You should use the Measure quick app it can connect to a variety of different wireless probes with the capability of taking readings on 2 circuits it's a great diagnostic tool and it's a lot more palatable than the testo app. It works with I manifold, testo and some others but the testo's work well for me and they aren't so expensive.
I started on Wednesday on Spring pms. Started out using testo smart probes. After 10 minutes I went back in the truck and grabbed the iConnect. I'm giving the testo smart probes to a friend to test out. I'm staying with iConnect.
hey Stephen . I am a service tech res and light com 14 years, I work out of Columbia SC and have been watching your videos for a couple of months. I am about to purchase the imanifold kit because of how you apply it I can see my weakness which is duct work. Thanks for the education and for the entertainment .... bet you can't wait for this Carolina heat lol.
+michael cole i don't think you can go wrong with iManifold if you've been in the trade that long. i think it will probably help you see even more once you get the hang of it! I'm not looking forward to hot attics this summer... but it pays the bills so we go, right?
+Larry Cole thanks Larry by the way we are number 4 in trane equipment so far this year lol you being with trane I thought you'd like that.. Cassell Brothers HVAC ..
Definitely right Rardon with due time things will get updated just like the other one but I see where u r coming from already owning iconnect and sporlan.
Stephen, All of these Wireless tools are great but as a technician of 33 years I will stick with my iManifold the more I use it the more I find nothing stacks up.
you're absolutely right +Larry Cole the more i use the iConnect the less i find a place to use other systems. I'll be hard pressed to convert if something better ever comes along, i'm talking better not cheaper cause we've got that with the Testo stuff.
I recently purchased a Testo kit out of curiousity. With that kit I purchased 2-115i, 2-549i, 2-605i, 410i, 405i, 805i and a 510i. I was planning on making some site visits in a couple of different states, and wanted something I could trust, not wanting to rely on what the local contractor might have or might not have. I took the Testo pieces I needed to calculate total system capacity, and hooked them up to a heat pump that was running in a psychrometric test cell to see how close the calculations from the testo units were to the test cell computers. Test cell showed 25616 btu's and the testo rang in at 24889 btu's. Refrigerant temps were within .2 degrees F and pressures within .5 psig. My only complaint is the distance limitation due to low power blue tooth, if I could make a change it would be to have a longer span to measure indoor and outdoor conditions at the same time, and for a vendor to incorporate a current and voltage sensor into the mix.
+Stephen Rardon (HVAC with Stephen Rardon) it is, for the price they work great for refrigeration calls. You need to do an Iconnect vid on a walk in cooler with multiple coils. 👍
i like the capability of Bluetooth for the testo anemometer and monometer. allows one to get away with toting the iconnect box around. however for gauges i will wait for the new sporlans to replace my testo 550s.
+Phillip Joy Sporlan is great for a quick pressure and SC/SH check to see if further checking is necessary and the iConnect gives you the full view of what's happening. they work great as a team!
the hours suck the heat sucks but the money is always good .... I have always felt confident in my diagnosis but when it came to ductwork I seem to second guess at times so having this tool will make me a better tech and my customers getting what they pay for.
+Stephen Rardon (HVAC with Stephen Rardon) thanks will do.. I have been familiarising myself with the software it seems a little time consuming but I guess the more you use it the quicker and easier it should get.
+michael cole to me it's faster than writing everything down on a note pad that will only get soaked in sweat this summer! then again i used the app for a long time before the iManifold even came out so i had a lot of practice initially. the more you use it that faster you get and it becomes second nature...
my Q hvac hooks to almost all wireless tools and condenses the info into a easy to see/understand format. the testo tools are accurate and whencoupeled with this app it is easy to understand.
The biggest problem I had with my Testo 550...was the wiring on the temp probes was garbage... I used the manifold rarely... I was so careful with the probes not to bump the plugs into the manifold. I had to buy three clamps due to the plugs sticking out like sore thumbs on the manifold. Testo does make wireless clamp probes...But they won't link with the manifold..This would be the perfect solution for me... But Testo wouldn't sell as many replacement clamps. I even spoke to a Testo rep at a supply house... I asked why don't they just offer a software update on the manifold to use the wireless bluetooth clamps as the manifold is already bluetooth capable? Just got the run around...She also knows why... Less sales on the clamps...So I sold it... Very disappointed.
