I'm aware that the ambient background noise is a bit loud on some devices. Thank you for struggling through it. It sounded fine on my computer/tv/phone.
Having got back into my toy collection over the last couple of months (I recently fell down the Classified rabbit hole) I’ve been looking forward to this. As always, thanks Dan. You’re enthusiasm is what got me into collecting in he first place and kinda miss the regular toy videos but always look forward to the quarterly count down.
Yes!!! Top ten seasons is my favorite of the year and your list is my number one most anticipated always! Great list! Always fun to hear you talk about anything. Please do a final skeleton list as well!
Seeing the job Hasbro did on Crystar, I'm really hoping they do an independent line of "Hasbro Legends" and give us Rom and Micronauts figures, and then sprinkle some of the connected Marvel owned characters here and there in various Marvel Legends waves. Make it happen, Hasbro!!
Great list. Wonderful figures. I have a similar feel. GI Joe Classified is my favorite of the year. 10: NECA SDCC Alf; 9: Disney Parks Dok Ondar; 8: Cosmic Legions Kraggnar; 7: Marvel Legends BAF Mindless One; 6: Fwoosh Bone Brawler; 5: AWoK Blight; 4: Mattel Hammond Collection T-Rex; 3: Retailer Exclusive Figura Obscura Headless Horseman; 2: Another Figura Obscura in Son Wu-Kong; 1: GI Joe Classified (Snow Job, Retro Snake Eyes, Retro Storm Shadow, Chuckles, Snow Serpent, Helix, Hawk, Ripper, etc…..The freaking HISS!) it is interesting to see Mattel, Hasbro, Four Horseman, Spero Toys, NECA, and Fwoosh too make many lists in some way. They make some great pieces to ignite the imagination and transport us to when we were younger.
I sincerely hope Hasbro continues to bring in some of their other retro properties into legends/classified. Fingers crossed for Rom/Marvel Micronauts/whatever…I’m with Dan on this one!
I’ll admit the ambient noise concerned me. I listen to UA-cam videos (safely!) as I drive and thought the noise was my car or a nearby car. At a stop light I checked the comments and saw what the noise was.
Even without the music, your narration is super quiet (which makes the UA-cam ads blaring when they cut in), but especially the music is overpowering your voice. And I've never noticed such an issue in any of your other videos.
I did the thing where I put everything I bought this year on the counter and spent hours picking out these ten. It was a fun way to spend the New Year break. Once I was done, I noticed a trend of women wearing black. Character - IP - Line 1. Samus Aran: Dread Ver. - Metroid - figma 2. Arcee - Transformers - Flame Toys 3. Spider-Gwen - Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - S.H.Figuarts 4. Gold Ship - Umamusume: Pretty Derby - figma 5. Alice Synthesis Thirty - Sword Art Online - figma 6. Baroness with Cobra C.O.I.L. - G.I. Joe - Classified Series 7. Remasteted Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger - Power Rangers - Lightning Collection 8. Violet - Persona 5 Royal - figma 9. Hemet Nethel - Falslander - figma 10. Yor Forger - Spy x Family - S.H.Figuarts
My absolute favorite toy videos of every year are your quarterly FOTY vids. So excited to jump into this one. Thanks for another year of smiles, Dan. 🖤
Great list, Dan! I have currently a Top 28 of 2023, which doesn’t help. I will limit mine as you do, to one figure representing a line (especially G.I. Joe Classified). It may be a top 6, though, since I don’t collect a whole lot of lines. 10. Neca Last Ronin - He came out in 2022, but I never saw him until January of 2023. That figure is an excellent sculpt, has a pile of accessories, and comes from a great comic book. I added him so I didn’t list another G.I. Joe Classified, because Retro Zartan or Ripper could go here. I wrote this list on numerical order, so #1 got written first. 9. McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Atomic Skull - This figure took me by surprise. I bought the two-pack with him and Superman to use Supes to kitbash a classic beefy version, and would sell Atomic Skull. I started playing with Atomic Skull and found him dynamic to pose, has great translucent hands and just a great reuse of existing parts. 