Not only the master vocalist of rock & roll, but people often miss the fact that the entire band was a "who's who" of legendary musicians. Jeff Beck, Brian Setzer, Jimmy Page, Nile Rodgers, Dave Weckl... and on, and on.
I had SOOOO forgotten this. #1984
Robbie Blunt on the Guitar!
Did not know all those musicians were involved.?
40 years later and I'm still waiting on Honeydrippers Vol. 2
@@derricklafrance9440Can you just imagine how great that album would be?????
❤anyone still listening to this in 2023? One of the best songs Ever!!!😂😂
Still listening to this kick @$$ jam in 2024.
Also listening in 2024. You can't not listen to Percy!
and you can add 2024 Just sayin and it still kicks ass
Amen!
Moi toujours 🙏
Man, did robert Plant get into the groove of Elvis !! MAN!!
Rockin at Midnight and Sea of Love -- need I say more? They're both so so good!!!
Yes indeed, especially Jimmy’s amazing solo in “Sea of Love” with his B-bender guitar. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I haven't heard this song in 40 years. OMG, Robert Plant's pipes blow me away. Such an incredible talent! Love this SO MUCH ❤️
I caught a show of Robert and the Honeydrippers with SRV opening for them. Still one of the best shows I attended live.
That must have been incredible. 👍
Sounds like a show of a lifetime, which would top a 1973 concert I attended. Cheech and Chong, Santana, and the Rolling Stones! Biggest letdown, Santana did all instrumentals! It was a benefit concert for Nicaragua earthquake victims!
Who TF would want to open for srv? Especially the last few years when he had hits. His music was changing, and nobody could follow him
@@shable1436 SRV was just another average musician who is now considered a great musician only because he croaked in a helicopter crash. Anyone sould follow him and zoom right by. He was overrated ONLY because he died in a helicopter crash. If they never happened, no one would have heard of him or remembered his name,.
@@tonys4396not true. A lot of guitar players admire srv superior guitar work.
It's almost 40 years later and I still think of this as Robert Plant's "new stuff."
Lol 😆 totally
Lol me too
me too
Same! I loved it in the day!
Haha!!! Me too!
This video is so cool.
Those Hep Cats dancing during the sax solo make me smile everytime. They were feeling that music. Love it!
Jeff Beck's burning that solo up!!!! 🖤🤘🍻
Oh yes…gives me goosebumps!
Setzer
That's Jimmy page n Jeff Beck each taking a solo not Brian Setzer tho I'm a huge fan of him as well.
Jeff Beck my guitar god
Now would be a great time for another Honeydrippers album! Show the kids how it's done Mr. Plant.
Plant and producer Ahmet Ertegun had talked about doing a follow-up, but when Ertegun died about 12 years ago the project was shelved permanently. Too bad.
Excellent song everyday wake me!
I would love that!
Wouldn't that be awesome 👍
No shit man, my same thought!! I had a ton of respect for Plant when he did this stuff!!!
There's no denying Robert Plant has a wonderful crooner voice for songs like this.
He voice keeps getting better, more soulful.
That is what made me impressed 30 years ago. Now I have "discovered" his work with Led Zeppelin and his solo work including the album with Allison Krauss. I now consider him one of my all time favorite singers. I could listen to him sing anything.
@@creatinotionchannel2680 Led Zeppelin was a very rare combination of talent. Give a listen to them covering Traveling River Blues.
My neighbors listen to this song all the time. Whether they want to or not!
Swing those hips as only you can do, Robert ❤😊❤
We need some Good rockin at midnight now more than ever, can we just have some fun again!
Well said
Yes we do at midnight 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂👍
Somebody ought to open up a club and play tunes like this. People would come!
There was a night club in my area that played 50's music. I wanted so much to go. Well almost in my area. It was a couple of bus rides away. That is my most favorite music!@@yobringitondown5565
Yeah!!!!! Great Rock n Roll music 🎶!!!!!!! I'm 70 still Rock n Roll!!!!!!!!
The voice of the '70s meets the classics of the '50s. Excellent combo.
1940s.