Issue that I have with Testo smart probes, is that they can never stay connected for more than a minute, can't they come up with their own WiFi signal like those used with some Drones"
I (almost) bought the testo set as it is less expensive in comparison to some other sets, I ended up getting the fieldpiece sman 460, it has the micron gauge built in and is wireless as well
All the videos I have been watching. Very good BTW. I own sporlan smart tool, Testo and YJ Mantooth. No one has done a video on Mantooth like the other Bluetooth devices. Just wondering.
The general feeling of the guys I know on UA-cam is that the Mantooth is junk. I'm not interested in spending my own money on it just to do a review. How do you like it compared to the others you own?
Stephen Rardon I've had them for over a year now. The bluetooth range is better than Sporlan. YJ just updated the app a few days ago. i do like the fact that i do not have to add a tee for charging. The updated app has improved the way the gauges connect. When i get time i would like to do a pressure and temp review. Also lithium usb charging no changing of batteries.
Hi Stephen I’ve watched a couple of your videos about testo I know your saying you didn’t use it a lot but are they good quality and is the app easy to use
The probes are good enough but the wireless range is poor. The app isn’t horrible but measureQuick.com is a much better app and works with a wide variety of probes from many manufacturers.
Hi Steve I’m from the uk I just recently purchased the testo 115 clamp thermometer I’ve tested it against my Kane flue gas analyser which has differential temp on it and the testo is out on hot it’s 3degree centigrade and cold it’s 5 have you experienced this before or have I got a dodgy testo cheers bud
Ha ha ha ha Kidding me right. What’s funny is my analogues that can do the same thing as the testo. Sorry to say but all these accessory sounds like toys and my probe is better than your probe but if it’s my understanding if you’re doing residential HVAC the goal is don’t take all the Time in the world to play with your toys I think the main mission is troubleshoot one time fix collect the money go to your next call. I’m not knocking it but if that’s your thing OK I get it but yet again I’ve been doing industrial refrigeration for 40 years And I’ve never had a need to use a Bluetooth probe especially when you’re trying to diagnose a ODR valve but again that’s my opinion you know what they say about opinions
Remember this video was posted before mQ was as strong and definitely before Fieldpiece came on board with mQ. Today I’m mostly using Fieldpiece and Testo proves with mQ and haven’t used my iConnect in forever!
I think a lot comes down to connectivity, my shop gave me some yellow jacket mantooths, sure it's Bluetooth, (but don't dare walk around a corner with iPad or iPhone.) and if working on a bigger commercial unit, the mantooths have cumbersome wires attached which limit usage. Stephen, you seem to have owned alot of different new technology's, which new manifolds are the best. I know analog which previous poster says sticks to them, but there is a lot of time wasted checking dry/wet bulb, delta t, static, and cfm, going up and down stairs makes no money.
+mychoclabwinston for the money you can't beat the Testo Smart Probes but for capability you simply can't beat the iConnect system! i get a lot of crap for promoting the iManifold system but you simply can't deny that it's the most capable.
+Stephen Rardon (HVAC with Stephen Rardon) If you can it would be great Appion is a new brand in Australia but from what I have been told it's apparently a very good brand in America
+Stephen Rardon (HVAC with Stephen Rardon) Ah, thats great! I love your vids a lot because I'm very interessted into heatpumps (air conditioners,...) and after a little bit searching on YT for vids about heatpumps, I found your Chanel! but there's only one f#cking problem... Im austrian (my English s not the best) so I understand ca. 50% or less 😢😢😢😢. and there is no german YTer who makes videos about refrigeration,...) thats sooo unfair!!! :,(
Yes they both have there place. I would buy them again. Great tools
I’m on the wagon with mQ already for sure! I prefer the Fieldpiece probes though I use the Testo 510i probes for static and gas pressure.
I started on Wednesday on Spring pms. Started out using testo smart probes. After 10 minutes I went back in the truck and grabbed the iConnect. I'm giving the testo smart probes to a friend to test out. I'm staying with iConnect.
never tried the Testo wireless but have used there other products never had an issue
doing a great job Stephen
All makes sense. Rock on Steven!
I still like Testo
Sounds like your breaking up with your girlfriend lol

