I'm a relative new comer to your site - discovered you about 3 months ago. Since then your channel has been on regular rotation. What comes across clear to me is your passion for hard music, which is what continues to drive me back to your channel. Keep up the great work!
BTW - I just looked at the website. Since the feedback option doesn't seem to be working, I'll provide same here. I would suggest that links to the specific albums (You Tube, Bandcamp, Soundscan, etc.) be included in the reviews. Nothing better than listening to the music while reading about it to determine if it 'makes your list'! Take care.
@@themightydecibel-heavymeta7130 We generally do Chris- all of the reviews have links at the bottom to either their Facebook, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, or regular website.
Pete, I love your channel I appreciate you being yourself and being such a music person. Your ranking the studio albums are definitely one of my favorites thank you for everything love your channel and videos your an amazing person personally and musically!😁❤️
Your passion for music is obvious and you know what you´re talking about. Have learned a lot and discovered a lot of new music, so keep up the good work, it´s well appreciated.
The first video I ever watched from you was the History of Whitesnake video. I've gotten into so many lesser-known bands from the classic rock era because of this channel. Keep up the good work my friend!!!
I lucked into discovering Sea of Tranquility on UA-cam. It is so GREAT to listen to like-minded music fans who know about all the stuff I missed! I have eclectic tastes, but this channel is filling in my knowledge gaps and I love it! Going to POWER TRIP in Oct 2023, and your discussions & album rundowns have been very helpful. I haven't followed Heavy Metal since DP, Sabbath, & Zeppelin since the 70s. Now I'm listening to Metallica, Maiden, Priest, Dio/Rainbow, BOC... THANKS for laying out the crumbs to follow!!!
It's always great hearing your stories. I almost feel like I'm sitting down with you with some hoagies and some beers, Pete. I never saw your dog but have heard him many times. I like him, too.
Thanks for doing all of this, Pete. It's been so much fun to watch this channel, and honestly, it's been incredibly helpful for me on an emotional level as well having these wonderful videos to watch while trying to cope with the stress of the COVID pandemic, etc.
Great video! Glad for listen your history around music and the channel. I must say that your show helped me so much finding bands and records that, if wasn’t your channel, I would never stand for. Thank you, mister Pardo! Keep it going. For the music you (and we all) love

Love your story, I'm a tad younger, having been born in 1970. Yes, the Who, Fleetwood Mac, and Led Zeppelin were played by my older sister daily. Then my older brother brings home Black Sabbath, "We Sold our Soul for Rock and Roll", Blizzard of Oz and Ted Nugent. I remember being 8 or 9 opening up the that aforementioned Black Sabbath album seeing the corpse on the casket, then hearing those bells toll thinking "holy shit , wtf is this ?? It so heavy and evil sounding, blew my young mind, thought it was awesome.
I’ve become a huge fan of your channel over the past month. Great community on here too. Keep it going and I’m looking forward to seeing how it evolves in the future.
I think KISS hooked a lot of us.Turned me from 45's to rock albums.Quickly discovered Aerosmth Toys,Rocks and the first Boston album and then it was like discovering buried treasure!
BIG thanks for the BIO. Most interesting. Love your channel. I am 58 and I still find new (old) music to listen to and many are tips from you. Keep it up Pete. Cheers!!
Keep up the good work Pete. I enjoy watching your channel and like you grew up listening to music. I started listening in the 70s and was employed for several years for a record store chain. I had the opportunity to listen to everything and would often go home with many of the promotional albums sent by the record companies because the record store would not keep them. Eventually I moved on to better things but music has always been a passion. Keep the videos coming so that the discussion never ends.
Love the channel Pete! I discovered it a few months ago through the History of Deep Purple video and have been hooked since. I love rock and metal, and I this channel is a gold mine of coverage for both classic and new bands. This is the best music review channel on UA-cam, and I really hope to see it grow.
Hey Pete! I recently found your channel and can't stop listening to your Ranking videos.Im addicted! I just watched your origins video and realized that we have a lot in common. I am also 54 and am from Goshen and Middletown and got my deep love of music because of KISS. Thanks for doing this. It really has reinvigorated my love for music.
Pete you are the coolest. I love your show. I’ve subscribed and watch it every day. Thank you! My son is a journalism major in college and I could see him doing something like this.
