Just found this video while researching fishing in the canals. Going up to Biggera Waters for a week and I'm planning to fish every day as our airbnb is right on the canals. Quite informative, definitely worth a sub.
Mate, every time I start to get a bit stale with my yak fishing you bring out another awesome video. I'm new to lure fishing and your vids are really helping me catch some great fish down here in Coffs Harbour. Cheers!
Me and a Mate fished a similar spot (pretty sure it actually is the same spot) not a few weeks ago. Saw the biggest trevally school we have ever seen chase mullet up the canal walls while slapping surface. Definitely a unique part of the gold coast. The baitfish are thousands thick through that area too further into the enclosure
Hey mate great video I am also having trouble with straight though fluro I have given up and just sticking with braid Again can't wait for for some ideas about different rods ect
I’m gonna keep at it. I’m sure there’s some guns out there who hve it Sussex for the lighter lines. It matters nothing when Jacks hit but a subtle bream bite has it’s own skill to master I’m guessing. If I find anything, you’ll see it on my vids mate. Braid is tough to beat for basically everything ... the super clear canals are where I try to use the fluro though.
Thanks a lot Peter. I run an external shotgun mic but I’ll jack it in editing and see what happens in my next couple videos. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment and help me improve these vids mate.
Definitely give it a go with a really high action stiff rod with some light weedless hook sets, the hookup rate gets really high. I think it's because bream are actually pretty accurate little biters. At least compared to the flatties I catch, who seems to hook themselves pretty equally between their mouth and just about everywhere else on their body! haha
Hey mate live in Broadbeach waters and have just recently purchased a tinny, you have suggestions of where I should be going. Have been out a few times already and come home empty handed
Hi Liam. Get yourself a few 50mm Tango Shads and troll Em out behind your boat through the Broadwater along the edges of the sand banks. Run out tide. And in November, just troll through the canals late arvo, Lake Intrepid on Sunset with a small popper goes well ;)
Hey John! Awesome video! Reminds me of fishing down south for bream in Patterson Lakes (Gold Coast wanna be) in Victoria. Is there any Chance you can do a fly fishing vid on bass, jacks or flathead?
Hi Lachy ;) for sure mate. I’ll get it out and give it a run in the coming weeks and get something together :) it’s gotta he one of my favourite ways to fish
hey mate , I live in Raby Bay and fish the canals 1-2 times a day generally, the numbers for bream have been really slow the last few months, starting to pick up now , what size MMD prawns are you using a I have the really small ones
you are fishing all my home canals its incredible to think that just on Sunday i was fishing near that large bridge and near the blue tinnie! using the daiwa bait junkie
Great video as usual John 👍😊 Just wondering what kayak does you have? I’m looking at getting a new one and the through hull for the leccie looks great 😊
What time do u go because there never boats going around unlike when i go I can’t fish because I keep getting pushed around by the waves of other boats.

Cheers Dave. So stoked to hear it mate. There’s some cool stuff coming from the yak this season I’m sure of it ;)
I use the same technique when the Mrs calls and I’m on the yak - good old hands free upside down in the pocket holder! 😆
Hahaaaa. Brilliant.
Please do more JetSki fishing videos. I do enjoy these videos but your JetSki stuff is so exiting. Enjoyed this video though. Thanks for doing them.👍

Nice
Awesome vid yet again... 1 suggestion is to use a mic so your voice is louder n TV not on 100% volume 👍

Braid with fc leader is your answer mate. After all, that's why braid was created right?
Hey John just tossing up what Minn Kota to get. Do you have any trouble with the remote when you lock up to a big jack???

Great video as usual John 👍😊

have u finished your soft plastic yet
Another great video John. Question for you... Why do the mullet jump like they do? Are they evading a larger species or is it another reason?
Sometimes it can be but often it’s them just spooking each other... I’ve heard people say it’s about knocking parasites off but not too sure
Still going offshore mate? Few kings at tweed in close atm
What time do u go because there never boats going around unlike when i go I can’t fish because I keep getting pushed around by the waves of other boats.
I was fishing the afternoon there mate. Super early morn in the canals out of the road of the main channels is where I try to hide for the same reason
Good to have patient wives hey. Your a champ professor...phat vid JC.👑
