Indeed, I love the camera work and the enthusiasm shown, it is like being up there with your best friend. Although every time the Grapevine goes up there a new volcano forms shortly after. I think they must have very heaving hiking boots and they are causing new fissures with all their stomping about ! :)
This is amazing. And you had such good timing! Where Valur was standing- that's the last time anyone will get to stand there for the foreseeable future. Thank you for these great shots, Art. Stay safe but keep these updates coming, we appreciate them and you. I can't wait to see it for myself.
And I thought it looked like a alligator with a long toothy snout when that piece popped out😁 Enjoying this wonderful, historic time thanks to you beautiful local citizens. 💜🥶🔥
I don't have the words to best compliment the photography and drone footage, it is so on point with every angle and the sounds captured. I had to stop early to write this compliment. Going to watch the rest of it now.
Those pictures with real sound from after the wall broke was totallay incredible. Please never take this video down. I have to watch that over and over again.
This is the best video footage yet of this most spectacular geologic event. Your reportage is truly excellent. Your cameraman is doing a wonderful job capturing the event. Your drone footage was absolutely stunning. Watching this at 5.00am in the morning on my 75"TV is almost as mesmerising as being there which I had the privilege of doing back in 1985 on a modelling assignment, where I spent an entire Saturday evening watching super 8 footage of someone's videos of the volcanoes of Iceland. That memory has stuck with me ever since and your continuous footage since the start of this current series of eruptions has me mesmerised again. Greetings from the Train Lord in South Australia. Keep up the good work. Well done again!
Astonishing! How lucky that you were there just as that huge breakout happened. For once you were speechless! And that's no problem, because no words were needed.
Absolutely incredible. Thank you for this world class coverage. I have been so grateful to be able to join you all in this wonderful journey so far and witness this together even though travel to Iceland is not possible for most of us.
Wow!! Some of the most amazing footage ever filmed. You were so lucky to have been at the right spot at the right time when the lava lake wall broke! I eagerly await every single one of your UA-cam broadcasts.
Ah-ha! Now we know how Art is able to get such smooth shots, he tells you to walk slower. :) I don't envy you two the hike back in the dark on a rocky improvised trail. Thanks for the update and stay safe out there.
Mesmerising stuff. Takk! You guys deserve a major media award for your informative and entertaining coverage of this event. I cannot wait for the next broadcast!
Thank you, Valur and your amazing photographer. I am really enjoying your presentation of this fiery aspect of our Mother Earth-from the comfort of my living room! Wonderful reporting!
@@Matira269 I wrote an answer to this and it seems to have disappeared, so I'll write it again. If it shows up twice - Sorry. Stay safe both of you. With best wishes from Herefordshire, UK (last known volcanic eruption here - a long time pre-Ice Age!)
The mark of an excellent producer..after that break out, he let the images talk for him, so we could all just be in awe of this event. Just Gorgeous images, and planning to make that Drone footage as a wallpaper. It's so good.
Awesome!! I started watching you a couple of weeks ago and get excited when I see you have a new video. Thank You so much, not just fantastic footage but great explanations. Warmest greetings from Wales.
Just absolutely amazing volcanic activity! I wish I could be in Iceland to witness it live. The Earth is an amazing place. Stay safe to all my Icelandic friends! Oh and please thank your camera man for the excellent shots.
Incredible footage! I just had to make my room completely dark, turn up the volume on my headset and listen to the crackling of the glassy lava and the deep blowing of the wind. And of course thank you for throwing a snowball at the lava stream! I think most of us had the urge to see that happen! :D
What a really warm delightful enthusiastic and informative chap ... human, intelligent and with natural ability...thanks so much for your excellence and you REALLY DESERVE A PRIZE for your professionalism and exemplary knowledge ...you’re a natural..Well Done and looking forward to your next fantastic instalment..take care .
You are giving the world a window into creation. You are blessed to have been there at the right time in this generation. Thanks for using your skills to share this with us. It's unforgettable. Greetings from New Zealand.
When basaltic lava cools, it forms a crust of black glass. The crackling sound is the sound of the glass crust breaking, as the lava slowly moves forward.
Dear Lord - Valur and Polly have opened a gateway to the Underworld. BTW - from a geologist - that was a really nice explanation of why this volcano is different.
The technical explanation for why this is an odd eruption is that the magma is very 'primitive'. Which means that it has only just separated from the solid Mantle rather than hanging around in a magma chamber somewhere in the Crust. The magma is very rich in olivine and is close in composition to a rock called picrite. It is also *really* hot - about 1200C. As it rises through the Crust, it is passing through rocks with lower melting points which means the magma is eroding the channels, so more magma can come up. As more magma rises, it reduces pressure on the hot, solid Mantle. Lowering pressure but keeping the temperature the same, means that some of the Mantle melts, producing more magma, which rises up, reducing pressure, more melting... So this eruption could go on for a very long time. Perhaps even long enough for us to get out of lockdown!
Valur (and sometimes Polly), your videos are informative, fun and so amazing. I’ve watched all that I can find but #93 was the best! Keep them coming, please!
Excellent point about bringing children to the area ~ Stay safe yourself ~ Also besides the visuals, thank you for taking the time to just listen. This gives me goosebumps hearing the earth sizzle!

Your advice to visitors is excellent - and I hope that people will take it, even if it means only visiting the eruption from the next mountaintop, away from the gas or surprise lava break-outs.
Finally, I am impressed at the visitors during that break out, moving away in an un-panicked and orderly manner. I can only imagine the rabble that would follow if that were to happen here in the UK (not a pretty picture).
Thankyou for your reports.
I wish I could be there but your reporting is a great substitute!
You guys have been pretty consistently pumping out the best volcano footage since the week before the thing even existed
