Thanks for joining us in today's video! Lots of changes and a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT at the end! 👉 Check out my NEW online course, "The Complete Guide to Raising Goats: how to have a healthy & happy herd" 😍 www.weedemandreap.com/goatcourse
This is awesome! I’ve been watching both you and Crystal for years now, and hope to (one day) get a few ladies of my own! Right now it’s just not in the cards for us, but when the time is right, between all I’ve learned on both of your channels, plus this course, I can feel I have a decent base to start! Thank you!
@@bellamay4038 she sells the ones she doesn’t keep? And the ones that are too old to breed would probably also be sold unless its Tilly, Luna, Willow although I won’t speak for her.
I think people tend to forget you only have so much space. You're a smaller homestead, not one with acres and acres of land. Yes we all get attached to these lovely goats, it's not like they're getting dumped or auctioned to the highest bidder. I'm sure they'll make great herd or pet goats for thier new homes because of all the love you've given them to make them more friendly!
A bit bummed Zorro is gonna leave the farm, but I understand the need for room for little Lancelot. And at least he'll be going to a loving family and get to have some new girlfriends. I'm glad you're keeping Daphne's babies. And Lola is adorable and I can't wait to see how she grows. I don't know why, but Finnick's blank stare never fails to make me cackle.
I completely agree. I'm a bit sad to see Zorro leave as he seems to have a really good temperament for a breeding buck. But, it sounds like he'll still be doing good work in the future. And, I have to be honest. I think Lola is just the cutest. I love that bouncy grey ball of joy.
So if Daphne's kids breed with Lancelot, is Daphne going to repeat mate with Finnick? Or other plans? How exciting. Most people talk about Kardashians, love island, etc. Not me I'm for the goats!! 😂
Oh I’m so sad in a bittersweet way! Soft and sappy. They are so sweet, every single one! I’m so happy you’re going to send them to safe and kind farms.
I really appreciate your methodical and scientific approach your herd. Some may not like your choices for purely sentimental reasons, but this is a working farm, not a hobby. You treat your animals ethically, but sometimes hard decisions must be made. Good job.
You guys are amazing, i’ve been watching for years. Probably since you brought tilly home. The improvement and progression you all have made is incredible!!❤
I have loved Lola from the start!! How beautiful will her and Lancelot's kids be! Her Moon spots are just 🥰. I'm also glad you kept Miss Honey! I think they will also be a great pairing!
man I was so surprised when you said you're keeping Lola but considering Tatum's build and genetics it makes a lot of sense! I hope she gets higher production from Finnick! She sure is spectacular.
I al glad you are keeping Lola, but more because I want to see how her coat looks when she is older, she is so cute! I know cute isn't a factor in who you keep or not, but her colours are so pretty
I'm so glad we'll all be lucky enough to see Lola and Honey grow up! It's sad to see Aspen leaving, but as a watcher for several years I feel so assured with the knowledge that you will make sure all the babies and mamas find great homes.
If you're working towards breeding goats with better genetics, decisions have to be made. You can't let your heart rule your head and just keep every goat. That's how people end up with more animals than they can properly care for. I totally support your decisions and look forward to seeing what happens in the future. ❤

Farm life- so many folks have a city mindset and don’t understand it. You’re such a responsible owner. You do great. Btw- that slate blue you wear around 7:50- that color makes your skin look radiant! Wow! I’m just learning about colors, but it’s definitely your color.
I'm really glad you are keeping Lola and Shania they are two of my favorites! I did wonder why tucker couldn't go to a different farm as a breeding buck though.
What I explained in the video would happen on another farm as well 🥰 There are so many incredible bucks born each year, as breeders we only retain the absolute best because it’s such an investment to raise one up
I’m so excited that you’re keeping Lola for now. I wonder what she looks like when she gets shaved. I think she’s absolutely gorgeous. One of my favorites.
I have only been watching for the last 2 1/2 years, I think you are doing a great job. When I was seven we raised goats for a time and one of them ended up giving birth on our front porch infront of the stairs. Your channel reminds me of the best years I had when I was younger. Thank you so much for your hard work and keep going!
I don't know much about goats but you have given me a lot of knowledge about them. I think your doing a great job on your goats. Your learning and experiences have made you a great goats owner in many ways. I think your on the money. 👍🥰🇨🇦
Aspen and Cedar look so amazing. I’m in love with how they look, so I’m a bit bummed. But that’s okay. You still have an amazing new herd of goats and I’m excited to watch them grow and I’m sure you are way more excited about it! :D thanks for sharing with us! And love Lola’s coloring!
