- Houston restaurant Turkey Leg Hut is faced with a nearly $1.3 million lawsuit from US Foods that claims the restaurant hasn't been paying their food vendors. FOX 26's Matthew Seedorff has more details on the story and asks customers their thoughts on the allegations.

What's the purpose of asking random people on the street about a lawsuit that doesn't involve them?
They want to show all the idiots who eat that turkey leg
How did US Foods allow the bill to even get that high before they just stop delivering. Something doesn't sound right.
Contracts. US foods is a nation wide distribution company who brings in billions a year. I PROMISE $1.3 million is a drop in the bucket to a corporation like this, but at some point their investments will be protected once a red flag is finally noticed within its limitations. Now in this case, TLH very well may have thought that their small contract may have been small enough to fly under the radar, but major corporations don’t succeed because they’re stupid. Plus a lawsuit is really not worth filing to a corporation like this, unless it builds ample value..
Asking them upfront would probably have been racist as well. It'd racist to anything to the black community and yall know it

There's one thing for sure in here and that is at that food supplier has a PR firm working on their behalf, as others have said there is no way in hell that a food supplier is going to let you get that far in the whole before they shut you off, it don't matter whether you're black white Puerto Rican or Asian they going to cut your ass off as soon as you miss a payment. The best way to motivate you to pay your bills is for that truck to not show up as soon as you don't pay a payment.
That might not be that easy just to cut him off like that because lawsuits take forever and if you don't have the truck pull up your thinking how is he going to give me my money if he has no product so it's a catch 22.

I was in the food service business 15 yrs and grocery distribution for 16 yrs and as it was said there's no way in hell that bill would get too that amount with out legal action
@@luggerphilippe8409 Food service and liquor stores. 2 industries you pay at the time of receipt of product or on a net 14 invoice. They don’t allow you to get a million dollars worth of inventory because there will be nothing to come back to get. 30/60/90 days is one thing but food service is a 15-20% ROI. So truth be told somebody been stealing from US foods. You get get behind you will never get back without and influx of cash.

lynns_garage claims that their business tax is $100K a month, and payroll is $85K a week. Claims that they never missed a beat, whatever that means. Also claims that there are 3 sides to every story. With numbers like that, $1.3 million for produce could easily add up within 90 days. Especially if you have an established business, with good credit, and a monthly billing cycle with terms.
That's why, you don't run a business on credit.

TLH have been the targets of an organized effort of multiple frivolous lawsuits throughout the years. The latest lawsuit I heard about actually blew their own cover when a file leaked stating that the lawsuits' purpose was only to get rid of the TLH but "obviously we can't state that". The leak of that document lost those colonizing gentrifiers their case.
Not unusual I worked in a restaurant or two and had to lie to the vendors and say the owner wasn't there when they came looking for money . One place I worked I made the owner pay me in cash every night after my first paycheck bounced.
Part of the reason I don't wanna own a business unless I have the money to pay my people and bills hate being in debt

I do accounts payable and ain’t no way US Foods will let your account go unpaid to accumulate that amount. After 30 days your account representative will notify you. If payment is not resolved, then they will put a freeze on your account until they receive payment.
If it is a tax issue as they are saying, then Turkey Hut should have submitted a tax exempt for their business, but this applies only to food. All none food items are taxable. This some fishy 💩🤷🏾♀️

The sales person who has that account, will either double up on the delivery, weekly or bi-weekly in order to satisfy the customers demand. This goes for a y business...not just a so-called minority business.

You really need to get your head of the local market my man. US Foods in 2022, US Foods made on average 24 million per day. Literally, everything the Turkey Hut owes can be made in four hours of US Foods running.

US Foods = They owe us 1 of 8,900 parts of our profit. Give them a couple of months and then proceed with legal actions. Settle for the cost of food and don't sale to them again.

I've seen food companies let accounts receivable get way outside of their terms and not worry too much since the customer has always paid up.
I don't know any of the particulars, and I'm not saying that's what had happened. But sometimes it can happen.

I'm pretty sure lots of restaurants do it but the reality is that bills are due. The cost of everything is up and that means it costs more to move goods and produce across the country. More companies will suffer as the recession takes hold.

I figured it out. These are promotion schemes. The lady of turkey hut worked for an attourney or something like that. 3years ago ot was lawsuit to shut down. Now a million dollar lawsuit, but it is not picking up steam like before. $500 to file in claims court vs paying advertisement fee. They cant comment in on going litigation but was very opinionated about the shut down litigation

that's a 2 way street though - if i'm the owner and i own TLH - and they would have entered into a contractual agreement - if USF didn't or wrongly applied credits for cooperative $'s which is driven out of what would be their marketing funds or MDF% on volume purchased - then TLH has a legit claim here. more information is needed. watch teh end of this clip where they show the tweet and that's kinda what it sounds like - like there are some large credits they believe should be in place and USF hasn't entered them or isn't recognizing them or has decided they're just not paying...

Dummies misunderstanding. It's the INTEREST that originated from the $84,000 bill listed earlier in the suit. They haven't paid for so long that the interest ran up to over a million. So yes it's the owner's fault.

LOL all Turkey Leg Hut has to do is produce bank statements and other accounting records showing invoices were paid to that particular vendor. Case closed. It's not what you think, it's what you can prove.

US Foods lawyers are asking for 1.2 million dollars. They'll probably settle out of court for 500k. Let this be a lesson to all you up and coming small businesses. If you're not willing to stay ON TOP of paying vendors, pay somebody to stay ON TOP of paying vendors. You will destroy business relationships and eventually you'll be out of business. Once your name and credit is bad, it's hard to overcome the damage, even if the product is great.

Bro food company make contracts with restaurants to supply them with ingredients, if the food company stop sending merchandise to the restaurant, the restaurant can sue the food company even if the restaurant owes money to the food company, so food company always gonna win.

Prices the same? Man their prices were always high. The food is well worth the price, but it's not cheap.
i have a small cafe but im doing my own shopping for produce and products, its easy to get behind on bills if you skip a few payments due to slow days or loss of inventory especially if you have an high overhead 85K a week is a very high overhead price tag which equates to 4.2 million annually to operate , i dont know we gotta see who telling the truth.
Restaurants with "mid" food and great business management will last longer and be more successful than restaurants with great food and poor business management.