8. G.I. Joe Tiger Force Recondo - I am of a minority who LOVES Recondo’s Tiger Force colors as much his classic tan with green. I think it is plausible to wear in the jungle and doesn’t seem goofy like Slaughter’s Marauders Barbecue’s colors. Aside from a better rifle upgrade, he was a fantastic update to the vintage figure. 7. McFarlane Toys Collectors Edition Wonder Woman - I added her lower on the list because I loved the figure, had lots of accessories, she just is so dang tall. 6. Action Force Pandora - I backed their KS, and wanted Pandora to fund. She was HIGHLY anticipated, and when she arrived, she was excellent. Both Eclipses, regular and Warpath, were excellent and Kill-Switch took me by surprise with how much I liked her. 5. Masters of the Universe Masterverse New Eternia Ram Man - Clawful, Trap Jaw, Man-At-Arms, Beast Man, Man-E-Faces, even N.A. He-Man, Skeletor and Slush-Head were solid releases. I missed out on Faker, Buzz-Off and Mer-Man, so I can’t add them to my list (despite really wanting to). 4. Marvel Legends Black Widow - She showed everyone what Hasbro could do with a female figure. I missed out on Spiral, who I think could have taken her spot. But, I own Black Widow, so she’s on the list. 3. McFarlane Toys Knightfall Batman - He hit so many things I wanted, but could have been better. I still love him. 2. G.I. Joe Classified Retro Snake Eyes - this list is 12 of those 28 figures I said. All you showed, plus Snow Job, Wolf Spider, Ripper and Firefly were heavy hitters. 1. Neca Warduke - you summed it all up. I love this figure and think they knocked it out of the park with everything, airing out of his pits notwithstanding.
I think my top 10 for 2023 would be something like: 10) GI Joe Devilfish (3d printed Classified vehicle bought at JoeFest) 9) Io Sky (WWE Mattel) 8) Alfred dressed as Batman (Batman 66 McFarlane Toys) 7) Red Sonja and Vampirella (Loose Collector) 6) Chun Li (Jada Toys) 5) Ripper, Zarana and Buzzer (GI Joe Classified) 4) Black Widow (Marvel Legends Avengers 60th) 3) Storm Shadow (GI Joe Classified Retro card) 2) Torpedo (GI Joe Classified) 1) Batman (Mafex Batman:Hush)
My most eagerly awaited video for the new year! Glad you had so much fun in 2023, Dan! I'm happy to see we picked up many of the same figures even if our top 10s are different. My top 10 was: 1. Adventure Series Indiana Jones Raiders Indy 2. SH Monsterarts Gigan 3. ML Amazing Spider-man 2 Spider-man 4. Black Series Ahsoka Sabine Wren 5. Figma Birth of Venus 6. DND Golden Archive Edgen 7. Adventure Series Henry Jones Sr. 8. DC Multiverse The Flash Supergirl 9. DC Multiverse Raven 10. Loosecollector Red Sonja
Met some Spero toys guys at a local toy expo. Loved their enthusiasm. I also had one of their figs as my #6, but mine was Thane. Because I have a brand and part of that brand is gorillas.
I wish he had a few more detents, especially in the shoulders, but yeah, he's a stellar ape. I'm so torn between which head to leave him with as they both look great
So glad to see Crystar at #2! When I was a kid, my best friend had a Crystar figure. He barely cared about it but every time we played I was drawn to it. He didn't even remember who it was and, of course, I didn't know either, but I always wanted him on my 'team'. Of course, the fact that I wanted to play with it made it more interesting for him and we would often argue about it - with him eventually winning because ultimately, it was his figure. When he was announced, the nostalgia hit HARD and I had to have it. And, with the one caveat that his helmet can't come off (COME ON HASBRO!!), he is perfect! Great list, Dan!! Can't wait to see what 2024 brings us!
Warduke was my number one until the Four Horsemen Monkey King arrived, then came the blue lizard dude in the orange and gray spacesuit from Cosmic Legions. Finally Mezco Superman arrived and secured my number one spot. 2023 was a great year to be a collector!
I think it is great that you have some figures tie, or that a figure represents a line. The excitement and joy in your tone comes through and as collectors that's how we should feel.