Fascinating journey, Pete. The best part of the whole current deal is the reason(s) you're doing it and that's getting the word out there about the bands and their music.
Love what you do Pete. Fascinating to hear your story. Myself i had a similar childhood, born in the late 1950ths, loved comic books e.g Spiderman, Superman, Batman and listened to pop music. 1973 i first heard Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Deep Purples Burn and that changed my life. 1976 a friend introduced me to RUSH (2112 and Caress of Steel) and i am a die hard fan since then. Keep doing what you doing/Greetings from Sweden
Wow! Congrats! Wish you lot of success! I quickly became a fan of you shows, that take me back to the 70s/80s, when I discovered the prog rock. And I'm a 59 fan till today.
Found this video right after watching Pete's 50 K subscribers announcement, December 2020. Wow, such growth... Classic example of a simple, no-frills channel that just gives the audience what they want.
New to your channel Pete. I'm also 53 so much of your story parallels my own. Growing up I was the oldest of two boys and noticed my friends with older siblings had albums I had never heard of. Loved hanging out at their houses and thumbing through their older siblings record collections. Was introduced to UFO, Scorpions, Deep Purple, Rainbow etc. Cheers!!
I found your channel last Friday the day we all were crushed with the news of The Professor, Neil Peart's passing I was in shock and looking for any news i could find after getting notified by Rick Beatos channel on a live broadcast... The news ..just destroyed me..I had just ordered Ghost rider the day he passed and it arrived on Thursday I started it that night and fell asleep wondering how I could possibly find him in Sta. Monica and get him to autograph it.... I cried with you listening to you share how much Neil's loss meant...to all of us in th circle.... Thank you for that post Today I decided to check this origins video out and so much of your early days of personal musical taste development specifically the Looking Glass reference ;-). that hit me.. I had that 45 and played it to death, was secretly in love with a girl named Brandy who lived around the corner....lol Interesting how our musical taste develop once we break free of our parents influence and limited exposure... Like you pop was it for me til about 13 or 1973 when I began to find my own music...from 10 on it was the basically the Jackson 5, and Michael Jackson's early solo music and then I found Kiss,. The 1st album I bought with my own money, Love Gun....it steamrolled from there...... The last 40 years has expanded my musical tastes but thru it all RUSH was a constant...never stopped listening and loving that magic and those guys it was so awesome to see them not fall prey to the usual crap of excess, ego, addictions, that take our heroes from us way too soon and just keep kicking ass I didn't keep up with the later work like the 1st 10-12 albums...but those seminal albums from the mid 70s to the 90s were so phenomenal I never stopped.. my last show was the R30 tour,. Missed the R40 tour and it will never not hurt... Thanks again for posting that heartfelt emotional acknowledgement of this incredible loss to so many of us you have gained a new subscriber. Godspeed Neil Peart prayers and love to his family...
This was cool to go back and watch. I've only been watching a year or so but never put thought into how all this got started. Also never seen Pete get irritated but definitely has reason. Even if you didn't have a job what's that anyone's business. It has nothing to do with the subject of this channel and you and everyone involved do a freaking awesome job!
Love your channel, Pete. I've been viewing for about eight months and often delve into the archives as well as watching new posts, where I've discovered everything from obscure Italian prog to giants like Deep Purple (bands that for no particular reason I'd missed out on before), so thank you. As a musician in two bands, I very much appreciate what you said about the idea of supporting lesser known bands, so if you ever get the time, my channel is were we host all our music. Thanks again, Ian (of Tractor Countdown and The Mystic Wizards).
I've definitely been learning a few things from your very informative channel for the last 8 months. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to hearing your top 10 Status Quo songs.
I think its very refreshing to see someone that's from my era and likes all the music that I love and grew up with.....I can totally associate with you on the metal head era as I was one too...I still am I just don't wear it out anymore. For me it started in 1975 and I never looked back. My Wife is astonished that I can name the band and the song on the first couple notes on metal or hard rock music from 1980-1990+ I believe that to be the best decade ever as there were just so many great bands and songs from that era. Don't let that guy get under your skin......you have people out here that appreciate what you do....it just brings back so many great memories of those times and all of the concerts I went to..... I seen Metallica, Armored Saint, and Waspa triple bill at L'aMours in Brooklyn just before all of them hit the scene that's the music I love!
