Amazing. As a youngster I never understood why we let him go to Everton because that 90/91 season was ingrained in my head. Even towards the end of his stay GG would play people like Carter and McGoldrick in front of the Super Swede.
What a team that was. Only losing one game the entire season is an achievement up there with the invincibles. I don’t understand why George Graham got rid of superb flair players like Limpar and Rocky Rocastle. We dropped off in the league after that until Wenger arrived
I think Limpar Had a big falling out with George for some reason and as history showed it didnt matter how good you were or how much of a fan favourite you were if you got on the wrong side of George you were a gonner. As for Rocky i remember reading in George's autobiography that he didnt want to sell him. but the board thought that the £ 2 million that Leeds utd bid was too good to turn down for a injury prone player with dodgy knees. Sadly for Rocky they were probably right. Allthough i still reckon he would've had at least a couple of good season if he had been allowed to stay at Arsenal. Especially playing alongside Wrighty,Merson and Limpar.
