to learn more about Prime 4!
My favorite moment was when Samus jumped from the ship and David Hayter’s voice came out of her body saying “kept you waiting, huh?”
Holy shit I’m excited for this.

Nintendo will invest in Metroid Prime 4 to be a success for a new trilogy

Spiderball with spiderlegs and drones in her shoulders?
🤔🤔🤔🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
A game that I thought did 'time travel' in an interesting way was prince of Persia Warrior Within.
Wait a second, Dread did nothing to enhance Samus as a woman/individual?
It showed more of who she is than any game besides Fusion.
We hear her speak, we see her body language. That’s a bad take.

I don't mind beam ammo. I used to. But the beams in Prime 2 are so strong that the ammo hardly matters.

I think after Dread, knowing Metroid is Chozo for ultimate warrior, we can consider Samus is Metroid Prime, the Prime Ultimate Warrior.
Beam changes could be a weapon wheel
I would kill for aeon dash from dread it would make boss fights so much better. Worked very well in doom eternal
I wonder if we'll see some actual, living Chozo in this game and more Chozo language convo?
That was dread
Also Tanabe confirmed that it's going to focus on another race

There will be flashback that will explain why Sylux hates Samus as Tanabe promised.
I like the content that says that he is Samus' younger brother Solomon Aran
@@marcosamartinso it's bs. Samus was the only child in the family.
Why would some dude hate such perfect woman? I think they need to resolve this tension some other way 😏
She ate his sandwich

Metroid gang assembled once again 👌

It’s crazy that some of the developers are most likely in these replies.

I'm curious how bad the first attempt was.. will the original developers repurpose the work?
