"Transmitter Carrier Off" for WXL92 (EAS Glitch)

- This has got to be one of the rarest alerts I've ever received. Recently, due to severe thunderstorms, our sister NOAA weather radio station, WXL92, has been undergoing repairs and maintenance for more than a week now. On our main station, WXL60, they advised us that there may be temporary interruptions and/or signal degradation on our sister station (wow, that rhymes!). No harm, no foul. However, at around 2:30 AM this morning, WXL60 toned the listening area with a "Transmitter Carrier Off" advisory. My Midland WR-300 went off as it is set for all county codes, but my Midland WR-120EZ was disabled due to the loud siren alarming our neurotic chihuahua. I jumped out of bed and began scrambling for my camera, but I was too late. Right after the S.A.M.E header and 1050 Hz attention tone, an EOM (End-Of-Message) tone played! This has to be the weirdest EAS I've ever gotten, as they didn't even explain the advisory! Also, it's gotta be WXL92 that went off-air, as I scanned channels 1-7, and it was the only one I couldn't pick up, even though its antenna is in the adjacent city and normally comes in crystal clear. All the other channels had faint signals from surrounding stations. And what do you know? My camera was right next to my WR-300 all along... So much for organization. But hey, it was 2 in the morning and I was not the happiest camper. But anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the video, and apologies in advance for not catching the actual EAS. Comment, rate, and subscribe!
WOW! That's pretty insane!
I know! It's definitely a first for me!
+Christopher Bachand II Us too... We're supposed to get hammered tonight and tomorrow, there's a FFA (Flash Flood Watch) already in effect. 🌊 Stay safe!!
we are under a very dangerous thunderstorm
Hey WXL-57 at des moines Iowa has had this for a month and it was still ok cause we still had alerts but at the End of the Alert is Static
SPCDesMoines3460 I think I heard an alert on Denison's EAS station a couple years ago on Mother's Day
A transmitter carrier off is when the they are experiencing techinnical difficulties or the signal is malfunctioning.
It probably went back on.
Hi I'm new to your channel I'm olso into short wave, ham,cb etc.
Hey, late comment here.
Any backstory behind this? Like any story on why this was issued?
Two people don't appreciate rare alerts. LOL. 🚨
Yea
transmitter carrier off means a malfunction in the broadcast equipment reseted due to a defect
+SPCDesMoines3460 That's interesting! UA-cam won't let me reply directly to your comments for some reason.
You could have the WR120 on display mode instead of voice!
Yeah, but the siren is _just_ loud enough to jumpstart someone from cardiac arrest, so I keep it on "voice"... just in case. You never know. 😉
Wait, what version WR300 is that?
Version 8
No, I actually figured it’s a V5.
VERSION 5 SUCKS!!
Most V5’s don’t have issues. But I have a V8, so IDRK..
lollipop7ification The rarest one I got was a NNM followed by a Transmitter Backup On.
That's awesome!
Notice it was 3am
MINE IS KHB97
