    I just had to comment when I saw the baby guinea fowl ! So sweet (and so loud!) 😂 Love all the info about tropical fruit and veg - keep it coming ! Moved to the West Indies last year and finding gardening to be a challenge - so it's great hearing about different plants to grow in the heat !

      A lot of it but we are struggling with rosemary (given up!), coriander and tomatoes ! Is your climate mostly around 30 year round with a wet and dry season ?

    • @vintagefoodfarm
      @vintagefoodfarm  8 місяців тому

      @@chiarad4080 yes it is 😊try cherry tomatoes. Get a really woody rosemary and have you tried culantro or sawtooth coriander?

    Thanks for the tour. I’m sure your chooks are very happy with all of the special treats that your garden provides.
    I’ve never been able to successfully grow coriander and didn’t realise there were tropical varieties. 😮
    You’re making me want to pack my bags and head up north. Looking forward to seeing more. Thank you 🙏

    Very impressive ! I moved from the Newcastle area to Bangkok, Thailand, and then on to rural north east Thailand with my wife. I thought I was a pretty good gardener back home but I'm a total newbie again now ! We have a 1600sq.m house block and around 15000 sq.m. of her share of the family farm, much of which is overgrown and under used so I want to diversify with lots of fruit trees for a start. I'm going to have to try and find some of that tree lettuce, growing ordinary lettuce is difficult here. Subscribed and looking forward to more !

    Very excited to see another tropical gardener. Your garden is amazing! I enjoy some of the things you grow but yours is huge and very inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing. I would be very interested to know exactly what level of the tropics you are in. Myself, The top end of the Top End of the NT. Keen to try some of the items you grow. Thanks again. 😊

    Beautiful and productive garden. I am working to achieve something like this in Brisbane. I am very surprised to see the cardamom flowering. Where did you get the cardamom plant from?

    • @vintagefoodfarm
      @vintagefoodfarm  Рік тому

      ooo...exciting! We just harvested a heap of cardamom! It is so worth growing! 🤠We got ours from the local Mareeba markets but they sell it at our local nursery as well "limberlost" so it might be worth trying a good nursery. You could post on a local gardening Facebook page if anyone has any because it is just a case of pulling a bit out. Good luck! Let me know how you go for future reference 🤠Have a great day! Stay calm 😊

      Thank you so much Old Bear! Yes of course! The garden beds, soil (mill mud), arches and fence came to about 10k. We had the garden beds made at a local steel fabricator so the quality is really good. We used secondhand gates. Most of the plants came form the local produce market or friends and family :-)

    Very productive garden, well done! Great to hear of all the tropical veg. Have u heard whether theres any tropical varieties of tomatoes that will grow through the hot period? Are they a tasty pumpkin

    • @vintagefoodfarm
      @vintagefoodfarm  Рік тому +1

      Hi Brendan! The pumpkins are very tasty! Best we've ever had 😁The only tomatoes we've found that grow in the hot so far are cherry tomatoes. I bought some "tropical tomatoes seeds" that said they would grow up here in the heat but they didn't work. If you ever here of any let me know. I would love to find some. Have a great day!

      @@vintagefoodfarm great to hear the pumpkins are so good! I will let u know if I find out about a tomato suited to the summer there. Maybe a shade house would work.

    I’m just south of Tully Those Vietnamese mint and coriander grew very well early in the year then these last few months just stop growing and died off. I don’t understand why. Maybe the heat? I don’t know