Reminds me of the gang fights in Clifton NJ when I was young and stupid
Still rockin in 2024 😎
Happy birthday August 20, 2024 to Robert Plant. The best voice in rock
RIP Elvis August 16, 1977
Here's retro music that won't change the world, just plant beck nile rodgers page having supergroup fun...And so am I!
Robert is an unbelievably great singer. Absolutely brilliant.
You know he was voted Best Male Rock Singer multiple times!
Great video performance of a classic 'rocker!'
I still have this Honneydroppers LP!🎶🖤💃🏽🕺🏽
Holy Wow! Hearing this for the first time in almost 40 years, I am transported right back to my college apartment about 1984, I think. I worked on the college radio station when this came out! Great tune. awesome memories.
I would like to dedicate this to my late husband Charles, this was his favorite song, miss you and love you so much!
Only 5.6K likes in 10 years??? Even two left feet like me, I cant stop dancing to this grooving song!
The One and Only ROBERT PLANT... His unmistakable voice and rhythm! Superb
This reminds me of the cold, snowy winter of '84 - '85
Capturing the spirit of the 1950s in the 1980s...good song!
He could read the label off a can of peas and still sound good !
What a voice.
What an exceptional talent this man is.
...sure wish there'd been a sequel to this wonderful album!
Lovin this. Back in the day, 30 years ago, my stereo was kick ass and I would put this album on, crank it the __ up, and go across the street from my house to my neighbors and we would watch our kid's jumping around and having the best time dancing to this tune. And, ironically, my Calico cat was named Caledonia long before I heard Mr. Plant sing it. Awesome job Honeydrippers. Thanks Paul for your pep.
My favorite honeydrippers song. Got that good big band sound. Great beat and kicken horns.
Mine too!
amazing guitar work. some nice heavy blues tones in there.
That's Jeff Beck playing all that great guitar, here is the version from the record with almost a minute more of Jeff at the end of the song..so good!

Damm hard to believe that’s the same guy who sings A WHOLE LOTTA LOVE
A testament to his prowess and versatility!!
Super beautiful rocking music !!!!
Thank you Mr. Plant for the tribute to ELVIS, awesome job!!!
Wait, I thought that this was a tribute to Roy Brown? He was the one who originally sang and wrote the song in the 1940s.
@@RockNRollSurf You are absolutely correct!
From 70s hippy heavy rock n roll, to greaser music. Robert plant is one of the greatest prime examples of crossing over to different genres of rock n roll. Never expected this from him or ever pictured him dancing like Elvis lol
Love any project Robert is involved in what a class act and a true master vocalist
Elvis was one of Robert Plant's major influences. It was that 50s rock and roll that got him into music in the first place.
Cool to see Robert doin' his Elvis imitation.
N Domitus very cool, so good, tall cool one
The horn section omg!
My first time digging big band style music.
love Beck's solo, no fuss, simple but effective...great track
showed my 80 yr old dad he loved it tappin his foot to it love robert plants version
This sounds INCREDIBLE through my earbuds right now. ❤️🤘🎶🎶🎶
I love this song it reminds of the 1950s that's way before my time still love the rhythm and they Robert Plant sings it!! Love the video!!!
Still rockin' this in 2020...corona be damned
In 2021 too
Lets go Brandon and Brandy!
Robert Plant does big band. Me encanta.
Such an awesome cover... every instrument on point with tempo and pitch perfect..especially stand-up bass n Sax
[Young] Dave Weckl on drums! Great tune. Thanks for sharing.
The Honeydrippers as a project was five to ten years ahead of its time. If they’d come out after “Swingers” or “Pulp Fiction”, the nostaglia over this style of music would have carried them further.
Love it! Robert Plant in his Suit and Slightly Shorter Hair period. Love him any way he's dressed! :)
Credit due to Robert Plant on this, of course. But Jeff Beck plays guitar here. Jimmy Page joined on a couple of songs for this EP too. Incredible backing band with Nile Rogers and Paul Schaffer.
There is always a good battle when it comes to rocking at midnight.
