Hi, i am 17 and i have always been pressured by my parents to become a physician even though it was not for me and i was never excited or motivated when thinking about it. Quarantine has really given me the chance to think about my future plans and your videos really got me interested in dentistry and orthodontics. Im super excited to pursue it and my parents are also super proud! Thanks.
LOVE your videos. im going to become an Ortho assistant then head to becoming Orthodontist and having my own business afterwards. This video and other videos you post are amazing and just gives me hope and excitement to begin my journey.
Hi! I'm Richard and I've been working for an orthodontist for over 11 years now. It's pretty crazy to think about it but it's epic! I am not an orthodontist myself but as an assistant that has worked for just 2 weeks for a dentist, then switched to an orthodontist i can say that working in orthodontics is wonderful. You see people change. You see their self esteem grow. Seeing them tear up as they get their braces off and they see the start & finish after 2-3 years of treatment is something that can't be described with words. Also Dr. Nate, you are making great content! Best regards, Richard CS Social Media
Dentists usually focus on the overall health of your teeth and the surrounding gums while orthodontists focus on the placement, correct position of your teeth, bite (occlusion) and skeletal situation. But a lot of dentists also do orthodontic work! @@0seunggf
Hello Dr.Nathan recently subscribing to your channel is very helpful! Every reason you express in this video has me sold. On becoming a orthodontist, currently serving in the military nervous to pursue a civilian job. Hopefully with me watching more of your videos gives me more confidences to follow my dream on becoming to orthodontist.
People being disappointed that their child wants to become a dentist instead of a doctor will never make sense to me! Both jobs are highly respectable and in my country, the first few years or the first year you learn the exact same things as a med student.
Hi! im a senior in high school rn and after I got my braces off I wanted to go into the dentistry field but im not sure if its right for me or not, your videos are helping me figure out my future a lot, THANK YOU!!!
I can totally relate..... I am currently a 2nd year preclinical student and at 4th year I get to decide if I want to continue with medicine or dentistry. I know I want to do dentistry but I think my dad will be disappointed. Which is very funny cuz dentistry is such an amazing profession
I shadowed a general dentist the other day. I wore a dress shirt and tie lol and he was doing fillings. Saw the debris/ fine dust from the old fillings and tooth flying out everywhere, and I was concerned about like sanitation. Tiny particles and droplets getting all over his forearms.
I have a big question. I really dislike any business related things 😂… starting my own clinic does not sound like a thing for me. Would it be possible to get to work in a hospital (public or private) immediately after graduating from dental school and just work in a hospital as a dentist instead of owning a clinic where you’re in charge of everything?
Thank you so much for this video. I’m currently a pre dental student in college. How much do orthodontist usually make ? Or how much did you start off with ? I hope it’s not too personal
Hey Tovae, we do pretty well financially but a quick google search and I'm sure you'll find more exact numbers. Basically right out of residency you start doing pretty well. Good luck!!!
Hi I love your videos. I am a foreign trained dentist and currently looking to get into orthodontics. But one thing was concerning me that will the future of orthodontists be affected due to the growing number of general dentists doing Invisalign? Would love an insight from you.
Thank you so much for your valuable video!! Im 5th grade of dental school student in japan. And I would like to ask you that how GPA in dental school is important to be orthodontics in america?
Hi Woo. Love Japan! We went there during Orthodontic residency as an exchange program with some students there. Unfortunately I can't remember the school we visited but loved all the people. Our GPA at my school didn't matter as much for Orthodontics as I was an honor student every year. They mostly cared about your board part I scores which I did very well on.
Hi Dr. Nate! Currently a dental student for an International Dental Program. Curious! What made you want to go further to specialize in orthodontics? I have somehow gained an interest for it but I am not yet sure if I am willing to do 3 years more of studying and increasing my student loan debt. Would love to know what motivated you!
Hi dr, im in year 12 now, looking to study dentistry, my question is how long did it take u to study dentistry? ( from first year of university to when u finished)
Hey I was wondering how many offices you own and if you own them yourself or you have other people help you or not to manage the business side of things. Are you the sole owner or is it some sort of partnership? Also how does owning offices as an orthodontist differ from owning offices as a general dentist?
How much does it cost to be orthodontist in USA .... I’m not living in USA that why I’m asking and also if you know how much does it cost to be maxillofacial surgeon I’m still first year dentist but I want to know and my English I think it’s not that good I wish u understood my question !!
Hi Ayman. Really depends on school but I believe average school debt is around 200k for dental school and add another 100k for pretty much any specialty.

Hi I want to become something in the dental field but i’m wondering if you get vacation time because i would like to travel when i’m older so would i be able to if i had a job in the field?
Doctor, lam doing ortho now. 4 premolars has been extracted for the treatment.. during last sitting, orthodontist told me to visit dentist for filling my second premolar.. dentist told the cavity is too deep even though lam not feeling any pain.. he suggested to do RCT on that teeth and to continue ortho and once ortho gets completed, crown can be installed.. but doctor lam so worried about that does a RCT teeth is strong enough to withstand the brace force?? does it get break during brace adjustment??
Thank you so much for the videos! I am 16 years old and I want to become an orthodontist too, your videos are extremely helpful! :)
Great! Keep working hard!

After high school can’t we join dental school directly without having 4 years of study further
Not in North America.

We move teeth with RCTs all the time. If done correctly should be no problem.
