@CastAirLead I haven't tried to control rack effects with my pod/midi, but I think if they allow being handled with midi, it should be a problem, but I'm going to try, and I'll let you know.
Using pod xt live here it works so well. And the program changes already are understood by amplitude without learning just add patches to the program change settings and you can select any amp presets with the back selection and patch selection
Jason this is my first time commenting on your UA-cam site, before I say what I have to say I got to tell you, you're an awesome person awesome musician glad found you on UA-cam, you're the one that got me through all my helix and stomp presets and how to use it, I use it all the time thanks to you, I bought an MC8 and hooked it up to my laptop which has amplitude on it set it all up (thanks to you), and used it on my first gig last night it sounded and ran like a dream, It was unbelievable, thank you so much for all your info your friendship and being out there for all of us out there. God bless
Jason - your timing on this video is incredible! I have the MC6 (based on some of your previous videos) and want to upgrade to Amplitube 5 MAX. I've just started working with MIDI and AMP 4 to see some of the capability, it seems limited, but your video has opened up a whole new world with AMP 5. You also confirmed my observation that the program change number is 1 less than the actual 3 digit number in Amplitube. Yes, a little confusing but I am good at subtraction. Thanks!!
I think the cool thing about the Morningstar controllers is you how you can assign any switch to the same CC number and whatever set of parameters you want to that same CC number. You can vary the parameter values per switch. So more than toggling between a min/max value giving you two states, you can actually create a functional equivalent to snapshots/scenes.
Is there a way to setup the "Bypass State" to send an explicit command to make sure something is engaged or bypassed? It seems like we can only send commands to toggle the Bypass state back and forth from where it is currently set, which is fundamentally different and quite limiting. Since Amplitube 5 does not have an integrated Scenes or Snapshots feature (e.g. like what is available on the Axe Fx, Quad Cortex, and Helix), the next best alternative to approximate Scenes would be to program batch messages that dictate which effects/amps are on/off each time a CC message is sent so that we can bounce between different configurations/Scenes within a single Preset with the press of just one footswitch. I also have a MC8, but I have not been able to figure out any kind of workaround within Amplitube 5 yet that accomplishes this. The only known option for configuration changes is to setup multiple presets, which leads to a whole host of undesirable complications and inefficiencies. In my research so far, it seems like the Gig Performer plugin host software and its "Variations" feature might be able to allow for us to directly integrate Scenes/Snapshot functionality with Amplitube 5. Although this software would allow for some nice to have benefits, I would rather not have to spend $200 just to get close enough though. I asked Morningstar support and their only response was to direct me to this video, which is very helpful and I had watched twice before reaching out to them. I also got nowhere with IK support and also a feature request a long time ago. Anyway, it was worth posting the question here before giving up.
just got into amp sim and man what a world they opened for me, but the lack of practical use makes them a little bit useless until you use a midi controller like the fcb, that's why I'm gonna get one asap, the things you can do with such little is insane
Great and informative video Jason! I just have one question, on the control change tab -> global tab, I have set my Preset Next and Preset Previous parameters via the "learn" button and amplitube detected and learned it. However when I am on live mode, when I clicked the learned button from my midi, amplitube doesnt change preset (next, previous). Any ideas why?? Thanks!
Dude. I got A5max a year ago and I’m a total Luddite. Watching this makes my head spin . HTF did you learn all this shit?!?!! BTW, love your content and hope you and the fam are well!🇨🇦
really good video. thanks very much ;) is this the AmpTube standalone, or through a Host Sequencer? i’m running mine through Ableton 11, and so far….nothing.. I’m unable to get the assigned CC msgs to be triggered. either through the manual approach, or the learn midi. and i know it is not my pedals…as i’ve tried mapping the same CC msgs/values in Ableton…and it works. so, it is a software issue.. can you help me out, perhaps ? thanks again.
I have a question regarding controlling parameter values like you are doing from time mark 11:30. Is it a feature of amplitude or mc8? cos i just ordered a meloaudio midi commander and plan to use it with bias fx as live rig and was wondering if i am investing in limited featured midi device or VST. Cos from what i researched on biasfx using meloaudio midi commander is that you can only toggle on or off an effect within a preset theres no option for setting different values to CC switches for same effect. Like having a 20% drive on one CC switch and say 75% drive on another CC switch for same preset. Kindly reply …dreading my purchase here!
