Wizards are my favorite "mythical" creatures. The archetype of a wise old man with a long white beard and flowing white hair has many iterations, including the hermit and god/Wotan himself, but I think the Northern European magician type is the best.
His raw magical power, to be sure, as well as his gift of foresight, but he spent many years studying and practicing the arcane arts in order to hone his skills, and become the wise and powerful wizard who guided and defended Arthur Pendragon and the Kingdom of Camelot.

It was nimue who would be downfall of merlin. Not Morgana. That came later on in the the myths and legends of merlin. Other people have said that a merlin was a title for highest druids. The Theory is that merlin would been seen at different locations hundreds miles away. Given him (and others) the power of transporting themselves over long distances. But ,hay , who really knows. The two dragons that were fighting are famous, the red one is called Ddraig he represents the welsh flag which gave him the nickname welsh dragon, and the white one is called Albion who is the rival of Ddraig.
