Hello; I have been watching your videos for a while ( almost a year) now on how to build a stand I have a 55 gallon tank that I got of FB marketplace; very good price; but haven’t been able to set it up due to not having a stand; and a filter; so basically my question is what is a good model you have built that you would recommend w/ doors and a good filter as well. I have turtles (2) not fish tho
Hey bro! I have a new 30 gallon tank and it’s 36inches long and 12.5 inches wide. Should I cut the wood 36.5 inches long and 13.5 wide? Just to give it extra cushion, I’m going to put a wood piece on the top as a cover so tank is sitting on it.
I think I saw a question on here that you asked asking about what nails or screws I would recommend but I can't seem to find it, I normally use two and a half inch number eight or number nine screws.
A very good tutorial, built mine just like this, I covered mine and installed a door. In 2022 I have about $200 in materials and a solid afternoon of work. Looks good and is solid but I saved $0.
When you do a full enclosure it can get a little more pricey but its way more sturdy and will last a lifetime as opposed to the particle board stands out there now
Your earlier stand build video made me want to build a riser/drawer to put under my 20 long and 10 gal tanks which are about the same height. They're on a sturdy wood credenza now, which is kind of low, and even sitting you don't get the full picture, hence my desire to build a riser for them and incorporate drawers, just because, you know, DRAWERS. LOL you can never have enough drawers especially with the plethora of tools and supplies needed for this hobby :-D
This was so helpful! I'm planning to build this for a 10G nano and was wondering if yellow pine wood would be appropriate, and what kind of wood species you used in this video?
Hi! I just need a stand to elevate my tank enough to create space to run tubing underneath it. Is there a way to utilize this design in that manner? If so any tips?
New to your channel here. Needing to build a stand for my 60 gallon. As long as we have 3/4” plywood on top to support the tank it does not need to sit directly on the frame for its weight?
I don't know if I would add feet to this stand necessarily, But you could get sheets of felt and cut it to fit along the bottom of the stand to provide a soft contacting surface between the wood and your floor It should prevent scratching
Great video! Do you have any videos or advice on modifying for a 150 gallon tank? 60”x24”. How did you calculate how much the stand would support? Thanks so much!
Essentially you would build it the same way but add vertical braces every two feet across the front and back as well as cross braces every two feet on the top and bottom shelves of the stand, general construction code has two by fours rated at a thousand pounds at the point of failure for each vertical 2x4

nice idea, thank you brother.
Legend mate that's great !
Question, how would I add a door to it so I can make the bottom shelf storage and hide the power cables etc ?
Go you your local hardware store and look for pocket cabinet hinges, these work great for putting doors on tank stands
@@TrafishAquaticsgreat stuff thanks,
Any chance you could do a video on how to do it with this exact stand ? I'm wondering with those thick drama how it will swivel to open?
Cheers mate
Do you have a FB of so message me at Travis Stevens, same profile poc as here and i can show you my one stand with cabinet doors and how these hinges work
Hello; I have been watching your videos for a while ( almost a year) now on how to build a stand I have a 55 gallon tank that I got of FB marketplace; very good price; but haven’t been able to set it up due to not having a stand; and a filter; so basically my question is what is a good model you have built that you would recommend w/ doors and a good filter as well. I have turtles (2) not fish tho
Would you happen to know how to measure how many gallons of a tank you have? Have one just laying around not sure on gallons
You can use this to make it easy
www.firsttankguide.net/calculator.php
Great video and great design. Where'd you learn it?
I went to school for engineering and this is what i came up with
Hey bro! I have a new 30 gallon tank and it’s 36inches long and 12.5 inches wide.
Should I cut the wood 36.5 inches long and 13.5 wide? Just to give it extra cushion, I’m going to put a wood piece on the top as a cover so tank is sitting on it.
Yep I would definitely add that extra half inch especially because the corners of the 2x4s are rounded to make sure you get a good seating
@@TrafishAquatics damn quick ass response!!! Thank you a ton man. Wishing you the best & your fam 🙏🏽💪🏽
Thanks man wishing you and yours the best as well!
When you do a full enclosure it can get a little more pricey but its way more sturdy and will last a lifetime as opposed to the particle board stands out there now
@Jesse what size tank did you make it for?
@@jacobg7966 67 gallon acrylic
So far this is the plan liking the most, do you think it'll be good for a 60 gallon? Same dimensions as a 55 just a little taller..
How would you suggest adding a shelf of some sort to house fish accessories?
Your earlier stand build video made me want to build a riser/drawer to put under my 20 long and 10 gal tanks which are about the same height. They're on a sturdy wood credenza now, which is kind of low, and even sitting you don't get the full picture, hence my desire to build a riser for them and incorporate drawers, just because, you know, DRAWERS. LOL you can never have enough drawers especially with the plethora of tools and supplies needed for this hobby :-D
That sounds like it would be an awesome DIY project
Thanks so much for this wonderful video and explaining everything so clearly❤
am building a 30 gallon stand do i need to dbl corner 2×4 thx you
These doubled corner 2x4s are for rigidity and stability, if your building this design then yes
This was so helpful! I'm planning to build this for a 10G nano and was wondering if yellow pine wood would be appropriate, and what kind of wood species you used in this video?
This is pine 2x4, it is plenty strong enough, I used 2x4 pine for the stand for my 300 gallon also
I wish I had the time, I would definitely do that, thanks, really nice video, blessings.
Thank you
You made me buy everything today hahahaha
1 question, I didnt get the #9 2 1/2
so I got #8 2 1/2 do that works?
Yep number eight is perfect
Hi! I just need a stand to elevate my tank enough to create space to run tubing underneath it. Is there a way to utilize this design in that manner? If so any tips?
Yes, you can build the same stand but do something like this
ua-cam.com/video/kB-pheFN8-k/v-deo.html
Advice: Predrill/pilot drill your screw holes to avoid cracking the wood! Extra work, but worth it!
No cracks here, but good tip!
Or spin the screw in reverse before putting it in forward and driving home.
New to your channel here. Needing to build a stand for my 60 gallon.
As long as we have 3/4” plywood on top to support the tank it does not need to sit directly on the frame for its weight?
Right, you can fo it either way
Fantastic!!
Thanks buddy just did mine learning from your video
Thanks for the great video!
I got a 75 gallon one how can I build one and want it same highest as this one you made
Love the video. Is there a safe way to add feet? I don't want to accidentally scratch my would floor.
I don't know if I would add feet to this stand necessarily, But you could get sheets of felt and cut it to fit along the bottom of the stand to provide a soft contacting surface between the wood and your floor It should prevent scratching
WHAT KIND OD WOOD DID YOU USE? Please and thank 👍🏾
Would this work for a 36 gallon bowfront?
Yes just add plywood to the top
What are the measurments for wood?
