Hi Josh and family. Looking good Josh hope your feeling so much better after your fantastic news and recovered well after your surgery. Great result from the goat auction. Result lots of hay to see you through winter. Have a great weekend take care and God Bless. 🙏💕🐐
That’s good your travelling and your sale went well and you made good money to enable you to pay for your hay for the winter…they wer a good looking bunch of goats…you look after your goats well they wer a beautiful bunch of kids and nannies …😊
Glad that the sale went well for Y'all. That's proof that Y'all take good care of your animals. Looks like you're doing well. Prayers for continued healing. GOD bless Y'all.
Hope your recovery is going great, you look good. The goats brought you the right price, that’s all you can ask for. Take care , prayers for you, your family 🙏❤️🙏☀️😊
So glad you and Uncle Joe did so well!!! Glad to see you out and a bout Josh!!!!! It's almost time to put the billy in!!!!! This time next year we will have our first KIKO kids, can't wait!!!!!
Hope I'm still on the list for a doeling or 2. And now, I'm realizing, I should have been more proactive and looked for a good buckling too. I'm being told that having a backup buck is a good thing to do. Ah, well, next year. I'm still trying to build a decent doe herd. Lost 2 to a feral dog pack, one of the ones I bought from a good farm has turned out to have some bad genetics (horrible feet, thrifty), and I got taken on another and she obviously has some pygmy goat in her as she's tiny. ::sigh:: I have 5 bucklings to sell right now, 3 from my best doe and 2 that are from the first billy I got, who turned out to also have some pygmy in him as the bucklings are also tiny. I'm learning, but it's getting to be an expensive class.
Farming animals is not for the weak of heart that is for sure.. And although it is hard to admit sometimes farmers always gotta be looking at that bottom line just like every other business. God Bless you and your family.
I have never raised goats and am pretty ignorant, but just looking at your goats and visually comparing them to others I've seen, yours just look better. Their stance is regal, proportions look great, and they really stand out to me. Glad you had a good sale, your health is good and you're getting back on track! Texas Deb ❤️
I really enjoyed this glimpse into the goat 🐐 business. I love to learn about different farm industries I've not had any experience with before. WOW! So many goats. I'm glad you met your goal of sales profit sufficient enough to cover hay cost. It's also great to see you looking so refreshed. What became of the LGD Puppy you once showed? Did he work out?
I bought a pygmy billy from an auction, he was about three-ish months old. He had a blue tag in his ear that i thought was just an id tag until i got a look at the inside of the ear and it said meat. Anyways he is a pet now. A handfull at times but i love him, he knows his name and usully comes when i call.
What state? Those kids looked great, I need some for my starter herd in alabama. Wanted kiko and/ or Spanish. I’ll continue to follow for the 2024 season.
$260.00 - $300.00 per goat Or $2.60lb - $3.00lb I've been thinking a lot on raising meat goats to sale. Not sure on breed yet. Was leaning towards bora or Spanish goats. Maybe both kept in separate pastures of course. I own a 195caer farm that atbthe moment only has wildlife running about. There's a lot of brush that needs cleaning and I know the goats would do a great job on that
We got 2.60 - 3.00 $ a pound. We just sold some the other day & they brought $3 a pound. We sell ours at weaning age 90-100 days old. With that much land you could run a lot of goats. We use kikos because of their hardness & getting kids to market. Thanks for watching anymore questions or if I can help out. Message me on my Facebook page.
Can goats eat rhododendron bushes, and what goats would you recommend for me to start with? I have a garden of 70ft x 70ft and I want to start with 2 milking goats. I am then going to build a head of abuse 30/40 for milking, cheese, whey, and soap production. I also want to use the herd for land clearance. I'm new to farming but I think the land clearance will become a big part of local governments recommendation policy for environmentally friendly land usage in the UK 🇬🇧 😅
I say Kiko we have had the most success with them from commercial to registered. We have had great success with our Kiko’s clearing our land. Thanks for watching
Great information. I watched a few of your videos a while back, and now just started watching again. We live here in Northeast TX and have goats, KuneKune pigs, chickens ans Quail. We started with an adopted Boer wether and got him a couple Nigerian Dwarf companions. We wanted dairy gots to have our own milk supply. Since then we have added some ND / Pygmy mix goats. What kind of goats can be sold for meat? Our plan is to hopefully profit more from the KuneKune pigs and Quail. I think we can make a bit from the goats too. Do the goats need to be registered in prder to sell at Sale Barns?
@BoisDArcKikos What about mix breeds? Do you ever wait until they are full-grown (bucks)? What is considered market weight? Do you know of any places that take pigs, too?
I’m curious… is there a registry in the US for Kikos’? How long have you been raising Kikos’? Have you ever crossbred any with other breeds? Nice video. Enjoyed it very much. 👍🥰
Hi. love your channel. Someday I want to raise meat goat. I live in Colorado. Do you have a merchandise store. I have been praying for you and your family
Where did you sell the goats? I have a couple who need to be culled and would like to start getting a little money back on them! Lost who knows how many kids I lost in January - unfortunately, my LGD became very destructive and had to be put down. My border collie is a better goat and hen guardian than the 3 yr old LGD was!
We sold them at Bowie. Cull Nannie’s I think would bring more in Gainesville or Emory sale barn. I hate to hear that about your Goats. We have had to do the same with LGD that didn’t work out.
@@BoisDArcKikos I hate to hear that on the cull nannies at Bowie, but thanks for the heads up about Gainesville. It's closer anyway. Sounds like you did well on the kids. GREAT!
@Bois D’ Arc Kiko Goats Thanks for the info. I'm sorry that you had the same problem with an LGD - comforting to me to know I'm not the only person to get a bad LGD.
My issue with selling animals is I get attached like a mf. lol. Even my meat cows. Ik they are for meat purposes but since I raised the damn things I feel so bad but so grateful.
Been farming my whole life. Livestock is a great way for others to make money. Everyone gets paid but you. If you’re going to do livestock don’t keep track of your cost. I’ve heard it all, drop off 50 goats and they were a little too heavy. Or there a little lite. Or there’s to many goats in the market. What you going to do go back home and unload? No way and they know it. They set the price, that’s the problem . Farmer buy everything retail and sell everything wholesale.
I thank God for hearing so many prayers that have been answered for your health. God Bless you and your family 🙏🙏💕💕
Awesome that the kids brought the money to feed the herd this winter. Your looking stronger Josh God is good.
Love seing you feeling better and back to doing what you love.

