"I'm not worried about their budget, I'm worried about my budget." Quite possibly my favorite quote of the year so far. I've definitely had to cut back this year due to the rising prices, but being more selective is helping me appreciate what I have already. Great video sir, I always love your top 10s!
100% - I appreciate all my collection and love many IPs but even if I can collect it all, why do it. Great perspective. Healthy and more fulfilling.
The cat screaming at you was hilarious! I LOVE those bats but have never seen one in the wild!
This video was Dan very politely explaining that pre-ordering anything from Big Bad Toy Store that is due for release in six months means you will actually get it six days after you place the order, or six years after you order it, and none of it makes sense.
That Phantom figure is prerty cool, i like da blue suit better.
I completely get where you're coming from with the budget. I'm buying my first house this month, so I've slashed a lot of my figure budget this past year. I still buy plenty of figures, but probably not even half of what I would've last year. With prices rising across the board, I gotta be more selective, which isn't necessarily a bad thing because shelf space has always been limited to begin with, so I'm only picking out the figures that I would have a hard time not fitting into a top 10. If I couldn't honestly see myself loving a figure that much, I gotta pass on it.
So sad that they did such a low production run on those Elvira figures. I guess they didn't trust that it would sell. :(
That Ming is gorgeous! They could do an entire line of just Ming in his outfits from the movie.
I am SHOCKED AND OFFENDED that those damned Plunderlings consistently beat out some really amazing figures. Why can't your interests be basically exactly like mine, Dan?
I can't wrap my head around the appeal of Plunderlings. I guess that's what is cool about this hobby is that it's all subjective. I do love these list videos.
@@swatbullet Yeah... I'm just joking about them, mostly. Not my cup of tea at all, but I can see the appeal for people who don't have my same Stick In The Mud ideas about how only 'badass' action figures are cool, ha ha
@@swatbullet they're neat. I have one, and that's enough for me. I definitely get the appeal, but I can't see myself going all in on a plunderlings collection. I might get one of those Plunderstrong Captain BlacJaks, though.
@@MattCNormand Yeah, I'm sure there are toys that I love that other people don't care for. There's just only so many lines I can get sucked into lol.
This series is my favorite thing you do, Dan. I'm curious how you feel about the GI Joe "retro" 5PA figures. For me as a kid, what made GO Joe cool was the detail and articulation, so I'm kind of scandalized by them. The Marvel and Star Wars ones are great, however. I just feel really strong about Joes being highly poseable.
I don't love them. But that has more to do with price than anything. I agree with the idea that 5POA seems like a step BACKWARD for GIJoe. I felt the same way as a kid. Star Wars was the old way, the future was GIJoe. But I would still pick up a few of the Joes if they were $10 (or less) instead of $15.
That film version of Ming is my most wanted figure of the year, can’t believe I missed out on him haha.. I’m working on a t-shirt version of Flash right now. Awesome video!
I just found one of these Flash/Ming sets at my local WalMart like 3 days ago, so keep checking... they're definitely still out there!
I still see these at Walmart, for what it's worth.
@@badbirdkc crazy, around what area?
@@blackyshepherd9172 Nice! My city doesn’t have walmart but when I check surrounding areas there’s zilch, I’m not giving up tho haha
@@chet_inator_gator Kansas City. I still see them at one store in particular.
These videos are fun to watch, despite the fact that it taste in Acton figures is so different. If I were doing a top 10, none of the figures I'd pick were even on Dan's table, and likewise, none of his in consideration would be on mine.
I think it's be fun if he challenged a few of his cohosts on UA-cam to try a mid year top ten (pretty much every body does a year end favorites list, but nobody does a mid year expect Dan.) with the same rules Dan is in place. Might be fun just to see where our favorite channels differ.
Glad I found this!!! No clue why my bell didn’t notify me but I’m stoked!
Catching up on your Top 10s - love these! You totally sold me on that amazing Bushranger figure. That looks fantastic!
No, don't bounce the Phantom...
