    I had one of the first ones. I play MIDI guitar (Roland GK3 pickup on a standard guitar and so on) so I am familiar with having general issues with adjusting one's playing style or making changes in the software of the synth to get what I want from my playing and the resulting sounds. I had a horrible time with my YouRock Guitar. You guys make it look like it's easy to play and to control. I found that i didn't get any response unless I plucked the "strings" quite hard. And when I did, I got high velocity response from the synthesizer... vibrato or pitch envelopes that I didn't want. But if I played any softer, I got nothing at all. I understand that there are ways to adjust things - velocity curves, "touch" sensitivity... but I was unable to get mine to work well at all. I sold it to a fellow teacher. Hopefully he had better luck with his. I tried the GEN2 at my local Guitar Center (USA) and found the same thing. I am optimistically hopeful for the future of this product line though... interested in seeing and playing, perhaps one day OWNING the Lineage model sometime.

    I got mine from Andertons yesterday and the jury is out. It wouldn't be recognised on USB 3 in Win 7 64 bit, but when swapped to USB 2 socket, it worked fine. This is a common problem with USB 2 devices in USB 3, unfortunately.
    Got it working with Guitar Pro 6.0, but sounded a little plinky plonky - but that's probably more my guitar playing ability :(
    I liked the video, but sad to say that the coolest 'person' on the video was the dog :)
    They are selling fast this week - one a day! Really!

    I've been waiting for a decent midi guitar to hit the market. I like the way this is designed, it has actual strings. I hate Misa's digital guitar designs. I think the midi pitch response could be a little more accurate. The thing I hate about typical midi note pitch response is the way it often falls off the horse during pitch bends, runs and arpeggios.
    The implications here are huge, but we need improved pitch detection to really be expressive with our playing. Logarithmic pitch values just aren't accurate enough. Perhaps a frequency to pitch module would send more precise pitch information to the midi-note circuitry. Just a thought. Perhaps I should go to radio shack and bust out my soldering iron.

    I've been a Guitar Hero/Rock Band player since the beginning, now i "graduated" to Rocksmith and real guitar and bass.
    This is interesting, sure, but i think only from the MIDI tracking/synth tool point of view. As a guitar it sounds wonky and as a controller i don't think it'd feel as it should :P
    On another note, i'd love to see you guys review Rocksmith :)

    Can this interface with vsts like shreddage guitar? Also, will it work in sonar x3? Im curious if it requires its own modules to run the sounds or if it can interact with vsts i use in my cakewalk daw.

    • @YouRockGuitar
      @YouRockGuitar 10 років тому

      Hey Yetzirah Aeonion. When hooked up to your DAW via MIDI cable or USB, It simply sends MIDI signal to the computer. So yes. It does not need any module or software to run, and Sonar x3 will work. Anything a keyboard can play via MIDI, this can as well. I hope this helps!

    Hello. Following the commercials I purchased the YRG2. I could not do anything accomplished as the "controller" was totally uncontrollable.
    I sent the instrument to the shop to have it checked but nothing has changed ... used to be that with the internal sounds with VST external stairs in the execution of many notes are not played, the arpeggios are impossible to perform and are reproduced unwanted notes so confusing. In addition, the sensitivity of the touch of the notes on the keys has worsened considerably and do not appear ligatures nor the strisciatii, despite strenuous attempts to set the many preset commands and parameter editor.
    I note that the video commercials show a sufficient playability of the guitar controller YRG2 used with the internal sounds and the same external VST advertised at my disposal; I therefore think that the controller on the market are not as reliable as those used in commercials and "peck" one equally usable is a lottery. In this spot shows a sufficient controllability with a traditional technique (which should be the norm as it is a guitar), the tool that you are using has been sent from home or you bought?
    good music
    Gianni

  • @digiscream

    I honestly don't understand the logic behind this one...it seems like it's almost identical to the old Stepp MIDI guitars, which bombed badly. The only major differences seem to be that the Stepp had two sets of strings (one in the picking area, and one on the neck) and this has a built in sound bank. Surely a normal MIDI pickup would be a better option for just about anyone?

    Hard to see why it would be better to do what a keyboard does, on a guitar fretboard.
    On the ohter hand, there appears to be 'analogue' output from the guitar jack which can be plugged into ordinary amp - a guitar that will be in perfect tune, never needing adjustment? But I imagine it will be a somewhat incomplete sound, ie no string bending if no strings to bend.

    • @pedebk
      @pedebk 8 років тому +2

      +Ynys Lochtyn Well, as a guitarist you'd be able to play parts you can only play on your guitar(because of comparably limited skills on the keyboard) with a piano sound, to be brute.

    • @hellNo116
      @hellNo116 8 років тому +1

      +Ynys Lochtyn ok the obvious use is to have fun. but also i can see a use if you need keys and you cant find a player.
      edit: i thought of it after i wrote the comment. i can think of a friend that knows to play some guitar but he is more of a composer than a player(naturally good ear) that guy would appreciate such a machine. is it cheating yeah as much as playing keyboard and saying you are playing piano. same thing