My thoughts: that background ambient noise had me thinking my ceiling fan was on the fritz but I don’t even have a ceiling fan. Kenner color Fett at 8 was surprising to me being a huge vintage Fett fan myself. Nice touch with the stormtrooper blaster. I need to copy you there Cool to see the less popular non-vintage remakes and new ip’s getting love and introducing it to some too. Like you said, you can use your imagination on a lot of them cause there isn’t a comic or cartoon telling you what they are. Not digging Neca at a top spot cause of their QC issues on seemingly all 250+ figures I bought from them. Quit buying from them like 5 years ago cause of it You hit the nail on the head with the classified Joe line. It really was the best line to me this year. Hard to pick one single figure as the best. Even characters that I didn’t care much about as a kid like Scrap Iron really blew me away. Kudos to them on that line
I hear you on the NECA. They can still be hit or miss even though they've taken care of a lot of the issues. Heck, even this Warduke has a tiny little chain on his hip that I've broken and repaired. more times than I can count.
My 10 for the year, I'm a primary transformers collector so it was a surprise to see some other lines get in there 10 Beachcomber 9 Origin Jazz 8 Cover Girl 7 Spider-Gwen 6 Reaction Unicron 5 Plunderling BlackJak 4 SG Grimlock 3 Shipwreck 2 Deathsaurus 1 Core Class Volcanicus
Ha, was just thinking "... wait, Dan hasn't done the top 10 yet..." and here it is! Should have just had the HISS looming in the background like "Dan... you know you want me on top of the list Dan..."
@@ToyGalaxy I actually have a shot of it in my kids' old stroller and it BARELY fits. Given that I think it cost more than the stroller did, that feels appropriate. Right now, it's on top of the fish tank. Since it's the size of a pet... again, appropriate. Great year from you as always. My son's now going through all the old videos and drowning me in questions.
Fantastic wrap up, Dan! There are so many lines doing amazing stuff, indies and old school manufacturers, original IPs and vintage properties. It’s a great time to be interested in toys! Classified has got to be my overall favorites but I’ve been loving Xesray’s gladiators, marvel legends(that Crystar!) and Cosmic/Mythic Legions….rounded out with Black Series Ahsoka Wave, Jada Toys Chun-li and the Sun Man revival figures…Looking forward to more of your writing and vids in the new year!
I bought two figures this year, Warduke and Grimsword, super cool. Had a good year, also found my original Warduke, Kelek, and Strongheart, and just found a box of my original Star Wars stuff my mom had squirreled away decades ago. Complete Hoth base, Y-wing, Dagobah set in the box, some figures and an ATST. Good year for my childhood...
Oh hey! Great video - Totally agree about the ankylosaurus, it's REALLY hard to put down! Also, where did you get your alternate katanas for Spiral? I've been wanting to find some simple ones so she's got 6. Thanks!
They're from Fwoosh Toys Articulated Icons figures. I have a bunch of those ninjas and they all come with at least 2 swords. I had plenty to spare to give Spiral 6 matching ones. I also like Marauder Gun Runners 1/12 Katana that comes with either silver or black hand guard. You can order them individually in whatever quantity you need: www.marauderinc.com/product-p/12-800061.htm
Man, it feels great to see the NECA DnD figures get some love in a top ten list. Those figures are all amazing. Props for sticking to your guns with Warduke. I prefer Strongheart cuz he can come across as more of a generic knight than the rest of the line. Zarak was also a highlight. Great lil figure. Stoked for Elkhorn. His accessory line up is insane.
My top ten this year is: 10. DST The Rocketeer 9. 4H Figura Obscura Father Christmas 8. Mcfarlane Barbarian Batman 7. Mcfarlane Batman Knightfall 6. Adventure Series Indiana Jones 5. Mythic Legions Xylernian Guard 4. Neca Warduke 3. Jada Street Fighter Chun Li 2. 4H Figura Obscura Headless Horseman 1. Mythic Legions Duban
Great list - Spiral is such a great figure...so many great Classified figured like you said -- and glad to see you included Clawful...New Eternia is going in a great direction.