Air Dynamics the Testo 770-3 meter is coming soon to allow current and voltage to be read. Glad they're all working out for you!
I'm holding out on the Iconnect until it comes with a robot to clean coils and up size the return air duct. Lol
Hard to compete with the price for testo

thanks +michael cole

i see that the i connect is the best out there right now but i use the app with all my other tools for measurements right now trying to get it soon

Go for the iManifold. It works great. A bit on the expensive side but definitely worth it
+MrChay90 yep, recently I’ve been using the Fieldpiece probes and very happy with wireless range on most residential properties
good video and info, thank you Stephen!
Issue that I have with Testo smart probes, is that they can never stay connected for more than a minute, can't they come up with their own WiFi signal like those used with some Drones"
Sporlan will probably just add micron gauge.... maybe the indoor temps too ? At least that's what I hope for.
I (almost) bought the testo set as it is less expensive in comparison to some other sets, I ended up getting the fieldpiece sman 460, it has the micron gauge built in and is wireless as well
The thing I don’t like about their micron gauge is you can’t clean them. Good gauges though
iconnect, the way to go.
Not anymore!
great point. there's no reason to have many wireless digital gauges when one can pretty much do it all .
If you had a choice between Sporlans or Testo which would you choose
+ricky kellam right now Testo has Sporlan beat for capability and price

william Lauer battery life is good?
Ah buy testo and fieldpiece wireless that use two different apps. or just check unit as if two different units
Hi Stephen I’ve watched a couple of your videos about testo I know your saying you didn’t use it a lot but are they good quality and is the app easy to use
The probes are good enough but the wireless range is poor. The app isn’t horrible but measureQuick.com is a much better app and works with a wide variety of probes from many manufacturers.
sorry to see you get rid of them....but i get it!
i might end up getting it again down the road as i said +BK HVAC (Billy Knoth) but for now i just don't need it
Like I said...."i get it"....that was the reason I never really pursued getting one to much....
Please advise what Smart gauges should I get the best one with lot of options to help me charge correctly an HVAC system.
All 3 are first gen, right?
What is a good hvac tool kit
Hi Steve I’m from the uk I just recently purchased the testo 115 clamp thermometer I’ve tested it against my Kane flue gas analyser which has differential temp on it and the testo is out on hot it’s 3degree centigrade and cold it’s 5 have you experienced this before or have I got a dodgy testo cheers bud

Oh we know you have a iConnect!!! Your probably gonna do a report on this video!!!
It would only make him a little better if he did! So whats the problem?
field-piece hoseless with MeasureQuick app. done
Remember this video was posted before mQ was as strong and definitely before Fieldpiece came on board with mQ. Today I’m mostly using Fieldpiece and Testo proves with mQ and haven’t used my iConnect in forever!
@@StephenRardon That's why I never went with Imperial. They are the apple of testing tools. Sucks for them - the industry moved on without them.
@@StephenRardon So you bought more testo probes now that mQ is leading the way? So iConnect isn't as good as mQ?
How to connect 115i on tube more 40mm ?
let me guess, u sold the testo cos u don't work anymore with ac units
I think a lot comes down to connectivity, my shop gave me some yellow jacket mantooths, sure it's Bluetooth, (but don't dare walk around a corner with iPad or iPhone.) and if working on a bigger commercial unit, the mantooths have cumbersome wires attached which limit usage. TESTO👌
Hi, which systEm do you use for the 2 stage unit sytems..
What are you looking at ????
SteveDo you think Testo probes would stay connected if used inside a cooler and I was trying to connect with the cooler doors closed
+Scott Stoner I'd ask +Nor Cal
+Scott Stoner I'm almost certain a LE Blootooth signal won't cut it for that.
Scott Stoner signal will reach outside of small walkins and reach in, but not very far. I've been on top of a unit and left temp probe inside.
My buddy just bought a new Sporlan today for $350
+Jim Smith69 really!? Where??
I run 2 apps on my galaxy note
You sound like the teacher in a Charlie Brown movie. Throw some comparison or facts! Keep it real!
i thought i did, sorry to disappoint you
do you do automotive ac?
Hi Stephen
Off topic but have you or anyone you know tried the new appion digital gauges and app?
Can't seem to find any reviews about them
I haven't used them myself. Might see if I can get my hands on them so I can give an opinion
+Stephen Rardon (HVAC with Stephen Rardon)
If you can it would be great
Appion is a new brand in Australia but from what I have been told it's apparently a very good brand in America
+nixon i'll see what i can do!
You look like you are going to cry in start of this video!😄
If my wife would let me buy the I connect, then that's what I would have, but for now I'm rolling with the Testos. #Man on a leash 😎 lol
boo you almost kept me from getting my 605i to measure wet bulb and dry bulb. mayby you sold them cuz you didnt know how to use them
+Arnold Navarro there's nothing to using them i just don't have a need for them when i have the iManifold system.
you got a like from me ^^
thanks for watching +Dominik Z
+Stephen Rardon (HVAC with Stephen Rardon)
can u remember on me? I've got a little conversation with you in the live chat of a livestream you did :)

The facade of the house looks like a tin can 😂😂😂
Iconnect is dead
The iManifold software is definitely weaksauce but the hardware coupled with measureQuick is pretty damn awesome still.
Are you Amish? Just wondering about the odd facial hair.
I’m pretty sure I couldn’t be Amish and play with the tools I do, I just can’t stand a mustache 🤷♂️
Worst explaining of why you sold your test kit !!! Click bait at best .
What a waste of time!!!