Pete, I'm sure that you won't see (or care) about this comment, but that was the best video that I've seen you do. I don't like half of the bands that you talk about, but I love the channel. It's rare that I do this, but you're getting a 'like' and a 'subscribe'. Keep doing what you're doing, my man.
Great to hear your story. I came for Prog but stayed for all the other music. Glad to see you've added so many subscribers since this you made this one. Well deserved for your enjoyable content.
I have to say you are BRAVE, music business within the mp3 piracy era (late 90s-2008ish) was a very very bad time.for the music industry. The vinyl revival, expansive music media connectivity/accessibility and genuine passion and demand has really fuelled the industry in a positive way. People are now paying for music again due to the many various forms they can access it and it turn there are ok studio budgets i.e better content. I was a university sound and audio engineering institute and all I could see was studios shutting down, selling gear and people stealing and illegally duplicating/sharing music. Was a scary time
Love your work Pete, really appreciate your hard work and tapping into your vast knowledge of music. I learn something every tine I watch the Q & A show.
Great channel & always great content. Look forward to all your videos and your thoughts. I too would like to see some early photos of the young Mr. Pardo rocking out! Spreading the word of great music sounds like one of the best things you can do with your "free time". Thanks so much for sharing your story.
Startling how similar your story is to mine! I’m 52, grew up in Boston on a steady diet of AM radio. Mid 70s - my older brother traded me his copy of Destroyer for a poster I had of a bald eagle. I was immediately hooked. My allowance went towards 45s and albums, whenever I could afford them. Anyway, your posts are always entertaining and I can’t thank you enough for the time and effort you put into them! Cheers!
Well I love your channel Pete, I am one of those who has discovered and subscribed to your channel in recent months, back in November. I watch all new videos and have since then plus found myself going through the very old videos from years back. Only wish I’d discovered your channel much earlier. I too have quite an extensive knowledge of rock music and been buying CDs and going to gigs for well over 20 years, been a music fan since a kid in the 80s. I get music magazines but have found that dedicated UA-cam channels are the way forward, and a great way of binding the rock music community. There are many of us out there, old and young and from all backgrounds and I applaud you for your dedication and commitment, To do something like this as a labour of love if highly commendable. I confess to being more interested in old legendary bands, but have found myself getting into many young or unknown bands, especially those you listed in the underground heavy rock video. Magazines like Classic Rock are very good, but like you say £10 for a magazine is a bit steep, getting all your news, reviews and what’s hot from UA-cam is the way forward. So much more accessible and there are so many possibilities for live streams and interviews, that I really think you are into something revolutionary. The power and influence of someone on UA-cam informing one of what is out there can’t be underestimated in my view. Your tastes are identical to mine, I’m 12 years younger and 3200 miles away in Scotland, but like many other subscribers and viewers that gap is being bridged by what you do.
Great channel Pete! Love your passion for great music and eclectic taste. I watch your video's a lot and learn a lot from you. Found some great stuff because of you and gave a few bands another chance because of you. I've been doing playlists for years. Keep em in notebooks. Before that i was always making compilations for people. So imagine my excitement when i found this channel! It was like finding a long lost brother!!! Cheers to you and yours!
Pete, for me, you are the antidote to decades of crappy journalism about Prog. We all know most critics just endlessly parroted the same boring and frankly lazy take on prog. You are unabashedly enthusiastic and when you are critical it is not because you are robotically following whatever hip aesthetic the critics are all slaves to. love the channel. And to hell with the trolls in the comments.
Good to see you mentioned the most underrated prog band IQ yes IQ....Pete you have made my DAY, MONTH, YEAR, MILLENLIUM.. been following this band since the late 80s.. Mike Holmes is a GUITAR GOD only a handful of guitar heroes are better than him.
Pete, Last message...I love your Modus Operandi and am a forever a subscriber to the channel...thanks for keeping the Prog alive and well! Cheers, Brent
Thanks so much for the history of SOT. I am always in awe of your encyclopediatic knowledge of so many bands. It really is amazing. Keep up the great work!