So glad to see your online course! As a new goat owner, 18 years ago, I would have so much appreciated a common sense goat raising guide. Fortunately I did have some great mentors back then that helped my goat journey be happy and fulfilling. 🙂
I am so overwelmed with how far you guys have come, honestly, I've always wanted to visit you guys just to know how all of the goats are and how everything goes there. I'm so happy to see changes, but with change also comes goodbyes, which does make me sad because I don't deal with change very good, but this is not about me. I'm exited to see where this adventure will take you guys and of course no goat can live forever, but I know they had a good life if they spent it on your farm❤🎉
I’m glad you kept Lola! I know she wasn’t one of your top choices considering she’s coming from the Tilly/Tatum line and many of us love her for color. Although, I love her color and moon spots just as much as anyone else, I’m excited to see how her conformation has improved from Tatum’s. Just from seeing the differences between Tilly and Tatum, I’m hopeful that Lola will make for a better breeding doe. 💕
I'm so glad you're keeping Lola and Honey!!! I'm sure these cuts can be difficult but like you said, they're necessary. Best wishes on your course! That's amazing! I'm sure an awful lot of time and work went into it! 💜💜
Yay yay yay!! I'm so happy you're keeping Lola! I think she's the prettiest doe I've ever seen. Her and Lancelot will make some beautiful babies! He will no doubt make beautiful babies with any of the girls he will be bred with but I'll look forward to seeing if Lola makes the cut to be a definite keeper.
Oooooh! I can't wait to see which new doeling you've got in mind! Little Lancelot is a cutie. You made all the choices I would have made, which makes me feel justified in them 😂Including which does leave. Though- admittedly, the thought of Prim or Reba leaving does make me kind of sad!! Especially the redheads, with Napoleon being gone now, but Prim reminds me so much of May 😍Aaaa. The sadness of only being able to keep so many!
That’s the problem with raising any herd animal if you breed your animals… which is required for milk production…you simply cannot keep every baby born.😕 That fact is actually why many farmers try really hard to not form attachments to any of their livestock. But the farmers I admire most & the type I follow on UA-cam/TikTok are those who form bonds with & treat *all* of their animals equally…even those knowingly being raised for meat. As such farmers make sure all their animals have the best quality of life & are as happy as possible.❤ Adler Farms is another creator I watch who despite being relatively new to farming do their best to ensure all their animals are happy including the beef cattle they raise. And their trouble making goat Bruce is hilarious. They’re just fixing to start building their house so they can be on the 20 acre farm full time.
She never works on her lines she always keep rehoming her own breed and adding new goats and she does not even keep does out of her bucks she bring it’s her 4th buck and she sells the does of previous bucks its all too repetitive
@@alamodebranche She literally kept does out of all three of her bucks. As for rehoming/discontinuing her original lines, she would've been irresponsible not to. The Tilly line has low production, Penny's line had the leg issues, Luna is retired, Hazel was never meant to be theirs, and Doris was too aggressive to keep. Napoleon died, no fault of hers, and Zorro isn't improving her genetics like she hoped. All of these things are out of her control. The juniors are looking very promising but even if they don't stay, she's done a fantastic effort trying to improve on her original does. It's only this year she finally decided to make big changes.
I totally agree and respect your plan DaNelle! I can see the vision for what you’re trying to achieve and I truly believe in less than 5 years you’ll succeed it 😇☺️ I’m here since day 1 and I know how much you care and love your herd! If someone take some time to see and read everything you’re doing for goats, can understand it 😇 keep doing what you’re passionate about and have imagined 🤩💪🏼. Xoxo, Marios from Greece 🇬🇷
When I started following you guys, you were just backyard milkers but now you are transitioning to be an actual farm and improving their DNA and genetics. You are doing an amazing job with these goats ❤
I was planning to tell you even before your announcement that I have learned so much from your website! I think you are making great choices and anyone getting your goats is going to be so thrilled to have them. I am starting over with goats this year and I really want to take it to the next level. I really appreciate your videos and all of the great articles on your website. Can't Wait to check out your course! Thanks!!
I don’t have goats (I’m just here for the farm happenings/shenanigans) but I would take anything you say as gospel. I’ve watched your channel for many years and your devotion in keeping and growing a healthy, happy herd is second to none. Throw in your animal husbandry knowledge and you have the complete package. I hope your online course does well.
Of all the current kids, Lola is by far my favorite. The way her colors show, the pattern, everything. Even some as flashy with the same colors still wouldn't compare to her pelt. I really hope she raises up well for you guys to permanently keep. If I had the room, and if you decided not to keep her next spring, I would totally volunteer to buy her lol. Sadly I can't, and I'm sure anyone with the means would be super happy to have her, but again, I really REALLY hope she's a keeper for you guys in the long run. I can't wait to see her babies next year!!
