I have to say that this is an awesome video. Now because of you I can honestly say I can Crochet. I am so excited because I am making a blanket in memory of my daughter. She loved pink with brown polka dots so I have make the circles in brown and I am going to make the rest of it in pink.
I can't tell you how many of this afaghen that I have made. Found you just over two years ago when I was not sure what I was going to do with all of my Ma's yarn as at that time I did not know how to chroche was ready to toss all of the year where I found Mikey. He made it so easy .

Thank you so much for explaining how to make this granny square out of the round center. I love you how you show this slow for us beginners. Thank you SO Much!
I have watched a few tutorials about how to make granny squares and tried following along and they just did not look like squares! This is the best tutorial I have seen and I should be able to make one without having to follow along. Thank you!

Do u do clothing. Will love to c u do such a slow clear tutorial on how to crochet a very simple shortd thank u
This has solved all the issues I was having with making granny squares. This was so well explained and demonstrated, thank you! Do you have a tutorial on how to knit granny squares together?
hi, well you could try using it but the angel fleece baby yarn does have some stretch to it which may cause some inconsistencies when making your squares but give it a go it might work out fine.... Cathy@ the Crochet Crowd :)
Part #2 I would start with adding one more row out so you have 8 squares in each row for the width and add two more rows down for the length... in all you would need 72 squares...if you want it bigger than that just keep adding rows out or down until you get the size you want ....hope that helps... Cathy@ the Crochet Crowd :)
Hi lady...the original color burst afghan is 60x60in and consists of 49 squares..a queen size mattress is 60x80in, it really depends how much over hang you are going to want on your bed or do you want the afghan to fit just on the top of the bed?
Thank you >> it is really easy to apply I made one square then I wondered If i continued making a full blanket how am i going to join the squares as I want to use different colors?
You can connect this way. How to Connect Granny Rounds by Single Crochet There are other ways to connect like using a tapestry needle and yarn. Connect using a whip stitch or a mattress stitch.
I am a newbie to crochet and am interested to know what kind of hook you are using. I got a hook at my lys that has a somewhat "short" handle for me. Yours looks to be longer...thank you for the terrific video--I am loving making granny squares--as a lifelong knitter (no longer able to knit because of arthritis) I am very excited to be able to crochet w/o pain...julierose
This video is great and helpful but the granny square didn't work out for me. I'm not sure what happened but it didn't work. Please keep updating so we can all keep getting joy out of these videos :)
Sorry, how is the slip knot NOT the first chain? It looks exactly like all the other chains and I've never been told that it wasn't by anyone or in any pattern or video I've used for my projects. If you could tell me why it isn't, that would be helpful.
A slip knot isnt considered a stitch.. once you pull it tight it basically just makes a knot not a stitch. once you start chaining you start counting but the actual loop on your hook doesn't count as one, when you yarn over and pull through THAT is one
@amy you don't ignore the loop on the hook, when you yarn over and pull through that is counted as one... the new loop on the hook is then counted as two when u make the chain... does that help?
silverayne22 Still doesn't quite help me... Yes, the slip knot makes a knot at the end, but how do you just ignore the loop you put onto the hook? I guess it doesn't matter too much to me since I don't always use patterns anyway. Thanks though. :)
+Sunniva It could be your tension on them which is how tight or loose you make your stitches. Sometimes that can be fixed with blocking. I have a video on wet blocking that can be used with any yarn. Another to to make sure of is your hook. The shaft of a hook looks different depending on the brand and series of hook. Be sure that you get your loop all the way onto the shaft and not at just the throat (the skinnier part close to the actual hook). That will make the stitch smaller than it should be and then can get smaller if your natural mention is to pull tight. Also there is the wider part of a shaft of the hook. On most hooks there is a wider thumb grip area. If that yarn goes up to that then it can cause the stitch to get really big. It can get smaller or larger depending on your natural tension. Some hooks can make either of these potential problems worse than others because they may have a very small distance between these two places. If you find that is the case for you I would go to the store and hold different hooks. Study which looks best and works best in your own hands. Also asking friends if they have a brand they prefer can give you lots of direction on where to start. I know my reply is lengthy but hope it helps you. Here is the link to the blocking video. ua-cam.com/video/PJmjUHj7P_Y/v-deo.html
when watching your videos, it appears that you yarn over the 'wrong' way. instead of going under the yarn it looks like you go over it first. I always heard that you aren't supposed to do it that way.
I really enjoyed that tutorial...It was very easy to follow! I now know how to crochet a granny square with a circle in the middle ! Thanks!

This video is great and helpful but the granny square didn't work out for me. I'm not sure what happened but it didn't work. Please keep updating so we can all keep getting joy out of these videos :)
Where can I find the written pattern? Thanks!!!
Emilee L Yes you can, if you go big enough it'll make a square blanket.
thanks
Can you keep going to make an extra large granny square?
Can you do this blanket with angel fleece baby yarn?
Once you make all the squares you need, how do you make the blanket???
Fancy Dancy scissors
What size is the finished square?
Is there a written pattern for this.

how much?
I did it... but i guess it was too tight because it was round
It's impossible to get the same sized squares...

is it just you and me who noticed that? :) he get's the stitches done the right way, so I guess it doesn't matter what side you yarn over ?
