Excellent conversation about one of the most important topics in cannabis. I'm so happy to see how many people are taking this seriously since I've been concerned about genetics and breeding practices since I first learned about breeding back in the 90s. Back then it was extremely rare to find anyone who even thought of it as something worth considering, let alone dedicating their time and effort to it. Now there really is quite a movement back towards a more natural way of doing things and I couldn't be happier about it.
I grew a plant two years ago that had a slightly sweet definitively baby carrot odor, too. I still have some and it continues to age well like a fine cheese !!!
This was really very interesting and informative so thank you gentlemen for this talk, Shango I’d love to hear more about Jade Nectars information on thca, and the cannabis infusions they produce, as listed on their website, a part 2 perhaps? 🙏
Also the reason the strains tend to be a opiate kinda high is bc people have a love for opium heroin oxy etc and can get a similar affect but not get the opiate withdrawal
Man that 20 week black Colombian was fucking wicked man I just can’t justify keeping the cutting I had too long but so damn good just made to be smoked and burned in every way.
Santa Cruz yeh man .never been. I used to have a natas skateboard tho when I was hardcore street skater back in the day Santa Monica airlines made man .really good wood didn't delaminate like a Powell peralta board. I'm trying to find out if it's a landrace I've got or just a mutant plant .phenomenally minty potent terps with fruit undertones it doesn't grow properly doesn't like to be fed wants loads of root space.leafy small Budd .virtually no hairs leaf grows like buds .buds are tiny little v CALIXS pencil thin .absolutely covered in trycomes tho. Red stems turning darkish brown in flower really woody if it stops growing it sets wood really quickly and stunts .each time I regrow it it seems to gradually get better. But to be honest I haven't really given it the best attempt. Crossed with it to see if that helps .still waiting to see tho. It's an absolute conubdrum man .got seed from a friend who couldn't remember where it came from. But I do remember him saying he was growing something outside as an interest years ago so I'm wondering if it has landrace origin like an S1 of a landrace or heirloom or something. Or maybe it's a dudd . ????it's so different and has some great traits tho. It's damn crazy but good traits aswel as crazy ones.
I want to take the few "Real" (F) Aculpoco Gold beans I have, and graft them into one plant. For a small scale, small space STS open pollination. Both to save, and for a future breeding project. Is this a crazy idea, and are there any potential issues that could arise?
Another definition I've heard describing Landrace varieties involved how long they were grown in that particular environment. I've heard from 200 years to 250 years, minimum..?! Not sure if there's an exact amount of time that declares something as "Landrace"..?! Also, have you heard of any North American Landrace varieties (they supposedly don't exist)..?! Well, there is one, and I believe still preserved..?! "The New Mexico Land Grant", that was ordered to be eliminated by Nixon, and was. But not before seed was preserved! This was supposedly brought from Spain (?), in the 1700's from those who brought these varieties to Mexico, and even into New Mexico State (before any borders, or States/US Country existed yet). I'm not 100% sure if this is available in pure form, but I believe so. Serious preservers, like our Landrace master, interviewed here, probably know about this line. If not, please reply, and I can connect y'all with the longtime breeder who's public weekly, but is pretty low key for the great genetics he's worked with. Great interview with much information! From Landrace to Polyhybrids. "What a long, strange trip it's been!". And it's going to get Positively stranger with all the great work going on! Bravo!👍💯✌️
The market would be great if you could buy like a multi pack of diferent types of budd so people get to really sample strains that they wouldn't normally choose or come across like a couple of joints worth of all those varieties like say 20 strains in one purchase pack .something like that surely would be beneficial to everyone. Instead of people just out to get wots image trendy .They can be persuaded to be conouseuirs.
Great talk but all cannabis that grows wild is feral if you think about it cannabis originally came for a single region which was brought all over. Also I have old timers from both Jamaica and India which said they never separated seeds from particular plants or patches they go on 1 sac to be planted so there is only environmental selection and the 1 family in particular has done this for 100yrs plus so I think it's far more complicated than thought.
I love the Dead, and I love John Mayer, but I don't like the interbreeding. Bob Weir has become half tempo and his genetics are waning.😂😂 i grew some 17% Double Durban this year and it holds rank with the rest of Mendo2020 genetics, but there is a lot more Huskie, than Dingo in it.
I know that there can be some weight to genetic evidence in cannabis plants that indicate a particular plant is from a very specific region of the world. For example, a pure Kush will show a genetic makeup that reveals it is unlikely the plant has ever been bred with plants outside of its specific region. However, there can't be that many of them at this point. Is genetic testing done on these Landrace strains to help lend credibility to their monikers? Anyone can say they are in possession of a true Landrace plant of any kind, when in reality that plant has likely been tainted by other genetics outside of its original home. Also, I don't understand how the plants can continue to be considered Landrace plants when they are no longer being grown inside of its natural environment. Once the plant is removed from its original setting and grown somewhere else in the world, isn't it then considered to be a domestic Heirloom?
I stand by what I said. And you agree with me even though you don't realize it. Even though "indica" is an unscientific and outmoded word, one of the key features of "indica" varieties is myrcene dominance. We talk about this on scientific panels at events all the time. It is well known that modern cannabis is myrcene dominant, and many of us would like to change that. It is also one of the reasons we are all so attracted to landraces. Many to most of them are not myrcene dominant, and that smells delightfully atypical to us. 👍
Thanks for the definition of landrace.

Another great one! Thank you both for sharing the 💚 for landrace and the medicine 🙏🙌
Awesome stuff guys! 👍🏼
Love the symphony analogy. The truth.

I grew a "DR. GRINSPOON" this past year. Not a speck of PM on the girl.

might as well try
Cockerspanadoodle had me ROFL!🤣🤣🤣
😂😂. Don't doodle your landraces!

Right? I agree. Cannabis should be sold in flights so you can try a variety head to head.

A guy gave me an oz of outdoor that was in a Ziploc bag inside a bounce dryer sheet box, I was dumfounded, that shit was ruined.😢
That's so crazy. Dude did not understand his product at all.
Doodled!
😂

It’s not myrcene dominance, it’s cbd/indica dominance

Way more going on than CBD and even Myrcene, lots of variables. And yes I agree Indica Sativa doesn’t describe whats in the plants.
