Ophelia Talks I started it and it is a really lovely easy to follow pattern with beautiful result. I also am working the Annie shawl. Grandma had the best patterns, yah.
This would be my favorite CAL. Lovely story behind this blanket. So happy I was able to learn something new. Hope to win the Hiya Hiya set. So I can continue my journey with Anja.
I'm enjoying crocheting this blanket. Thank you. My daughter of 28yrs has decided she wants to learn to crochet so we are creating together. Hubby seems happy too! The house is so much quieter when crochet is happening, (except for the odd wee swear word when a stitch too many or a stitch dropped 🤭).
It's my first ever CAL too, and I can't tell you how relieved I am that I have the right numbers! I've recently picked up on crochet after many years and find I struggle to make my counts match the patterns. But this time (so far!) I'm spot on and your instructions have helped me keep to the pattern. I'm looking forward to working on the repeats and seeing the blanket grow over the coming week. Thank you for taking the time to make the pattern and share the crocheting with us!
Can't wait to buy yarn in a few weeks when hopefully we won't have a police cerfew anymore. I'll start later but stull it will be a JOY! It's a beautiful blanket. 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌸🌸🌸🌸🍃🍃🍃🍃🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🍃🍃🍃🍃🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
I’d just like to say I have been looking forward to this since you talked about last month. Right now I don’t have a lot to look forward to. Thank you so much for this. 🧶❤️
I had chained 100 in advance, so another 95 + 3 wasn't too difficult. I always find doing that first row into the chain a bit fiddly, but it seemed to go quicker than usual this time. Was still slow compared to your speed Anja. Now that there is more to hold it is going quicker still (for me, that is) and I am now into row 3!
My favourite video(s)- the cal !!!!! I absolutely loved making this gorgeous blanket and would love to win that beautiful Hiya hiya hook set!! Have never used them, they look wonderful!!👌 Thank you Anja ♥️ for the chance and Congratulations on the 60.000 subscribers!! On to the next 60.000!!!🎉🎉🎈🎉🎈🎉🎉
I have completed part 1 today. I’m using a 3.5 hook, and I’ve just started my 2nd ball and few rows back. I’ve really enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to the embellishment part on Wednesday.
Finally finished, just in time for the embellishments. After the sixth row I was fine. Crochet 2 rows ripped back 1. Crochet 3 rows rip back 2. For some reason I was anxious. But there it is..... Looking forward till Friday.!!!
Got my Meadow Green yarn and excited to start! Anna was also my Grandma's name and today is my husband's birthday! Did I see red velvet cake? My favorite! Take care!
I love this blanket. I had already started doing it but I am doing it with the small squares in white and 2 shades of grey and a grey fleece throw on the back. I'm nervous about machine sewing on a crocheted project. Maybe I'll just hand sew it. Wish me luck. Such a beautiful blanket.
Diana, I'm glad you joined Ophelia Talks. You will enjoy Anja.......her voice is so relaxing. Plus she is amazing with that crochet hook. She has beautiful tutorials. I am so excited about this CAL. 💜
A note of caution for those who want to make their blanket larger or smaller!!!!! Although this part of the blanket is a multiple of 8 plus 3 (24 x 8 + 3 = 195) other sections of the blanket MIGHT need a different multiple - still 195 stitches though. Thus there is a possibility that adding or deducting multiples of 8 might not fit other sections!
Hi, I want to start this blanket - it’s beautiful, thank you! Would you tell me what the multiple is for this pattern? I’d like to determine the size for mine.
Completely loved this CAL and learned loads along the way, including lots of patience after having to rectify numerous of mistakes, 🙃🤪. Would definitely give it a go again, especially if I won the HiyaHiya giveaway xx
Enjoying this. Thank you for sharing your family history! FYI: I crocheted 🧶 21 and a half rows with one ball of yarn using a G - 4.0 mm hook. 👍🏻 Love it. Since I’m not on Facebook I will try to send you a photo via email. I am using the yarn colors from your full poncho CAL.
I really, really would love to win the lovely Hiya Hiya Hook set ...and with them i can do another Ode to Anna Blanket! Keeping my fingers crossed!! :)
I think it could work but would it not be too fine for baby? This is sturdy when they play with it and gives them warmth! Thanks for watching my video Janet Peddie and keep crocheting. Anja x
Hi Anja, I've finished the baby cot blanket I'm very pleased with how it came out. Lots of unpicking and redoing but finally done it. Now I've started a big one for a single bed this too will be for charity. Would of loved to have shown you the end project. Not sure how. Have a great day. I love this pattern. ❤
Hi Anja. My first CAL and first blanket. Had to redo chain because mine measured 47 inches! I’m using the exact yarn and a 3.5 hook. It’s still longer and chain is too tight compared to next five rows. I think I will begin again. Can I possibly start with less chains? I like my work loose and don’t know what I should do. I just need a little help please. I don’t use Facebook or Twitter.
@Amy Joy I find that using a larger hook for the chain then back down to the regular size for the actual crochet prevents the chain being tighter than the rest of the crochet. i.e. 4.5 mm for the chain and4 mm for the crochet.

Hi Anja, finally got my dk yarn just in time for the CAL. I was able to follow your instructions using a 3.5 mm hook, but my final measurement came out at 44” or 112cm. Do I need to go down to a 3.0mm hook? That would be a tight blanket. Please help!
Kathy D Thank you Kathy. I was going by the measurements on the written pattern that was on the blog, but after watching the video again, I’m on point! Looking good so far! Thanks again!
How many yards and what weight of yarn for the main color of blanket please. I would like to give this a try. I’m new to this channel. Thank you in advance.

@Colleen Misner I would chain 35 and put a marker in that 35th stitch to mark the corner, then chain a further 3. Total chain would be 38 - 4 repeats of 8 + 6. Proceed as in Anja's tutorial, but only do 17 rows and fasten off. Repeat this for as many squares as required. These squares can be sewn or crocheted together to suit.
I have to laugh...… three years ago I got cold feet about doing a blanket that called for a chain of 115...….and now I'm going 'yeah, no problem' about doing a chain of 198! And I'm now on row 6!!!!
Hi @burcusindirgili4642, you need to follow the stitch multiple to work out how many extra you need, and to make it longer, just keep going, add some rows to each week maybe! Thank you, Anja x
I don’t know if anyone else is having trouble but I am! I ripped it out and I’m on my third try and it’s still not right! 195 stitches plus 3 going to 6th st from hook etc. it’s not right and I’ve counted everything
Try placing a stitch marker every 20 chain up to 180 chain, then make another 15 chain to 195 and place a stitch marker to mark the corner. Another 3 chain has now to be made, but place another marker in the second of these three - this will indicate the last stitch of the second row. Once the chain is complete (and you should now have 198 chain) make a double crochet (US terms) in the 6th chain from hook (which is 2 chains to the left of the leftmost stitch marker)
I had the same issue 4 times. I ended up one chain short every time (i had only 96 little spaces instead of 97). I frogged and recounted, used stitch markers etc finally instead of starting over a 5th time i just sortof created a funky extra chain and put my last DC in there. Only I will know that its fudged. It did torment me though lol

@Colleen Misner I would chain 35 and put a marker in that 35th stitch to mark the corner, then chain a further 3. Total chain would be 38 - 4 repeats of 8 + 6.