No registration required to sell at a sale barn. Yes goats can be profitable. Kiko Spanish Boer savanna mytonic are all meat goat breeds.
@BoisDArcKikos What about mix breeds? Do you ever wait until they are full-grown (bucks)? What is considered market weight? Do you know of any places that take pigs, too?
Very informative and well done video and I got the 1000th like so that’s cool.
Thank you we appreciate you watching
I hear that bowe sale barn was good to far me. 😢 clean place
Yes it was good to us and a great sale experience.
Make sure u check Wheel bearings. When u check on the goats when u stop!! Be sure they r cool
nice
The herd was a total cull or were there some that could be added to a new herd?
The Nannie’s were culls and I wouldn’t let them go to another farm.
Can I ask a question what are those things under there chin? Thanks
They are waddles some Kikos have them & some don’t.
Thanks for watching

I’m curious… is there a registry in the US for Kikos’?
How long have you been raising Kikos’?
Have you ever crossbred any with other breeds?
Nice video. Enjoyed it very much. 👍🥰
Kiko would cross well with anything!
We use national Kiko registry

Hey man nice setup. I am looking to build my own Goat business. I liked your channel
Thank you we appreciate it
Love the videos, we have boer goats and may switch to kiko, what age you sell your kids? Do you ever band any kids to sell at market?
Thank you. We sell at 3-4 months old. I have done it both ways & it seems to be the same either way.
When do you need to supplement with feed? Weaning and winter?
Yes that’s what we do

May ask. Who are the consumers of goat meat in the USA.
Is it a meat used in your average house hold?
Or is it a speciality used in Restaurants?
It’s used in household across the USA mostly ethnic groups eat it as their #1 meat. We eat it at our house and it’s good for you.

Did you make $10,000 profit or was the total transaction $10,000? Also how much land do you need? I hear you need at least 1 acre per 6 goats.
Yes we made 10k profit. Yes you can run around 6 to 7 hd per acre on our land. We have plenty of grazing.
My issue with selling animals is I get attached like a mf. lol. Even my meat cows. Ik they are for meat purposes but since I raised the damn things I feel so bad but so grateful.
I agree it can be hard.
At what age do you breed goats for the first time?
We breed at 18mon the old so when they kid they are almost 2 more mature and grown to handle a kid.
