I'm really glad you have this channel. So many people review these stupid expensive guitars that most people have no business buying. But there are a ton of enthusiasts who just want quality instruments at a good price. Good stuff man
I’m one of those people that have no right…😢 I have found that some cheaper guitars are just as good, there is a lot of hype searching for tone. This guy is pretty honest in his reviews.
In mexico, I saw classic guitars being made by hand in villages. The sight is still in my head from when I was a kid. Wish I could bring a load of them and sell them here in the USA one day.
Those people are already on the internet and doing it themselves. and they ain't cheap anymore. The power of the internet. Although they deserve to be paid for their hard work.
For a long while I never gave classical guitars any thought. My mom had an old classical guitar that I tried to pick up as a young teen to learn how to play, and the wide neck strongly put me off, and it was a couple years later that I tried a steel string guitar and had a much better experience. So I've always avoided the classical guitar because of those memories, but lately I've found that I really dig the tone, especially when it comes to finger style playing. 🤘
I've played a steel string for many years, but these days I have and prefer a nylon string. Sometimes a steel string can be too brassy, too tinny, too resonant. A nylon string has such a clean and clear "plucked" sound.
Classicals with pick-ups are way cool, and a cut-away, nice !! Playing with strings is fun. Hard tension strings will change the sound. Changing the saddle will change the sound. And with nylon strings, you don't have to take everything off, just loosen the strings and slide the saddle out, fit the alternate. Same on adjusting the action. I have each, classical, parlor, and dreadnaught. They all have their places, and depends on mood and other folks you are noodling around with. Always best to have one classical on hand :)
I just purchased a Hola for $150.00 that is identical to this guitar except mine is not electric....! Mine has a walnut fingerboard and walnut bridge the saddle and nut are not plastic they are made of a fake bone.....! When I was on the road touring in the 80s I drag around a Gibson nylon string and played it in my hotel rooms...🎵❤️ And last night I got to listening to some old Willie Nelson songs I had recorded using that guitar, and started missing my nylon string Gibson.....! So I ordered a guitar just like this one it will be here in a week I’m glad that you reviewed it because I wanted to hear somebody really play it... ! The guitar sounds really nice it seems to have decent sustain for a nylon string I’m sure the mixer you were running it through is keeping the guitar honest I love your channel, once again thanks for the great review......🎶🙏🙏🎵 Jeff Galey, ( The Jeff Galey Channel )
I could listen to that all day. Awesome playing!! What I love about your videos is that they make a great reference for all the different guitars you reviewed.
@@joebodynobody764, I have an Eko Ranger 12 from '67. Bought for 100usd from someone who didn't knew anything about guitars. It is an incredible instrument. I don't know about the new generation.
I've watched this so many times, I want it! I don't see the Ebay listing for it and when i went to the site, I didn't know what to look at for price. I want it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I bought this in 2008 or ‘09 during my gypsy jazz punk faze. It’s an absolutely amazing guitar but I lost it in 2019 in a cash and guitar trade. I traded it along with 600 bucks for an American Martin OMC-28e that’s since been discontinued and is worth a fortune. Call it a blessing and a curse because I have not played much guitar consistently since then. All of my other guitars are steel strings electrics and a couple of steel acoustics, Martin included. However , two days ago a good friend gifted me a Yamaha C40 classical. Just a plain Jane really, but extremely well made, and the magic is starting to come back. And yes, I’m very tempted to replace my Lucero, especially now, since it’s on sale at GC for only 150 bucks.
The sell these on Amazon and even Kmart's online site too. If bought under the Indiana brand name it's comes with some sort of 10 year warranty on the guitar and a one year warranty on the electronics. That's pretty sweet for such a low priced guitar!
Nice, when I first watched one of your videos I was expecting them all to be shreddy. So it is really nice that you tastefully pick music that suits the guitar your reviewing. Not that you would go mad on an acoustic, but it's nice that your versatile and play a lot of different styles and seem to enjoy whatever it is your playing :). I have 6 electric guitars covering most bases but haven't been tempted to try an acoustic type guitar till I started watching your channel a few weeks ago.
Good playing. As for the guitar. I've had mine for twenty years and I really do like it. I like the way it plays and sounds. With out the amp it's a quite guitar. Good for small rooms. As a classical guitar it's not. The neck has a nice taper and fits smaller hands well. Plug this thing in and you can make it sound like any other electric guitar.
Agree. In 2018 every one can buld a nice fuitar very cheap, we looks only the logo. Anyway I like you try a Eko Mia. An amazing Italian guitar with fast lock adjustment. Is the best acoustic folk guitar ever made,
I usually have an open mind when it comes to music. Yes, I like the sound of a classical guitar. I have always liked Spanish style music. I have never played one tho. I have only played the traditional style metal strings when it comes to acoustic guitars. As visual another great video.
Great video... It sounded great. Classical guitars are cool. I need one. I like the Classical guitar. You and the Guns and guitar guy have the most useful channels online for practical guitar stuff. Thanks for that. I haven't had a chance to catch up on all of your videos. Wondering if you have any recommendations for a small club combo amp? I actually prefer Solid State. Not modelling. I will have to look on your channel. I am looking hard at the Orange 35 watt 1 x 10 combo. All analogue with great gain. I play mostly blues based hard rock, and some 80s metal, 70s rock, etc. Some blues, so clean is not the main goal of the amp, but I don't want to have to use pedals. I prefer amp gain. maybe a reverb and or delay pedal for lead and maybe a boost and a wah and I'm rocking.
The neck is wider because nylon string vibration is wider than steel strings . This limits the buzzing off your fingers the strings flapping off of them , just an add note here . Nice guitar good video , worth the money great woods used in this guitar . Bass wood is light has great sound the fact that there is no ply involved Wow !
Excellent video. I love what you played in the intro, and the guitar looks like a deal. It's great that you focus on affordable gear. There are many, many guitar channels, but this one is unique. Well done, and thanks.
With nylon strings, you can get away with the high action of a cheaper guitar. The #1 thing is intonation. If it doesn't have good intonation, there is nothing you can usually do that won't cost you more than the guitar is worth.
I think it sounds awesome. I've heard of Eleca before but never knew how to pronounce it. I like both acoustic and classical, I have both and dabble a bit in classical music.
Wow what a price point and you can plug it in! I liked the tone overall. Certainly there are other classical guitars with better wood so resonance changes. But for the price it is a steal!
Thanks for the reviews, dude. They're super helpful. In order to save even more money, I recommend buying rechargable batteries. If anyone is trying to find a budget 8-string guitars, I recommend checking out Micheal Kelly's 8-string selection.
Amazing! Bought one GC-1Nat for my kid learning to play guitar. Sounds okay for $130. I’m just a bit disappointed that the spruce top I got has 2 line of wood grain that is darker shade about 1” long. it looks like a scratch from afar. I didn’t noticed because it was dark in guitar store and no returns accepted. Anyway, just lesson to all to double check and inspect. I just hate it when some blemish like that is allowed to be used as guitar top, even passed the quality control of factory.
