Tatum makes me laugh so much! The way she head-butted Wynonna when she fell off of the chair, and then looked up on the milking stand at her own daughter as if to say "now *there's* my precious princess". Haha! I've been enjoying being able to watch her mother her two beautiful babies. She's very protective, definitely a helicopter mom, and she seems to prefer to keep them in a nice secluded spot away from the rest of the peasants. But the little ones just want to play with their friends so she ends up following along and being the park police, making sure nobody gets out of line, while keeping an eye on her own two sweet little angels. I love it!
By the way, I fully understand that you're making thoughtful, strategic changes to your farm and raising your breeding standards even more to improve your herd. But some goats, although precious and perfect in their own way, just don't quite make that particular mark that you're reaching for. Tatum will be missed though. She looked like a little baby deer when she was born with those moon spots. She was such a cutie! But I know you will find her a good home where she can relax, graze, have friends, enjoy life, and give the occasional head-butt to a baby goat that just might come too close. And not have to go through the pains of labor anymore will be a plus, even though she seems to be a really good mama. I'm excited to see what's to come on your farm and I can't wait to see the babies that are going to be born soon! I think the babies you have this year are by far the prettiest I've ever seen! It's a joy to watch them jump and play and learn how to socialize and get along without a care in the world!

Hi Danelle, I think because Kevin is such a wiz when it comes to designing and building his crafts , the 2nd option of making a rack to hold the bottles would be perfect . This could also be used when you have future kids as Kevin’ s crafts are always sturdy and you will get quiet a lot of use out of the rack . Cheers from Kylie in Australia 🇦🇺

I have never seen a baby goat with markings like little Steel Magnolias! Her coat is like a patchwork quilt, and the countless moon spots are stunning! Her coloring as well is beautiful. She's not just black and white, she has softer colors like silver and brown too. I'm so hoping you keep her and raise her up to see if she has potential. Maybe she'll have Finick's genes and have a beautiful, well-attached udder and no tiny Tilly teats. She is just a showstopper and I would love to watch her grow up and see what she will become. She's a stunning little doeling! So flashy! I can't even begin to imagine what her babies would look like! You have a lot of difficult decisions to make but I know you'll make the best ones for your herd.
PS- I had a sweet (and beautiful) childhood friend named Nola and I think that nickname might suit this little doeling better than Lola since her name is Steel Mag-NOL-ias. Just a tiny suggestion in case you hadn't thought of it. I love you guys so much! Thank you for sharing your adorable farm with us. I've been very sick and in the hospital, so watching videos of your beautiful and peaceful backyard farm puts a little bit of happy in my days and helps me to de-stress. Take care and enjoy all of those sweet babies before the next batch comes along!

A little part of my heart breaks thinking about the tilly line being cut from the herd, but I know it would be for the best considering that they can't keep up with their milk production. It would still be nice to see how Raven and Lola grow just because their fathers could help improve their milk production and udders, and Lola is probably the most gorgeous doe I've ever seen. She'd probably make gorgeous babies too! I hope Raven and Lola improve the tilly lines milk supply!

You know, it's a genuine bummer about Tatum - I loved her from the second she set foot on the ground, and if I could find a way to get to Arizona I'd take her in in a heartbeat - but when you're trying to improve the breed you gotta do what you gotta do. No blames here, even from baby girl's maybe #1 fan. Lola's hers, right? I'd advocate for keeping that one, but maybe I'm a little biased 😂Can I say though??? Hazel's udder??? It's looking SO MUCH nicer this year holy moly? Like- I remember having a pretty wincing reaction to it last year, despite her lovely body, but dang girl!! She blossomed! And Daphne too of course 😍
I can't wait to see all the little girls' udders! Aaaa!

It's too bad she's not meeting your expectations, however I'm also proud that you are making these decisions with a clear mind. It's really hard to figure out dairy goats especially when they have a fairly good genetics. When we get back into goats I think I'm going to see if I can find goats from our original goats. While the Nubians were noisy they did make excellent milk.

One tip I have for you is to start touching the udders on the babies as soon as they are friendly, I've done that with some cows that I'm raising and they stopped freaking out about it pretty quickly. Now they couldn't care less about having their udders touched, it really helps to prevent kicking and dancing when the time comes for their freshening, saves a lot of trouble (and milk)!

Wanted to jump on to say something! I have watched some of your videos and have looked closely at your does. As someone who is very familiar with the ADGA scorecard Tatum has not only the best general appearance in your herd but the highest rear udder with the most correct udder floor, teat placement, and fore udder extension. You emphasize production but I think making structurally correct does your foundations is more important IMHO. Production with a really a really strong buck can improve in a generation or 2. If you do sell her it should certainly not be to a pet home but a show one. She would be a great starting point for someone looking to get into competitive Nigerians. I say with certainly that she is your most correct doe despite her mediocre production. With a 14-18 hr fill I think she would be really competitive. Cheers!

Just watching your babies play at the end was so lovely and some of the markings are absolutely beautiful... I do like the lighter ones which I think is Hazel s little one and the one with the beautiful moon spots... I could watch them all day x x

I love and miss Tatum 😢 so much but I love hazel and Daphne udder that look amazing and I remember that Tilly is staying on the farm after she retired. I actually name my Guinea pig after Stella because I loved Stella when u had her🥺