This is an excellent roll call! I loved Elvira, Flash Gordon, and Warhammer making this list sparked my heart. I like the Star Wars figures also being included in different scales to round things out. I do mix things up a bit in my own collection. As another great collector would say it is great to have options!
That last cut wounded my soul a little. Lol
That is the best spiderman in years.
Did Bronx ever really release? I know he was found at a few targets. Where did you get yours??? I have my pre order stuck on EE lol
Bronx did release, yes. I got mine through another collector. My guess is that a lot of stores just haven't cycled the product out yet. Like my local stores.
These videos always bring us joy, despite all the stress from the elimination. 😂
I am glad the net value is positive.
I've definitely had a BAT and Bronx on my desk since I picked them up. NECA Franken Raph is definitely up there as well with Lightning Collection Finster, and Barbarian Skeletor.
Ground Gundam already is my favorite suit, with ez8 a close second, so glad to see you enjoying that robot spirits one. It's fantastic.
Man retro collecting is blowing up. How dope. I'm definitely gonna get into retro collecting more with everything from super powers, kenner, and even super 7.
Dan,
Awesome list!😁👍. What were the Super7 robots from? I do not recognize them!
They're ReAction figures from Super 7's in-house line called "The Worst." There was a robot character called X-2 "The Unknown" from the very beginning. But recently they expanded it to 5 robots instead of just the one.
@@ToyGalaxy Awesome! Thanks Dan! Happy 4th!👍🙏🇺🇸
I am so terribly sad that The Phantom got bounced.
I had a complete mental breakdown listening to that roll call from the intro
10. Marvel Legends Black suit Spider-Man.
9. Mcfarlane Roach (horse)
8. NECA Comic Phantom
7. NECA Bronx
6. Mafex Homelander
5. Action Force Garrison Calvary
4. Classified BAT’s
3. Action Force Desert Rat
2. Classified Croc Master/Fiona
1. Mafex Endgame Captain America
It's funny, I have so many villains in my collection (Darth Vader, Dr. Doom, Cobra Commander, Mumm Ra) but I just cannot bring myself to buy a Homelander. He's THAT evil.
I almost never agree with your lists (not a Superman guy), but these are some of my favorite videos. Thanks for making them.
I know I’m 2 days late to this game, it please produce more Dan in the Photobooth videos. There’s something inexplicably therapeutic about it all. The intro music, the rambling of a dude filtering through his toys, or opening boxes filled with random toys and gifts.
Will weever get a Boba Sett update? Always looked forward to that.
Good to see 52 Toys getting some love. They've been growing steadily here in the Mainland, and their founders are good dudes
Man, I really need some of those Joy Toy “This Guys” 😁
Awwww yes my favorite past time 🙌
seriously, I miss Toy Galaxy's presence amongst the Toy Reviewers community. Felt like I was watching a good buddy tell me about their hobby. With that said, any Dan content is good Dan content.
Dude. I’ve got the Flash/Ming movie box set and it’s killer. But the green Ming (I don remember what aspect of the line it’s from) is absolutely gorgeous. The sculpt is amazing but the paint on the face is magnificent. So many layers. So subtle and detailed. I can’t believe those shelf-warmed the way they did.
The RX-79 is one of my favorite Gundam designs. I have that Spider-Man and Boba Fett.
Lol your cat was given his two cents 🤣
Still limited but getting better on the colour palette. Glad that tree man made it.
I'm finding myself shifting my focus towards 7" scale this year with, Super 7 Ultimates, NECA, and McFarlane keeping me dialed in. MOTU Masterverse looks intriguing going forward. Still picking up a few Lightning Collection figures, slick villain figures, and filling in a few ranger rosters. The TMNT/MMPR crossover stuff was fun, unexpected, and unique. Anyway, here's my list so far for this year.