Aghhh not gonna lie, teeny weeny bit sad that Aspen isn’t staying 😂 But love your decisions and am so excited to see what the next couple of years brings to your herd! SOOOO stoked to hear about the course and will absolutely be jumping on that! I’m going on 5 years into my dairy goat journey and I blame you for all of it. Mostly joking. I found your channel when I ended up with 2 milking does and had no idea what I was doing. I have learned so much from you (and other goat mentors I’ve found along the way) and am starting my process into milk testing, improving my genetics and building up my little herd. So I’ve been SO grateful that you’ve been so transparent and open in sharing your decisions for your herd - it’s been helping me so much with mine too, alllllll the way over here in Aussieland. 🎉 Congrats on launching - so amazing to see all your hard work paying off!!!
I think you guys are making great choices! This kind of thing is hard I'm having to do the same thing sell, buy, breed, and make hard choices! You guys are the best!
Lola and Honey are two of my favorite kids, so I'm happy you're raising them up! Lancelot is very cute, too! I'm looking forward to seeing what kinds of kids he produces! Congrats on creating your own online course on goats! If I had a farm and goats, I'd definitely be interested in taking it!
Lola is my absolute favorite coloring of all the little doelings. Thank you for explaining the evaluations of the goats to us in a way we can grasp it. It makes me excited to see what these little ones will become & their future offspring. ..Not sure if the online course is new, but that had to be alot of hard work!
It’s always sad to see goats go, but I can totally understand and get your reasonings. You’ve got a lovely bunch of doelings there. I feel proud as a viewer to see you guys be responsible and watch your heard grow in the right way. I wish we could fast forward 10 years to see where your genetics have headed🤣 well done on the first round of kiddings. Looking forward to the next 💚
I cant wait to get my land in a few years, I've watched you for 10 years now and I will 100% be getting goats because of you and will definitely take your course when the time comes.
Im so happy that miss honey got to stay at least for now 😍 gonna mis seeing the other babies❤ I really admire your way of thinking, you guys are doing an amazing job
Yes Daphne was amazing! 5 babies not all survived but wow was that incredible, also that she has a great utter and milk supply! I do love the crazy moon spots on lola! Not sure how well she will be hoping she gets the best genes from both parents. Honey is not a great option Just since we have seen that Tilly's babies are more of miss then hit lol but she def is very pretty. Maybe she will defeat the odds and become a wonder ful dam.
Thank you for this update. I would not know where to begin to choose who stays and who goes but I trust your judgement. You seem to know exactly what you’re doing and I’m happy that you will be sharing your experience in your new course. I’m anxious to see how the changes work out over the next few years. ❤️🐐
Danelle I'm thrilled for your raising goat guide, I follow quite a few, but you have always been you never changed, others I've lost interest in mostly because the old saying success went to their heads theory. If I was able to have goats I'd followed your advice ten out of ten times. Happy for you and the family xx
I'll admit, I'm sad Tatums leaving. I first started watching your channel when she and all of the other Moonryder kids were born. She was my favorite out of the bunch, though I'll admit I was screaming in those livestreams to name her Timber(though after a few years, I admit Tatum is a nicer name). She's been my favorite goat on your channel for a while, but I understand your decision from a breeders standpoint. Though the only thing I've ever bred is fish. I hope when I'm older I'll be able to start up my own farm
Just wanted to drop in and tell you guys thank you for teaching so much! I've been very interested in goats recently and very excited to watch your videos.
Online course? How exciting! Fabulous way to share your knowledge. Way to go! Such a great idea. Hope it is a wild success. Best wishes from northern Illinois.
So excited to see the new bloodlines, I'll miss seeing Tatum and the other babies, but I love the choices on the kidds you're deciding to keep! Lola has always been my favorite. But in all seriousness, I love what your doing and how you're improving your herd! ❤
Excited to see how these ladies grow up. Love your philosophy on learning & improving genetics, we need more breeders in all animals to breed for health & genetics. Not in a position to be raising goats myself, however if I were, I'd definitely be interested in your course. I've learnt from your blog & social media you have a great way of conveying info & you always present things so clearly all with great aesthetics. Value information in one place when raising animals will be referred back to time again.
All those babies are so pretty..I'm looking forward to Lancelot breeding the new doelings. I'm sure your going to the goat shows coming up. I know your friends Crystal and Derrick are going.
Good for you! Such knowledgeable decision making, probably hard to see such cute goats leave, but you have limited room and time. Love your channel! One of my faves.
I’m really sad to see Zorro go, but I understand that you are looking for something different with genetics that he just doesn’t have or hasn’t put out. And you have what looks to be a pretty great buck coming up!
Oh my gosh! So excited to see some new bloodlines in the herd!! I LOVE the choice of babies you decided to keep! I will miss seeing the other goats though..