Oh man! I need that Warduke from Neca. I left him on the shelf at Lé Targét when I was trying not to spend a bunch on toys and eventually picked up Strongheart to go with my original 3.75/4” fig I still have from when I was a kid. But that Crystar!!! I still have my original little one on the shelf. My little brother and I saw them in the store one day and had to have them. Having no idea what it was or that it was a Marvel comic or that the skull logo for my favorite band would be lifted from a cover. lol
Looking forward to reading your article in the new Toy Collectr. Love watching your lists. I’m currently in the process of moving to collection 3.0. Don’t think you ever said how long that process was for you in that video. Did you methodically go through your stuff, or were you just at the point stuff had to go?
I didn't buy a whole lot of figures, beyond the Transformers Legacy BW figures that came out, but I did manage to get Doric's snowy owlbear wildshape figure late last year, and the Displacer Beast figure, which is cool. I think I also got the Storm Collectibles Mortal Kombat Liu Kang dragon figure (the green one, minus Liu Kang and his other accessories), and I bought a Power of the Primes Optimal Optimus figure. For my boyfriend, he got the "fire-breathing" Mario Movie Bowser figure, and Bowser's Floating Island Fortress playset. Beyond that, we got a few interesting things; he got a partial cosplay "fursuit" of his panther character, which is cool (though it's kinda damaged from wearing it at Anthrocon, which was his second visit to, so he'll need to get it repaired), I got a bunch of playbooks for the RPG Ironclaw, which I would love to play, eventually, and we both got custom-made plushes of the Archie Sonic character Rotor Walrus (technically, the SatAM Sonic character Rotor Walrus, due to their coloring), which I really like. So, it was pretty cool, as far as getting stuff goes.
Love it, though I do really love the self inflicted aspect of the quarterly top 10s as well. When your prepping for this one, is part of the process writing out what you love about the figures, so you can talk through that in the video, or are those things you don't need to list out for yourself, because you know it as soon as you see the figure in front of you?
Yes and yes. But even having "made decisions" for this video... I would still probably come up with a different Top 10 if I had to pick again right now.
Despite my common gripes, the ToddyMac Batmobile and Batman are in my T10. It’s right up my Crime Alley, and I really enjoyed it. Glad to see it make an appearance.
O-ring will always have a place in my heart but Classified at its best feels like vintage box art come to life. The one thing that Hasbro hasn’t done yet that I think would be amazing is making some of the Mini playsets like Outpost Defender, Cobra Bunker or Check Point Alpha. They would make really great display pieces
I didn’t pick up many figures in 2023, for me personally not many things really caught my attention but I really enjoyed the Grim Reaper figure AKA Hunk from Resident Evil series it’s an unlicensed figure but I really enjoyed handling it and getting into different poses.
I don't think that I managed to get ten figures this past year, but of what I did get, Legacy Armada Prime definitely takes the top spot. (Toxitron ended up a close contender though, if just for getting some long overdue closure on a cancelled toy that was previously only the realm of convention exclusives.) Also, first time following one of these from start to finish, and it's been fun seeing the anky hang through the whole way.
Would love if NECA finishes out the LJN D&D line, including the "lost" wave. But would equally love if Hasbro, Sup7, or NECA released original updated scales of these figs. Make THIS Warduke in the scale of the original (with Battle Action!)
I picked up a ton of stuff in 2023. Here's my Top 10: 1. Super 7 G.I. Joe ULTIMATES! Red Jackal 2. Neca Universal Monsters Ultimate Creature from the Black Lagoon (Color Ver.) 3. G.I. Joe Classified Series Arctic B.A.T. 4. Invincible Deluxe Allen the Alien 5. Adventure Series Indiana Jones (Temple of Doom) 6. Bandai Spirits MSG Gundam Universe GU-01 RX-78-2 7. Sega Premium Figure Fukajiro (SOA Alternative Gun Gale Online) 8. Bandai Namco Godzilla: Final Wars Movie Monster Series Hedorah 9. Star Wars Black Series 6" Wicket (Return of the Jedi) 10. Jurassic World Hammond Collection Triceratops
@@ToyGalaxy he keeps sneaking into my shopping cart at the Wallymart before I gain the willpower to just leave with boring essential groceries- granted he gets closer every time.