Absolutely love your shoe/channel Pete. Been watching the channel for a while now but for some reason I’d never seen this episode (popped up in the feed) and found it so interesting. I always love the stories behind passionate music people and also relate to just wanting to share great music especially bands albums that are lesser known. One of the best channels on UA-cam, no doubt
Hey there! I've been a subscriber for some time, but just came across this video. Listening to your music bio was kind of like looking in a mirror, as I'm just a bit older than you (1964) and my exposure to music was very similar. Along with AM radio, I had 2 teenage aunts who moved in with us when my grandmother passed and they were caught up in the whole British Invasion. I'd listen with them to Beatles, Who, Stones, Kinks, etc. In the 6th grade, my 1st album purchase was Destroyer as well, shortly followed by Welcome to My Nightmare. When I convinced my Mom into letting me join Columbia House, the floodgates opened. Heep, Hawkwind, Robin Trower, I could go on and on. I also started tiring of Kiss around the time of Dynasty. I fell in love with Prog after hearing "I've Seen All Good People" on FM radio. Sorry this is such a long comment, but I was blown away by this video. Keep up the great work, I'll be watching!
I love this channel. Keep up the great work. I love hearing about bands that "nobody's ever heard of." I'd never heard of Cactuses beforehand (I'm guessing we're about the same age) thanks to this channel I now have. The music may have come out in the 70s but, it's new to me...thanks!!! FWIW, I'm sure you've no shortage of programming ideas but, here's one more: how about a show where you talk about cool rock / metal bands that've come out in the last ten years? I just came across Rival Sons less than a year ago and they've been around since, what, 2010 or so. Who else am I missing out on? I love the classics but, I still love discovering new bands. Rock On🤘
I LOVE your channel, and subscribed after watching the first time. I think we may have spoken briefly at NEARfest '09 (my first one, and the single greatest weekend of my life to this day), at one of the vendor stalls. Thanks for all you do.
I enjoyed this video about your beginnings and how your UA-cam channel got started I don't remember how I got started watching your channel in the 1st place but but I mentioned this in comments before I really like some of the bands that I've learned through your channel that I would never found before because they weren't played on your mainstream radio I also really enjoy how you cover the history of different bands I've always enjoyed the old VH1 behind the music But the catalog of stuff they've been able to cover is limited keep up the good work
Thanks Pete for what you do. To heck with the guy that contacts and complains. As you said, he can go somewhere else. By the way, there are still plenty of psych/prog cd's that are out there waiting for you to mention or review. I'm into that era now and I have to say God Bless those guys for trying to give it a go and maybe recording one album then disbanding. They did their best and there was some great eclectic music that is becoming more available.
Great story, Pete. It's always good to hear about bands who don't get the recognition they deserve. Sure there's the mainstream music, but it's the weird and obscure that grabs my attention, and I dig your channel for bringing that to the forefront. And I have to say, your story is very similar to mine (not exactly like it, but very similar). Excellent work, brother, keep up the good work... ☮️
Pete, I LOVE this episode learning of the history for your love of Progressive Music...I am ~10 years younger than yourself (born in June 1976...when KISS 'Destroyer' was released), but I still have a difficulty resonating with KISS 'Alive!'. 'Destroyer' will always be my favorite, but you cannot go wrong with those first 6!? studio albums (KISS, Hotter Than Hell, Dressed To Kill, Destroyer, Rock & Roll Over, Love Gun)...I have a hard time understanding why so many dismiss the KISS legacy... 'Black Diamond' might be my favorite song from that era. Thanks for the videos...keep 'em shorter! Cheers, Brent
I really enjoy listening to your channel; most of the metal bands I know very little about; but some of your choices I sure will revisit; most notably The eagles 'on the border'. Keep up the good work Pete.
Hi Pete - been dipping in and out of your channel for a couple of years and always enjoy the content. I'm from the UK and over here we have a programme called Desert Island Disks where famous (and, sometimes, not so famous) people get interviewed about their life and the music that has been important to them on their journey. So you'd typically end up with about 5 or 6 tracks or LPs that that person would take to a desert island - although how they power a cd or record player is never quite explained! - and then one luxury item they could not live without. For example, the complete works of Shakespeare, solar powered radio etc. In that spirit, could you do a video on the 5 tracks or 5 albums you would take and the one luxury item. That'll get you thinking. Keep the faith.
