I think people have a point and the nerfs, at least following the current reasoning, are very bad for the longevity of the game... I am not a fan of the nerfs at all. But that said, I'm still having fun too. I try to vary my choices anyway so I didn't feel absolutely gutted by the nerfs.

I use the Machine gun support weapon and found that shooting it's open "fleshy" side at maximum BPS when it's head is in the ground, kills it pretty quickly.
The new acid rain is so fun. The hmg can kill literally anything because armor pen values go down. You can shoot bile titans in the face and get hit markers. It’s actually really fun
Be careful as to not get close to the face when you are shooting at it. There is a very common bug that will launch you into space when his tentacles recoil back to him
Impailer is a no1 threat. I've noticed if you don't run directly at the impailer if it's at a distance you will get caught by the tentacles everytime. Anymore than one is a a nightmare. The issue is this usually means running into a horde of Termanids so this unit counters your kite strat completely and forces you to fight. Jet pack might be an effective tool to close the distance so you can get a stratagem off accurately. If they could just tweak the speed or activation of the tenticle slap animation so it doesn't hit you 100% of the time and gives you a chance to juke the slam that would be fun, like you can juke the bile titan spit attack, this seems like a death sentence if there is more than one of these.
I wish there was a better way to know where the tentacles were coming from, though. Having them be a priority and changing my target to them is okay, but when I have a horde of ravenous animals drooling to get me like I'm the last iphone at a store during Black Friday, and I have tentacles violating me like I'm in a japanese adult game at the same time, I don't have time to play hide and seek.
Jetpack actually helps you if you manage to land on top of those mountain rocks. For example, at the extraction, I climbed one of those rocks and the tentacle just stood there. It couldn’t hit me from where I was standing and they can’t spawn on top, allowing you all the time in the world to kill it. Also works as a tank so that those tentacles don’t go after your friends. Main reason why I put the jetpack on a high tier. Also one thing that you should have tested is to test normal weapons on it. On level 10, there’s not one scenario where I’m not juggling between weapons. I use the eruptor so if any of those stratagems that have cooldowns do enough damage, you could potentially one tap them with your normal weapons. I haven’t personally tested it but when the railcannon strike doesn’t kill it, I can finish it off with a combo of quick swapping between the eruptor and the bushwhacker (it cancels the reload time and animation).
I've been using the flamethrower and jet pack very effectively against the Impaler. First you bait it into trying to attack you with it's tentacles and then use the jump pack to rapidly close the distance and flame it in the face.
Whats the counter when there is two and they spawn behind cover in the middle of a bug breach and im the only one that brought breach control stratagems and im on cooldown because the other players are not contributing to anything
I think impaler is the bug equivalent of the gunships. As soon as the tentacles (gunships) appear, you have to drop everything and find the impaler (gunship factory). Stalkers are kinda similar but sometimes you can just run away, but you can't do that with the impaler because the tentacles can reach all the way across the map which is pretty broken, hopefully they fix that.
I would assume that the arc thrower might arc BETWEEN the hit boxes depending on angle, so if you were slightly further to the side it might arc through all 3 hit boxes at the front.
Does smoke nades and smoke stratagems work to counter/ escape / engage them? There wasn't much detail here there might be a use case scenario to directly counter or support the team when fighting impailers?
Thank you for the testing, great job! I have a request, if you would, I have noticed the charger legs work differently. I stripped the armor with a Quasar, and was getting non damage icons after shooting the same leg with a dominator. How?
You can kill a impaler in three shots with a grenade launcher if you get to the side of it and shoot just over its right shoulder towards the front basically hitting the underside of the neck. On Dif 10 I run grenade launcher and shield back pack to keep the tentacles and small enemies from staggering me

Honestly, i don't mind the existence of the "v-spot". It feels like a bug of some kind, but at the same time it doesn't break anything and using it is based more on skill than luck, so it seems like a nice place to express player skill. At the same time i wouldn't be mad at all if it gets fixed for sake of consistency in gameplay since it can feel random and isn't indicated by visual design at all. Overall no matter if it stays or is removed i wouldn't be angry either way
26:14 AT mines + airburst launcher one shots the impaler. I’ve tested it, you have to throw the mines basically on top of the impaler, wait for the mines, then shoot the airburst launcher and watch it die. Plz test it if you don’t believe me
@maplewoodLIVE Worth noting that 3 commando shots to the back leg will kill an impaler. By far the most convient way to kill one. Head does not need to be in the ground. Front legs seem to have a health pool with the head where as back legs do not.
very true we found this in testing that the back legs had less health and the commando took less shots but the neck is just such an easy target and took 3 shots to kill in the vspot! But thank you for mentioning!
The V-Spot I would guess is caused by explosion damage potentially hitting the tentacles as separate hitboxes? Or when you shoot high on the face the explosion doesn’t register.
Here's a crucial Q: did you see anything at all where the tentacles might indicate something about where the Impaler's body is at? Something about their orientation?
I like the impaler, very cool enemy, dangerous enough to make a difference on the battle field but easy enough to kill that it offsets its lethality. I do hate the ragdoll. If a tentacle spawns under you, you literally get launched high up in the air and die from the fall. They need to fix that, I don’t mind getting bitch slapped, but getting launched across the map is no fun.
In what world are you not just using an orbital strike or 500kg to 1 shot these things? They don’t move they’re the easiest enemy to kill with stratagems
On higher difficulties you've sometimes got bile titans and behemoths around as well, so you need to be able to deal with heavies without the OPS (literally the best strat right now) sometimes.

We thought similar but over time I realized that the mouth is also a great weakspot and I believe the V spot is an extension of it
Recommendation, I highly recommend Grenade launcher + supply pack with tier 10. SO SO SO much fun and Im often the one killing the impalers.