Great top ten, Dan, gotta get me a few more of them Cosmics ... also, for everyone reading this, if you really tap into the ambient noise, it hits an ethereal quality to where it's almost meditative. 🧘♂️
I'm aware that the ambient background noise is a bit loud on some devices. Thank you for struggling through it. It sounded fine on my computer/tv/phone.
I'm working thru it, but on my bluetooth earbud, it's hard to concentrate on your words. 😢
These things happen. Still one of my favorite parts of the New Year.
sounds like a horror theme lol
people need to toughen up
It's *really* rough on my desktop speakers. I can barely hear you. It's *extremely* distracting, and I think it detracts from the video.
The background humming is intense! I thought something was happening at my house 😂
I'm hypnotized by the background buzz.
My favorite part for his video is when Stormshadow turns into Shipwreck. Like magic.
I couldn't decide!
Yes! Finally! The new year doesn't truly start until the final list is published.
I've been checking again and again the last almost two weeks for Dan's list! Glad he finally got it!
I feel I'm being told your top ten while at a Yoga class 😂
Great list as always Dan, hope 2024 brings you good stuff and great figures!
Having got back into my toy collection over the last couple of months (I recently fell down the Classified rabbit hole) I’ve been looking forward to this. As always, thanks Dan. It's the list I've been waiting for all year! Amazing figures! Great top 10!
Dan i think someone forgot to turn off the binaural beats on your video
🦻🏻Had to watch in 5 minute sessions with ear breaks. Felt like that background noise was an earworm burrowing into my brain 🧠
My big takeaway: Dan has quite the inventory of spare swords laying about.
As you do
Seeing the job Hasbro did on Crystar, I'm really hoping they do an independent line of "Hasbro Legends" and give us Rom and Micronauts figures, and then sprinkle some of the connected Marvel owned characters here and there in various Marvel Legends waves. Make it happen, Hasbro!!
I'd kill for a Circuit Breaker
I was just about to make the Circuit Breaker comment. I would love to see that happen.
Even just doing another Matt Trakker in Classified would be nice. Or push it and do a two-pack with Miles Mayhem.

The booth isn't big enough. That thing is huge.
Excellent list as always. I do very much enjoy collecting action figures vicariously through you sir.
Yeah. That #1 spot. So good.
Thumbs up just because you put a Minimate on your list!
I had Crystat as a kid. The smell literally gave me a headache but i couldn't stop playing with it.
I love these videos and look forward to the next.
You're right about that. Nobody that follows you was surprised that boba Fett was on your list. I am surprised that he wasn't higher on your list
Also.... that bass is blowing my earballs out lol
Great list! Would love to see more Top 10s like you used to do, would gladly become a Patron for them as well. Keep rocking it Dan!
Awesome TOP TEN
My top ten this year is:
10. DST The Rocketeer
9. 4H Figura Obscura Father Christmas
8. Mcfarlane Barbarian Batman
7. Mcfarlane Batman Knightfall
6. Adventure Series Indiana Jones
5. Mythic Legions Xylernian Guard
4. Neca Warduke
3. Jada Street Fighter Chun Li
2. 4H Figura Obscura Headless Horseman
Having no idea what it was or that it was a Marvel comic or that the skull logo for my favorite band would be lifted from a cover. lol
Visionaries would be amazing to see
Looking forward to reading your article in the new Toy Collectr. Love watching your lists. I’m currently in the process of moving to collection 3.0. Don’t think you ever said how long that process was for you in that video. Did you methodically go through your stuff, or were you just at the point stuff had to go?
The crystar figure was the first figure i saw go on clearance as a kid 😂
Dan says "if you're going to make me do these lists, I'm going to annoy you with Tibetan bowl sounds that are louder than my voice"
Sounds like someone mowing their lawn in the background. 🚜
@@upyoursenator I paused the video twice to make sure it was the TV in the beginning
@@upyoursenatoror a Tesla
That background sound is painful Dan
At the start of 2023 I started my Gi Joe Classified collection. It’s been a long strange and pricey ride. Well worth it!