1. Antrax (NECA TMNT Cartoon)
2. Raph as Frankenstein's Monster (NECA)
3. Finster (Lightning Collection)
4. Morphed Raphael (Lightning Collection)
5. Beast Man w/ fuzzy shoulders (Masterverse)
6. Tyranid Genestealer (McFarlane Warhammer).
7. Wally West (McFarlane DC)
8. Lynx-O (Super 7 Ultimates Thundercats)
9. Mondo Gecko (Super 7 Ultimates TMNT)
10. Mumm-Ra the Everliving (Super 7 Ultimates Thundercats)
“That was a podracer going by” hahahaah
Elimination was fun to watch, but dang, was hoping to get a better look at that Elvira, lol.
I've been having money troubles for the last 5-6 years, so I like these videos because I can no longer afford to buy figures, and I get to enjoy them here vicariously. I love that classic Havok and the Ming The Merciless one...
I'm waiting for the new Neca universal monsters accessory packs and Lugosi Dracula as well as the new Robocop ultimates
That Owl is so gosh darn cute.
Definitely a new golden age. Too many wonderful choices. I shifted back to 3-3/4 to 4in only because of room. Firm but fair mid-year top ten.
I must say, the first part of this year has been fairly quiet for me. Most of what I've got in have been Star Wars Black 6" figures, a few pieces from McFarlane (mainly Warhammer) and DST (Lord of the Rings, Invincible) and a couple of odds 'n ends. My one big purchase was a Backerkit pre-order for Skeletron's upcoming Roboskull Mk 2, which I can't wait to get next year. At least the latter half of the year promises to be more interesting. I'm particularly hyped for Hiya Toys new 4" Judge Dredd range (which I am all-in for).
I was feeling a 3rd quarter squeeze that has turned into a 3rd quarter crunch. Most of my Q2 preorders shifted to Q3.
The day after I shot this I got a bunch of notifications that the preorders that got pushed to September were now arriving (Croc Master, Storm Shadow, Spirit), SHF Buzz Lightyear shipped, and my Gundam Universe Shenlong and Master Gundams arrived.
90% of my BBTS preorders have been delayed to the point i have 9 due this month and it just keeps snowballing
I try to limit myself and just get monster related stuff for the most part so that makes it a bit easier for me lol
Some target's have had those retro SW 3.75" figs for $4.99. What a clearance price, and not sure if they're going to drop to $2.99, but if they do, they won't last long.
I'm with you. Most of the stuff that would make my top 10 are still on pre order. When did the movie inspired Flash and Ming set come out? I completely missed that one.
The earliest I saw someone post pictures of it was probably 2 months ago. It's a Walmart exclusive so good luck finding it.
I have the Mojo set on pre-order with Hasbro Pulse. Don't really care for Mojo but I do require that Longshot. I also would very much like to see a Silvestri Rogue. That's basically the era that I started reading X-Men.
Dan
I am with you on the “ how much stuff can you buy “ I mean yes if I had unlimited disposable money and a place large enough to display them, I would be going wild. Reality is I am down to two lines at this time. Not counting the ever so often grab. But I am down to Marvel legends and DC McFarlane. And even those I am not picking up everything. I if late have been leaning towards restarting the g.I. Joe classified series. But for now marvel and DC have my attention because I have been a comic fan since 1973 and that is where my roots are.
Rip Ming and flash. I agree though they fall … a lot. (Maybe I’ll make some stands for those 2 . Also annoyed with the paint on Elvira’s legs, makes her less poseable as it breaks the colors.
It funny because I put NECA Phantom on a stand and he still falls over. Those weak ankles can't be helped by a peg in the foot.
@@ToyGalaxy oof. I guess they all need arm stands 😂
I know it’s exhausting, and I wish there was a new list every day…Thank you…
Also, finally, someone else talking about the McFarlane Reivers🙏
Finally a video about toys on Toy Galaxy! 😃
I'll admit it was the videos about TV shows that brought me here but it was the videos about toys that got me subscribed and coming back and I would love to see more videos about toys please 😅
I dunno it can be about characters: top 10 Bobba Fett, top 10 Optimus Prime, top 10 Spider-Man, top 10 Wolverine...
