I've fished scumfrogs for 25 years. Never disappointed. Plus tons of pike where I fish and have lost frogs on their first cast. Which really sucks with a $10 bait

I love Scum frogs! I won't waste my money on pretty/realistic $10+ frogs. They are just fisherman catchers rather than fish catchers.

Scum frog is the original frog lure. Made in my hometown of Columbus, Mississippi. Really durable, lightweight bc made to go across Lilly pads, grass and "scum".

Guaranteed way of getting a frog or any top water fish is to go out around either dusk, or more specifically overcast days or before a storm hits. Fish weeds, but focus on the edges and pockets in matts. Pause before and after the pocket. You'll get alot of blow ups around those areas. Remember to wait to set the hook too.

Almost critical to to have braid and a stiff rod to frog fish.

I use them exclusively not because of the price but the hookup ratio is excellent and super durable, super sharp hooks set at the correct angle combined with a super soft body they are killer ...I have one that pulled in around 40 bass and still doesn’t have any marks on it , only thing is to trim the legs 1/4-1/2” to prevent short strikes .
What lake are you fishing in the video?

I've used a handful of frogs, and keep coming back to Scum Frogs because of the hookup percentage. I like the Teckels (with the metal blades) for a change of pace, but Scum frogs get more strikes and have the best hookup ratio.

I used Scum frogs a ton last year and they work pretty well. Definitely not nearly as durable as SPRO or Booyah frogs because they tend to rip at the nose area and the whole frog slides down the shank of the hook. They do without a doubt catch fish though!

Harrison Hoge Super Frog was my all-time favorite. The new version made by Panther Martin is called the Superior Frog. Solid body casts like a bullet, good for long flipping. Amazingly weedless despite the way it looks. Single hook pointing down. The older version of the Scum Frog used to fill with water and tear easily. I haven't tried the newer ones yet, but after watching this I may give it a try.

Scum frogs are the only 1s we use up here in northern wisconsin..only problem is that there are musky in almost every body of water up here and they do a number on the frogs..those paddle tail 1s that you were talking about are very productive up here, until a musky or northern amputates the legs lol

Scum Frogs have always been my main squeeze. A dab of garlic oil on the back above the hook points will add scent and help keep it from snagging the rubber. The glow in the dark one actually works well on stained water.

    • @Tikimohn

I did that because I was having hookup ratios. They weren't inhaling it and I figured that nearly 90 degree bend, sitting so tight to the body wasn't allowing me to dig into the short strikers. Increased my hookup ratio, but I prefer other frogs, just trim the skirts a lil usually.

As someone who fishes all around chicago, i can confirm the Scum Frogs can be money. I have a box full of all different brands of frogs, and when you don't need the heavier weight to make more noise in a thick mat, they are amazing. As a side note, with the normal Scum Frogs, if you want to add just a little more weight, you can put a glass rattle or two, maybe even a small split shot in through that hole in the bottom, and it adds some weight and makes a little more noise. PS: you have me jealous, i need to know what lake that is. ~Wadlo

Back in the day your only option was a Snagproof frog. Cut the legs off, fill the body with pieces of worm for extra weight and add some worm rattles and divide a spinnerbait skirt into two legs and thread it in one leg hole and out the other. They all work. Still like the ole modified Snagproof the best though.