Hi jason, I have Midi controler M-Audio Keyestation 88 and a volume pedal from M-audio aswell can you help me out how to assign and use the wah pedal from the amplitube 5 from my volume m-audio pedal by having connected at the volume input of my midi keyboard?
One thing A5 needs to steal from BiasFX 2 is its MIDI handling. With BiasFX 2 you can have 4 scenes for patch, so with my Nektar Pacer for a hardware preset, and the first 4 pedals correspond to my first 4 pedals on the Nektar. SSOOOO much easier.
How did you copy the Expression CC (Linear Response) Message line (for the Wah) to the other PC and CC Message Lines in the Morning Star Editor? Once I leave the Expr 1 Msg-1 my Wah quits wrking... Edited: I figured it out, once you save the Expression CC it just stays there and doesnt have to be added in with the PC and CC message lines!
Amplitube as a plugin in Logic Pro x is not recieving my PC messages from my MIDI foot controller. Doesnt matter if I change the PC channel from 1-10, that doesn't cause it to go through. It looks like Logic itself is registering all of my midi messages because its built in midi montitor is showing the messages (1 1 when hitting bank switch 1). Any tips?
Why don’t you use your Helix to do the midi ? Latency issues ? 🤔. Do you get any running through a daw ? Mainstage or Logic ? For live ? That’s always been my issue ! I have a helix rack and mainstage using Valhalla Plugins and the TC icon 1210 and 2290 ! There’s a latency only MIlliseconds because of all the conversion Thoughts 🤔😎❤️
Is it ok to connect my guitar to my audio interface and midi controller separately to my computer? (My audio interface is Scarlett 2i2 and it doesn't have midi connection option.
It is how I do it. Can hook up midi devices as many as you want through USB and the guitar in the scarlet. In your DAWs or guitar sim you set ASIO audio to the scarlet and the midi to the controller
I use Amplitube 5 on my Windows 10 laptop, and I've just bought a Harley Benton MP100 MIDI/USB foot controller. I've connected the foot controller to my laptop via a USB cable, and I want to be able to switch between presets as well as turn individual effects on/off by pressing the footswitches on the MIDI controller. Where do I start? I've never set up a foot controller before so I need help. I mostly use the VST version of Amplitube 5 in Cubase 11, rather than the stand alone version. Nothing seems to be happening on my PC when I switch the controller on and press the footswitches. The accompanying manual that comes with the MP100 is frankly terrible.
For some reason Amplitube 5 wont allow me to "Learn" midi assignments as you do in this video. However it does work in standalone mode but absolutely no luck in Logic or Mainstage - it's driving me mad at this stage! I have a MC-8 coming soon but to be honest I'm not too optimistic as it's clear there is something wrong between the standalone and plugin... Any Ideas what could be going wrong?
I am looking to buy MC-8 only if it works in Plug in mode (not Stand alone) . I see you had same question 2 months ago. Anything sorted out since then or should I wait on ordering MC-8? Thank you.
Have had no luck with the MC8. Unless you are a coder, stay clear of it. The user manual(s) for the editor and unit itself do not address amplitube at all. Your video makes it look like a snap but my experience has been VERY different. The PRESS command works, then it doesnt unless you press multiple times. Then sometimes doesn't toggle at all. ☹
How does yours work? I got an FBV Shortboard MKII and the midi controls don't seem to work great at all. I can't set the stomp buttons to on/off my fx, no matter how I tweak the settings
That gain percentage toggle was fantastic👍
I used this video to set up my pod HD500x as a midi controller for Amplitube 5, which is excellent. Thanks so much.

@@JasonSadites how do you setup the mc8 to switch to channel to channel on a 3 channel amp(mesa),

Still wanna know what the latch setting does in control settings
Thank you very much Jason, very interesting! Is it possible to implement program changes using Cubase?
Terrific video, Jason (as ever). Very useful.

great video jason, i just wonder what spec pc is needed to support all this software and run it without glitches.
I have run this easily with an I5 Windows PC. I currently have an I9 with 32GB ram and have zero issues with anything I throw at it.
Great video thanks Jason. How would I use AT5 in a live situation, would I need a computer or IPad an interface then plug into the PA?
Thanks Paul and yes you would need a computer and interface.

Is it phsyically possible to change presets via midi whilst "recording" in a DAW as a vst.
Do you use di box?

but how to use a foot switch with out buying another software like the one you use it because amplitube 5 it suppose to be able to do it alone
You can set it directly in AT5
