Unrelated use, but because of this video I could see how thick xanthan gum makes water and thus was able to determine an appropriate percentage to use for cosmetic formulation. So, many thanks! 👍🏼

To those of us who are confused on how to calculate/make the percent solution we need, we should NOT feel bad by our lack of knowledge or by the snarky comments. My research reveals the following:
"Percent solutions can take the form of:
    1.) weight/volume % (wt/vol % or w/v %),
    2.) weight/weight % (wt/wt % or w/w %), or
    3.) volume/volume % (vol/vol % or v/v %).
In each case, the percentage concentration is calculated as the fraction of the weight or volume of the solute related to the total weight or volume of the solution.
Because percent solutions can be expressed in three different ways, it is imperative that the type of percent solution be explicitly stated."
In this video, we are not explicitly told what type of percent solution was created. Further, we Americans do not use the metric system, so it's difficult for us to keep converting back and forth from metric to imperial measurements.

was in the lab and used 15g of xanthan gum 200 mesh size ie food grade in 1L of water and got it to how the 6% looks. Anyone making detergents also about 2kg of xanthan gum gives you a good thickness for 250L volume barrel

Percentage measurements are of limited use, especially when it’s not specified “by weight” or “by volume”, which will give very different results. Ratios are more natural way for people to think, which is why “1%“ causes them to think “100:1” rather than “99:1

Xanthan Gum has many advantages over other kinds of Gums as well. you can have a look for some more information about xanthan gum in www.ficchem.com/product/xanthan-gum/
