I am LOVING these videos so far! I reached the end of Unit 1 and decided to come back to the beginning and ask: what would you recommend as the minimum BPM to reach with each exercise before moving on to the next one? I know it's different for everyone! But if you had to recommend something as a minimum, what would it be?
This is definitely the best Guitar academy I could ever find!! Already improving a lot within a week!! Thanks so much! 🙏🏻 Love from India! Just a request! If you could in future, please, do make a series of lessons on Steven Wilson, as there is literally not a single lesson on his style on youtube, I believe only you all could do justice!:)
This looks pretty interesting. I’ve been playing for 35 years now, and I might say I’m on the ragged edge of “advanced” but I am still working as hard as ever to improve. I started with metal, took a ten year detour through jam bands and folk, and have been back working on my true musical love which is metal. In addition to learning entirely new stuff, I’m looking forward to seeing other approaches to stuff that I am already familiar with. Cheers!
Hey Dennis, It's way i found myself started off with metal went to other stuff but in came straight back to it! I'd love to hear how you get on with the course :) - Cam
Sooo cool! I can't wait for your metal series. You produce the best guitar lessons out there bar none. It's only March and it feels like Christmas with the gems you keep releasing. Your hard work, professionalism and dedication is commendable!
What a great site, being playing metal guitar for 15 years now. Stumbling across your site, wish I had come across it earlier. Will DEFINITELY be making use of your lessons etc. thanks so much for this 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I've been scrolling through a few of your guys' playlists and this one seems like the most interesting to me right now. Gonna be starting this course later today!
You guys seem to read my mind I have been watching other videos about metal and I wished you had a course for it but I thought you just weren't big metal fans... Glad I was wrong!!!
It's one we've been contemplating on doing for a while but after seeing the feedback we're glad we took the jump! :) Hope you enjoy and be sure to keep us updated with your progress! -Cam
hey man, it might be a little trouble but you could you try doing a player study on to roy gallagher from his tone to his playing style, i love his stuff so much and am often baffled by how good he is at guitar
Awesome! You guys never disappoint, so I'm sure it's going to be another amazing series. As of now I'm In deep with other YGA courses but will be checking it out as it's released. I'm not a big metal head by no means but I do enjoy many of the big classics when I hear them, and I'm sure the'll be lots I can learn from it as well. Thanks for all you guys do and continued success! :-)
Thank you! We had great fun making this course and feel its shows! It's something that can be overlooked with the techniques in metal being able to help with playing in other genres as well as being a great finger workout! Let us know how you get on! :)
Thank you e such a comprehensive and so professionally presented course. I am a big fan of your channel and do what I can to support you by purchasing your excellent material. I would be grateful if you could advise please. I have started playing power chords. After only a few minutes that I practise power chords, my fretting hand’s thumb starts to hurt. Is this simply a matter of strengthening my thumb? Is there anything technique-wise that I can do to reduce or prevent this issue? Grazie! Gaetano
Hey, Thank you for the support we really appreciate every bit we get! As for you thumb, its normal for some discomfort when trying something new but making sure to stop when. it does it the best thing! Aside from that making sure that you aren't pressing down any hard than needed goes a long way, practice finding out what the lightest you need to press down for the chord to sound good is :) Hope this helps!
That's the track from unit 4 of this course! Which we have regrettably titled 'Dropping the D' You can find the tabs and lessons here: club.yourguitaracademy.com/courses/metal-essentials/dropping-the-d/getting-ready

Wow! I've completed your Jimi Hendrix and John Mayer course and now I really want to get deep into metal, I was wondering if I can play metal with a Les Paul? I'm a beginner so I only have a LP..
Hey Devv! looking forward to having you join the course and ear how you get on :) A Les Paul would be perfect for metal. My Les Paul is usually my go to for playing heavier stuff! - Cam
Just discovered your channel... simply the best I've come across till now.. really helpful