Watching you guys progress is so cool! From going from just having goats as a hobby to all this amazing new Information, breeding and competitions is just amazing! You guys are so amazing and I absolutely loveeee all the videos, a mix of information, cuteness and a lot of bitter sweetness ♥️ Love you guys!
aww, I'll miss shy tatum and sweet zorro! I'm confident you've chosen amazing farms for all of them. I find it amusing that for several years though, you were addicted to raising up Tilly's doelings, and now you seem to be unable to let go of any of Daphne's xD how tastes change over time, lol

I wonder how many babies the next mama does will give, then there will be MORE choices to make on that batch of kiddos 😂❤
I am so happy that Hazel is going back home to her original owners 😊😊
I'm so happy you kept the lovely moonspot covered doe and Shania has got to be the sweetest doe ever, can't wait to see the first freshners babies
The whole lancelot series has a special place in my heart. I am excited for him!
Congrats on your online course! Your committment to your herd is admirable and your enthusiasm is contagious! Plus, you have the cutest baby goats!
I don't know much about goats but you have given me a lot of knowledge about them. I think your doing a great job on your goats. Your learning and experiences have made you a great goats owner in many ways. I think your on the money. 👍🥰🇨🇦
im happy that you keep both the daphne's babies...😊😊😊
I would have loved to see aspen stay but you guys know what your doing so looking forward to seeing the others grow up !
Im so happy your going to raise up Shaina as that was one of the names i picked for her. So its going to be cool to watch her grow up.
He will no doubt make beautiful babies with any of the girls he will be bred with but I'll look forward to seeing if Lola makes the cut to be a definite keeper.
i really like your decisions, i love lola a lot i’m glad we get to see her grow out and i’m super excited about lancelot
Omg I'm so happy I was hoping Lola would stay ❤
Me too, so happy they decided to raise her up
That’s the problem with raising any herd animal if you breed your animals… which is required for milk production…you simply cannot keep every baby born.😕
That fact is actually why many farmers try really hard to not form attachments to any of their livestock.
Lancelot is going to be great! I just love the markings. I bet the book work is horrendous which I am sure you use a computer.❤❤
Cedar is probably my favorite colour of all the goats you’ve had. Hopefully we can see grown up pics of some of the kids later on!
I thought so too! Here's to hoping we get to photos of her when she's older 🤞
Thanks!!
SO EXCITED about your course!! You’re absolutely my favorite ND goat teacher. 💕👏👏
The colors from those babies are just awesome and lovely! I know that does not mean great genetics, but in a way my heart hopes it does ❤😂
Lola has really unique colour combinations.... Good choice to keep her in the farm.... ❤
Best of luck with your online course.....it sounds great!
Very excited that you are keeping Lola. Such beautiful flashy markings! Hope she and the other doelings prove themselves in the coming year.
I love the fact you’re doing this for the herd without attachments holding you back
Of all the current kids, Lola is by far my favorite.
I am so happy you are keeping Lola! She is my favorite!!!!!
So many factors .. so much investment in time and money! Best of luck guys! Love the videos! God Bless!
Very nice that you offer this teaching course. It would be a great learning time for someone who is starting to raise goats. Lovely.👍👍
I have to say I’m very excited! I agree I probably would’ve kept One of Hazels baby’s I happy!
You and Kevin have learned so much and done so well with your Herd !
Food Luck Lancelot 😊.
Happy Spring 💐

Excited about the new bloodlines. Lancelot sounds like, if he throws well, an amazing edition to your herd!
New animals and changes are always necessary on a farm and it’s wonderful that they are all going to new homes …… not just being auctioned off 😊
Thank you for this update. I would not know where to begin to choose who stays and who goes but I trust your judgement. You seem to know exactly what you’re doing and I’m happy that you will be sharing your experience in your new course. I’m anxious to see how the changes work out over the next few years. ❤️🐐
Awesome job on creating your course!!! How cool!!
I'm so excited for the juniors to give birth! And Lola is so pretty with all those moon spots so I can't wait to see how she grows
I think you're taking a very professional, realistic approach. Great job! Part of raising animals on a small acerage is management.
Oh my gosh! So excited to see some new bloodlines in the herd!! I LOVE the choice of babies you decided to keep! I will miss seeing the other goats though..
Watching you guys progress is so cool! From going from just having goats as a hobby to all this amazing new Information, breeding and competitions is just amazing!
You guys are so amazing and I absolutely loveeee all the videos, a mix of information, cuteness and a lot of bitter sweetness ♥️
Love you guys!
aww, I'll miss shy tatum and sweet zorro! I'm confident you've chosen amazing farms for all of them.
I find it amusing that for several years though, you were addicted to raising up Tilly's doelings, and now you seem to be unable to let go of any of Daphne's xD how tastes change over time, lol
All of the baby goats this year have gorgeous, flashy colors!! I love them all!