Started by a chance suggestion video from you on the history of BOC and I immediately gravitate to your opinions on the band and their catalog. Next thing you know I'm watching for two hours on all your history of 70s underground rock /metal videos which is my biggest musical love, then I see you're reviewing Kadavar and Uncle Acid and a personal friend of mine, his band Pale Divine. I love this channel, best thing on UA-cam for me for talking music
Born in ‘66. From Jersey. My dad had a Plymouth Fury too! Did yours sort of float from side to side as you rode around in it- like it would shift on its suspension. I clearly remember him playing AM radio. Anyway, I’m a big Prog and Classic rock fan. Love the channel.
I really respect your dedication over the years. You did it because you loved it and it shows. Bravo to you.

Thank you for that post
Today I decided to check this origins video out and so much of your early days of personal musical taste development specifically the Looking Glass reference ;-). that hit me.. I had that 45 and played it to death, was secretly in love with a girl named Brandy who lived around the corner....lol
Interesting how our musical taste develop once we break free of our parents influence and limited exposure... Like you pop was it for me til about 13 or 1973 when I began to find my own music...from 10 on it was the basically the Jackson 5, and Michael Jackson's early solo music and then I found Kiss,. The 1st album I bought with my own money, Love Gun....it steamrolled from there...... The last 40 years has expanded my musical tastes but thru it all RUSH was a constant...never stopped listening and loving that magic and those guys it was so awesome to see them not fall prey to the usual crap of excess, ego, addictions, that take our heroes from us way too soon and just keep kicking ass
I didn't keep up with the later work like the 1st 10-12 albums...but those seminal albums from the mid 70s to the 90s were so phenomenal I never stopped.. my last show was the R30 tour,. Missed the R40 tour and it will never not hurt...
Thanks again for posting that heartfelt emotional acknowledgement of this incredible loss to so many of us you have gained a new subscriber.
Godspeed Neil Peart prayers and love to his family...
Love your shows. We have some favourite albums in common, it's magic how rock connects people. Cheers from Greece.
Love your channel. Some days when I want to listen to something new, I'll check your videos and go on a deep dive. Thanks, Pete!
Thank YOU, Pete!
Thanks for all the hard work you do.
SOT is one of my favorite channels.
Cheers!
Also - first album I bought was Boston Don’t Look Back, first concert was Kansas in ‘78!
Pete i bought my first album in 1972 at K-Mart. 2,77, Foghats debut
Watching this video when it now has 58K! So awesome! 🤘
Thanks for the passion and hard work!
Pete,
Last message...I love your Modus Operandi and am a forever a subscriber to the channel...thanks for keeping the Prog alive and well!
Cheers,
Brent
Great to hear the history of SoT. Love your channel and glad to hear your're getting at least a little revenue from YT. Kudos!
Really enjoyed your shows the past year Pete 👏
Keep doing this, great work!
It nice to know a big time Rainbow fan as much as myself. You are the Man Pete.
Thanks so much for the history of SOT. I am always in awe of your encyclopediatic knowledge of so many bands. It really is amazing. Keep up the great work!
Great job Pete!!
I was not at the 2009 NF. I attended from 1999-2007.
@@seaoftranquilityprog You missed Van Der Graaf Generator...bummer.
Great Video Pete great history always enjoy watching your Videos and look forward to them Keep em coming
Pete only discovered this year its so awesome 👌
I love what you do, it’s great seeing someone share his knowledge and passion.
👍 tanks for this helpful information
Pete,
I LOVE this episode learning of the history for your love of Progressive Music...I am ~10 years younger than yourself (born in June 1976...when KISS 'Destroyer' was released), but I still have a difficulty resonating with KISS 'Alive!'.
Cheers,
Brent
Love the channel, keep up the good work Pete
Started by a chance suggestion video from you on the history of BOC and I immediately gravitate to your opinions on the band and their catalog. Next thing you know I'm watching for two hours on all your history of 70s underground rock /metal videos which is my biggest musical love, then I see you're reviewing Kadavar and Uncle Acid and a personal friend of mine, his band Pale Divine. I love this channel, best thing on UA-cam for me for talking music
My origins of music...I realized at a young age I could hear different sounds...haha....Rock on Pete!
It’s much appreciated. Thank you.
Thx for what you do Pete.👍