Or top 10 lines: top 10 GI Joe Classified, top 10 X Men, top 10 MCU, top 10 Black Series, top 10 Transformers, top 10 Marvel Legends heroes/villains, top 10 Gundam...
Or top 10 by companies: Hasbro, Toy Biz (I would LOVE to see some good old Toy Biz figures! 😍), Neca, JoyToy and so on.
Yeah some of those have been done before but wasn't it a long time ago? Nothing changed since..?
Just please try to make at least one toy video per week same as on the other channel..? 😊
Heck it can be the old 5min or less I don't care, some I wrote here I don't even like, I just want to see more toys!! 😃😃
Unfortunately, the reason we don't do them as much is they don't get enough views. Trust me, I'd love to be a toy exclusive channel... But I'd have to go back to having a full time job. Which I had for the first 6 years of the channel.
@@ToyGalaxy do it on this channel then and keep the main channel as it is. Can't it be done like that..?
@@caincha In theory, yes. But the main channel is my full time job now which means it's a full work week. I've spent my entire life working 2 or 3 jobs at once. Kind of want to give myself free time to relax on weekends. Spend time with my family. I post here when I can. But the grind of 7 years to get to this point wears you down. I like the "Best of [year]" series so I'm trying to keep that alive.
@@ToyGalaxy I see. I thought videos like the ones here didn't take too much time and prep that's why I asked.
Thanks for replying and letting me know - I do understand what you mean and appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Have a nice week 🙂
Great video sir, preciate it!
Very nice video and your comments are golden, Dan. ☺ I know it must have been a bit difficult feeling to pull out of this top 10 : Black Series Boba Fett ( 22:09 ), *and that nearly standing, beautiful, movie Ming the Merciless* ( 22:25 ) ! The Star Wars Black Series has won my attention with how ... faithful to the design intents they look now. Face scanning helps. ☺
... now about not wanting to over fill your Optimus Prime collection or whatever... ( 08:11 ) Robosen automated and self - transforming Optimus Prime !! It is calling you Dan ;D
imagine alf winning top 10. That phantom ranger bump cut deep though, Poor VRV Master.
Haven’t picked up too many figures this year. Did just get McFarlane toys MK11 Nightwolf as it just hit the shelf at my local comic shop ahead of my regular hunting grounds at Toys R Us and GameStop. Decent figure but I almost missed it on the shelves as they have switched to generic packaging for the line no longer featuring the figure on the sides and back. With it being the only new figure this wave and the dozens of spawn variants clogging pegs I fear this line is nearing its end just 14 characters in. Hopefully I am wrong.
That Ming figure is majestic, and I'm still sad that it's so hard to get. You taking it off the list hurt me a little :(
My Joe preorders from Hasbro Pulse have started coming in, so maybe that September preorder estimate will be revised for you.
Your cast was cracking me up. Was that Wednesday or Lupin?
Wednesday. She has always hated when we record anything. She doesn't like the volume or tone of my camera voice and she lets me know about it.
What happened to all your videos? They are not showing up when I go back to look through older ones
Which videos are you referring to? We have 2 channels now. This channel and the main channel ua-cam.com/users/toygalaxytv
I’m a big dumb dumb I’m subscribed to both channels but forgot that this is your second channel even tho it’s literally the name
8:13 you literally chose the one year possibly the best Spider-Man figure came out to draw your line on spidey
Which Spider-Man are you referring to? I have Pizza Spidey and Retro card Spidey. Those are the 2 best IMO from Hasbro.
I’m referring to the sentinel itsv Spider-Man, it’s not the classic one, kind of stylized, but damn is that thing gorgeous (the one without the gargoyle)
I would have liked to hear more details about some figures eliminated, especially Elvira ?? With her passing, I would like to hid a good decent or recent figure of Elvira. Thank you Dan and cat !