Some things never get old,
They get even better with time,
Loving your music is one
Loving. Is another
Rockin at midnight...
I REMEMBER 1984 GOOD ROC,KING AT MIDNIGHT BY ROBERT PLANT WE SEEM TO BE IN 1959 LISTENING TO ROCK A ROLL IN A DANCE HALL WE WERE TO BE AT HOME AT MIDNIGHT IN 1959 THOSE WERE THE DAYS CRUISING IN THOSE 1950 CARS OH THE LEGEND,,,,,,,,
Started singing this for my mother as a little boy.
She loves this version
I grew up in Venice Beach, L.A.🏄♂️ and caught ALL the acts come thru and play The FABULOUS FORUM🙆♂️ in Inglewood, Ca.🏀 Sir Paul and WINGS in '75💙 courtesy of Big Bros!💪 The Mighty ZEP in '77 at age 16!🙉 Then the Honeydrippers in '84!🕺💃 And Plant's "Now and Zen" Tour in '87 with the Future Mother of our children!💝 A Fortunate Musical Life I've had.🙏 Amen.💙
He apparently did this cos' his mum asked him to !! Plant does it a treat, what a man !
Yep. Nostalgia galore. My first kiss to this song. Love Zeppelin love this too
With the genius of Nile Rodgers
Absolutely awesome song...oh yaa
О, Боже! До чего талантлив этот человек! Он способен на все и все стили у него получаются блестяще!
Love it! Fun, get up & move song. Feel Good music!
LETS GO BACK TO 1959 WITH THE HONEYDRIPPERS GOOD ROCKING TONITE ROCK GOD THIS WHAT ROBERT PLANT IS LONG LIVE TH3 LEGEND,,,,,
The king of swing right here!!
So great, and really not often mentioned enough today. And what a great recording. The original vinyl is just great, back when music was mastered properly and not destroyed with dynamic compression to make it "louder."
Music! Real MUSIC! Didn't think such a thing existed anymore
Im dancin with ya..... go go I C U LQQKinin at me flippin out !!!!!
what a great tune, my mother used to play this album nonstop when i was 10-11
I have the 12" EP of this buried somewhere in the bowels of my house... classic tune indeed. I remember hearing this on the radio back in late '84 and my friends and I commented that the lead vocalist sure sounded like Robert Plant... came to find out that it WAS!!!!!
I love this song!
grew up with my parents listening to this shiv...LOVE IT!!! man I only wish Palmer and Plant did a 2nd album....
Ummm
Robert Plant has recorded more albums post-LZ than with Zep.
Happy Birthday Robert ! August 20th 2021-Shine on Always .Love ya !
It's 11:49p.m. in Puerto Rico, and out of nowhere I got a craving to see the Rockin' at Midnight video with all that jumpin' and dancin'! Found this!!
Been a long time since last time I saw it ( got it taped on VHS from TV! ) and I got a call to mind just thinking of a sweet baby, the one I've never met...
"Open your arms, baby, let my love come running in
It's been a long time, been a long time
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time!" -from Rock And Roll
The more that I discover you and your music for the first time, I'm totally in awe and blown away. You are sooo versitile.....Can't put this man in a box.... Lest we forget the original by Roy Brown. The best version. That said, this is a mighty fine tribute
The Metal Man kills it singing Rockabilly. Awesome!
Excellent, Robert.

In 2018 & beyond, as well, my friend!
Even better in 2019😜😉
2020 bruh
How can anyone be depressed after watching/hearing this!
Robert Plant best singer, best front man, another Grand Slam!
So, so, cool. Just as great now as all those years ago. 😄🎸🎷🎤
Just timeless....
My dad love this song.
great vid. love it when a man dances!
Robert Plants tribute to the roots of Rock N Roll to which he was obviously a great student of, in particular, borrowing from James Brown, for whom a Led Zep tune was dedicated to.
Great film footage!
Damn right, these dancers are awesome!💃🏽🕺🏽
The Rob Squad just reacted to Sea of Love. I told them they have to react to this one! They are a great young couple. They bring music to younger people who maybe wouldn't have listened. I love this song!
