Installing Big Bore kit 395XP

- Howdy guys This morning we gotta install this Big bore kit on Puddin. My saw is a 395xp, it has been through a lot but it's finally gonna get a little love. The only problem is we don't have much time to get this task under control. Everyone is off to the woods and i gotta get my saw fixed and out the door if im gonna keep wood on the ground ahead of the crew

What folks don't seem to grasp is that when every tree you cut is a $20,000 veneer...A Feller will always take his time and drop a fresh jug n piston on before each tree!🌳

for future reference, pulling the jug and carb off in 1 piece, swapping everything to new jug, then reinstalling in 1 piece is easier. applicable for more of the 300 series and earlier huskies... I don't know about the 500s though.
Your guess about the arrow on the piston is correct. It should always point to exhaust :)

Amazing how much things change when one changes oneself. If the chainsaw is working better with the new kit then that's a plus. Gosh those ones waiting to be worked on will be mean machines as Puddin has led the way.

Wade Im not trying to be a smart ass. But you should always put Assembly lube or straight 2 cycle on your wrist pin and piston.And around that ring.Thats why your other didnt last. Penetrating oil isnt a lube it will burn up First time fired. That 2 cycle oil even would of worked better then what your using Bud...Just a suggestion Sir Your a blast to watch Always happy..LOL...

I've ordered one to replace the Black and Decker pivot 6 volt cordless screwdriver I currently have that the power charger went bad and the ratchet was slipping.
It's one of the most common tools I use repairing pinball and arcade games, jukeboxes and pool tables.
I've also used it to repair lots small engines I went to vocational school my junior and senior years of high school.
It seriously speeds up repairs.
I use a regular screwdriver, wrench or socket to break screws,nuts and bolts loose then remove them with the cordless screwdriver.

I been thinking about getting into hot rodding saws but you are discouraging me!! HaHa Leave that jug gasket off and use gas proof high temp rtv and you will gain horsies... It will squeeze down about 10 or 12 thousandths thinner. And yes the arrow always points forward...lol

Snow is melting and water is flowing everywhere. Rivlets are running down the driveway, it is the only ground showing. Went to town today (8mi) and they have no snow at all.

Send one of your chain saws to johns custom chainsaws. That guy can add power and make it like new again. Get your saws fixed right one at a time. He does awesome work wade.

Personally I’d have just put an OEM top end on it if I wasn’t going to port it. A lot of times the aftermarket big bore top ends don’t have the power of OEM unless you port them.

I’d drop that cylinder a thou, thou and a half, ensure squish and clearance ok and just use motoseal gasket maker