☺
Mumra super 7, classified Bat and the new beast man are my top 3 so far
Hi Dan, was the Hasbro Storm Shadow this year or not? Maybe you didn't get him yet he seems to be showing up on other lists. :)
As I watch the video you already mention Storm Shadow and Spirit.... Sorry.
loooooove this! thank you.
Are you going to get any of the Super Powers figures from McFarlane? I'm on the hunt for Superman. If there's any figure I must have from this year it's that.
Unlikely. I've never been a fan of that style of figure.
I rarely see joytoy from the big toytubers so that's pretty interesting
What is the name of that metal face figure...It looks really cool and I'd like to get one for my collection...also I haven't seen any Dragonball-One Piece - Silverhawks on any of your shows....
He's from Hasbro's Fortnite line and called "Metal Mouth". You were so close to guessing it. We covered Silverhawks back in 2017: ua-cam.com/video/9A71GrPxQ90/v-deo.html
@@ToyGalaxy I just got into the show it's pretty awesome...I am collector myself I just gained a few for my birthday on October 8th but I tend to keep mine in the packages except my statues of course
Is THAT a Bubo action figure?!
Edit.. no. But it's cool as hell
Nooooo! Not Elvira!
I’ve found all the new Gi Joes at 3 different Walmarts
Wow! Nice!
More cat please!
I miss your top ten videos
Will you be getting the Megatron/Baroness and Bumblebee/Stalker?
No. I love the concept, but don't love the execution. With so much on the market, so many things to collect, I'm always looking for ANY reason not to get something. The deco choices for HISS/Meg was enough for me to pass.
@@ToyGalaxy I think I know what you mean. AWE Striker Bee would have looked better as Beachcomber (who is that model of vehicle) or Hound. But Bumblebee is popular.
Maybe we'll get Optimus as the Rhino, with Magic and Megabyte riding along.
Of your figures here, I think I would go: 1. Elvira, 2. Ming, 3. Halo, 4. Black Suit Spider-Man, 5. The Phantom
I know im a little late to the party but because ive been watching him for almost 10 years now i can confidently say Peaugh's name is pronounced Pee-Awe.
DEMONA!!
EFF Everything else!!
More cat content pls
Could you imagine the bane on your wallet a Hasbro Disney's Gargoyles line would be?
Well... it's coming. Lexington and Brooklyn will likely hit before the end of the year.
@@ToyGalaxy Think of all the Xanatos variants...
When I’m trying to figure my top ten & it’s harder as the price increases have cut several good figures from being bought so cheating a lil- A Plunderling, loosecollector Lady Death, Hasbro ML Angela that I finally got because LD, ML classic Hercules, Hasbro fortnite Meowcles, carbonite BS Dave Filoni, Neca Monster Raph, valaverse series 2 sgt Slaughter, 1000 toys Master Chief, Medicom Blacksuit Superman.
I’ll do a trade with you, I was planning on selling longshot and long hair dazzler. I already have short hair dazzler which I prefer cuz of the X-men arcade game. 👍
YES PLEASE!
Bob you're absolutely outta' your mind if you don't think the warhammer space marine isn't one of the best of the year and one of the best ever made👍
Checking in on behalf of my neighbor, Billy William.
Glad to hear you're both doing well. At least, well enough to comment on youtube.
@@ToyGalaxy All good here, just been quiet but watching ya. Loved the 89 Batman vid, and it was even sweeter because I've replicated Batmania for myself this summer collecting wise. I saw that and deemed you a powerful psychic.
My top 3 rn have to be
Sen-ti-nel peter b parker
Mafex homelander
Filix toys ink blot
MING!
Warduke
Ah, yes my quarterly reminder to empty my wallet by stealing someone else's opinions on awesome toys😈
Transformers light year
Why not decline the promo bribes from these corporate toy yuppies and suffer the scalpers and preorder pushbacks with the the rest of us? Sorry I can’t trust your opinions when you get the hottest figures for free
Don't apologize. You're welcome to disagree with me.
