I am the 6th great niece of Thomas and John Bacon and I am the 5th great grandchild of George Weightman. I am proud of what they believed in and proud to say I am a descendant of a very important piece of history. Their memory will carry to my children, and then theirs. (Australia).
My 4th G-Grandfather Jeremiah Brandreth, the Nottingham Captain, was hung and beheaded for his actions. His son Timothy, only a small boy when his father was executed, years later the twice widowed Timothy Brandreth, emigrated to America with his son John in 1850. He remarried in America and had a son Gerald. Both his sons would become Ministers. Johns youngest daughter was my mother’s grandmother. Despite the circumstances of his death Jeremiah was a devoutly religious man, I am proud of the effort to stand up for workers rights in a changing economy.
Penetzi what an amazing story! There’s actually a new Pentrich film being shown tomorrow in Derbyshire at a screening of the Peterloo film. We’ve had a number of events to Mark Pentrich in recent weeks. Are you aware of the Pentrich & South Wingfield group on FaceBook? Also, are you aware of the wooden door kept at Nottingham Castle that was used during the execution of your ancestor? I’d be delighted to arrange a viewing if you’re ever in town. Best wishes Paul, Content Creator
