This video made me realise my muting technique was not great and I had other notes ringing out. Thanks for the excellent muting advice! By the way, I have just bought the whole course from your site. 👍
It can be a revelation finding some weak points in playing by having a go at certain styles I remember having the very some thoughts when I started playing more metal style pieces! Thank you for the support with the course, if you have any questions be sure to ask! :) - Cam
Great amps brands: Orange, Boss, EVH, Mesa Boogie. I prefer a Hughes & Kettner Grandmeister 40, think of it like a modern Marshall head amp built for metal with all the bells and whistles. However Mesa Boogie is a wonderful brand too. Pedal brands I'm a Boss kinda guy, I have the a Metal core mk2, the noise suppressor (removes unwanted fuzz), the tuner pedal, but I have a crybaby wah, and my first pedal; Dunlop metal distortion, it's a very cheap pedal in ways of construction and sound, but I keep it on top of my amp for good luck. Boss is all metal and they don't crap out on anything.
@@Gstark88 Marshall is overrated, they're good for certain genres but not metal. Marshall's I'd recommend for country, classic rock, jazz, folk, psychedelic rock.
Hi there! The backing tracks come with the purchase of the course, as well as the interactive tabs and workbook. You can also access the backing tracks and the supporting material with a 14-day free trial too! Check it out here - www.guitarclub.io/courses/metal-essentials

Hey Daniel, Unfortunately no slide courses in the works at the moment we want to make sure we get the right tutor to be able to guide you through slide correctly! - Cam

I've been an experienced classical guitar player for more than 12 years... Recently I changed to the electric realm 😄 but I have a big problem if I take my guitar like you do my right shoulder starts to ache so bad the only position I feel comfortable osbyhe the classical style what should I do? I look like John Petrucci with zero metal technique 😂
There is nothing wrong with holding the electric like you would with a classical guitar! If it feels comfortable and you're still able to use the correct techniques, keep it up!
Question does it seem weird to like metal but don't know how to play it cus I came from a different background of music I grew up listening to grunge and pop punk
Practicing at a slow BPM is always a great way to practice, as it allows you to really master your techniques and understand the shapes you use! Gradually building up the speed of the BPM as you feel comfortable is a great way to practice too! Practice regularly but remember not to burn yourself out as well
How are you guys able to keep making all these lessons for free and continue to stay afloat??? No body is doing this on the level of your guitar academy! Seriously guys all these in depth lessons on so many styles and variations of guitar is insane that they are all free from start to finish...usually like lesson 1 out of 20 is free and the other 19 cost money/subscription and really the only other person or entity keeping it all free is justinguitar but you guys cover such a wide spectrum of styles. How is everything being free actually sustainable? And thank you for everything by the way!!!
I’m looking forward to learning guitar from Sheldon.

I gotta admit it was spooky I thought that Sheldon was teaching me guitar in a parallel universe
Bazinga baby

Thanks Sheldon
Great course... Thanks👍🏻
What do you guys recommend? An Amp with distortion or pedals? Or is it all preference?
It all comes down to preference really have a go with both and see what you prefer! :)

Being taught metal guitar by Sheldon Cooper? Sign me in!
You look like Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory 😅

There's nothing weird with liking any genre of music :)
Lot of love from India ... This is definitely one of the best channel
6:15 palm muting makes sound. i have too much gain? xD
Palm is probably in wrong place. Try moving in small increments forward and back. Also pressure of palm.
Get rid of FENDER ... 😆
Which Ibanez guitar model are you using in this video?
Its an Ibanez Sabre although, I'm not sure of the model number!
So how long per session should i practice the walk and at what bpm

I didn't know Sheldon Cooper could play guitar 🤔
Sheldon vibes
Easily dismissed as a genre!
Good luck anyway!
It's fun!
Speaking as a lifelong blues fan by the way!