Cool list Lots of swords ⚔️🗡️ 👍🤘
Awesome list Dan. I kinda feel like this would be the group in the cantina scene if it was made today.
I need to get caught up with Masterverse. I have Beast Man, Evilyn, and ScareGlow. Need Clawful for sure
I bought most of my NECA figs from Sarge and Red's last year!
Been looking forward to this one
My Crystar arrived today, so he missed the 2023 boat. Nice picks, Dan. Happi New Year!
I kept looking at the Crystar figure and couldn't not see his head as that of a glass rhinoceros... once you see it, you can't un-see it! 😅
Having a been long time fan of Secret Galaxy (I prefer Toy Galaxy myself). I’m glad I stumbled upon your channel Dan! Entertaining as ever.
Thank you very much.
Dan, I'd be interested to know what your overall top list would be if you included new-to-you thrift and flea market finds. New list video idea!
Despite my common gripes, the ToddyMac Batmobile and Batman are in my T10. It’s right up my Crime Alley, and I really enjoyed it. Glad to see it make an appearance.
You should do a top 10 per scale, makes your job easier and it's more content.
Been waiting for this!, funny enough, the only two figures I bought and kept in my permanent collection are Crystar and Warduke!
I have war duke n storm shadow. I love both. Zarana is my fav joe.
What. The fqqqq. Is the background sound.
I didn’t pick up many figures in 2023, for me personally not many things really caught my attention but I really enjoyed the Grim Reaper figure AKA Hunk from Resident Evil series it’s an unlicensed figure but I really enjoyed handling it and getting into different poses.
Looks like we didn’t get an “And the rest” team photo this year, might that be still in the works?
Good catch! Yes. I have that stack of figures that I still need to shoot. There's just so much of it it's daunting.
I don't think that I managed to get ten figures this past year, but of what I did get, Legacy Armada Prime definitely takes the top spot. (Toxitron ended up a close contender though, if just for getting some long overdue closure on a cancelled toy that was previously only the realm of convention exclusives.)
Also, first time following one of these from start to finish, and it's been fun seeing the anky hang through the whole way.
I don't collect anything, but would buy a Witterquick from Visionaries if that ever happened.
Would love if NECA finishes out the LJN D&D line, including the "lost" wave. But would equally love if Hasbro, Sup7, or NECA released original updated scales of these figs. Make THIS Warduke in the scale of the original (with Battle Action!)
While I enjoy these kind of videos, I have avoided getting into action figure collecting....but man, those cosmic legion figures are amazing!
When are we getting the 1:6 Scale USS Flagg? lol
I picked up a ton of stuff in 2023. Here's my Top 10:
1. Super 7 G.I. Joe ULTIMATES! Red Jackal
2. Neca Universal Monsters Ultimate Creature from the Black Lagoon (Color Ver.)
3. G.I. Joe Classified Series Arctic B.A.T.
4. Invincible Deluxe Allen the Alien
5. Adventure Series Indiana Jones (Temple of Doom)
6. Bandai Spirits MSG Gundam Universe GU-01 RX-78-2
7. Sega Premium Figure Fukajiro (SOA Alternative Gun Gale Online)
8. Bandai Namco Godzilla: Final Wars Movie Monster Series Hedorah
9. Star Wars Black Series 6" Wicket (Return of the Jedi)
10. Jurassic World Hammond Collection Triceratops
Gundam Universe RX-78-2 nice!
The BA He-man comes with the standard harness fyi
I don't go by "mythology" or anything, I just throw them all into a pro wrestling league by scale.
23:22 be like- What Do We Do With A Drunken Sailor
He snuck in!
@@ToyGalaxy he keeps sneaking into my shopping cart at the Wallymart before I gain the willpower to just leave with boring essential groceries- granted he gets closer every time.
LOUD NOISES AAAAH
Finally!!!
My Crystar(s) didn’t show up until this year, so he’s gonna have to wait to be in our Top 10, but he’s already on the list.
Great top ten, Dan, gotta get me a few more of them Cosmics ... also, for everyone reading this, if you really tap into the ambient noise, it hits an ethereal quality to where it's almost meditative. 🧘♂️
